I ran my first 10K this morning. I finshed in 1:09:52. It was about 6 minutes faster than I thought I would do. When I ran 6.2 about a week ago I did it in about 1:17. Although it was muggy that day and today was cool and dry. Overall I'm really happy with my time.

When you submit your time for the Princess, does it have to be online? They had everyones times printed up and on tables, but I don't think they post them on line. :confused3

I'm not opposed to taking a cab to a couple of places. Disney resorts are quite a ways out of the budget for some reason there are no cheap plane tickets from Little Rock out there either. Maybe i'm better off to wait a little while to book

Just be aware for staying off-Disney that if you take a cab anywhere it's probably going to run $15-$20 one-way. Plus RT airport shuttle costs. So just be sure to check all your costs carefully before deciding to stay off-property for a WDW race. You'll probably save on food, but... (now I'm starting to think this whole sub-thread should go over to the Budget Board).

Great job! It's always fun when you do better than you thought you would!

To submit a time for the Princess, you just need to e-mail RunDisney with the name / date of your race, probably location, and your time. They take it from there. Who knows if they actually verify the thing or not, but you will have given them all the info they need to track it down if necessary.

AAAHHHH! This has nothing to do with running, but I am seriously bummed - I just read that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed Jan 9 - May 27, 2012!!!! I didn't get to ride it last time, so it was on my "must do" list this time. DANG!

I thought I posted this earlier but I don't see it, so apologies for a repeat - was a serious Disney dork last night! Got my 2012 "Unofficial" guide in the mail and pored over that thing all night! This certainly isn't my first trip, but I still love looking at the guide books and planning on what I want to do! I'm even trying to think about how I can hit as much as possible without being obnoxious - it occurred to me that since I am driving, and AK opens early on the Monday we leave, I *could* swing by and hit Expedition Everest before I drove home.....:rotfl:

We are staying at the Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista for $80/night for the 5 of us. We're driving though, so the cost is a no brainer for us. In order for me to run we had to go as frugally as possible.

Today I went running with my husband and everything happened! I fell hard to the floor. Had to take a bathroom break and the park was full of people which it make it hard to run. We ran 3 miles in 48 minutes. Which is not my best but is not bad counting that a lot happened.

Now my husband is thinking of running with me! which is exciting because i wont be lonely. Does anyone have an idea for a homemade frog for him? my costume is Tiana inspired so he can be the frog, but we dont have any ideas.

Congrats! that is amazing. :worship: Keep going!

I saw this guy last year, although it was such a warm day I'm sure he was miserable.

I believe the Big Thunder refurb is for Disneyland, not for WDW.

From Mousesavers: "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom) closed 1/9/12-5/27/12 for refurbishment."

However, it looks like the 1st phase of the new Fantasyland will be open by the time of the race: "Dumbo the Flying Elephant (Magic Kingdom) closed 1/9/12-2/17/12 for refurbishment and move to Storybook Circus."

Finished our new longest distance 7 mi today, in 1:20! Started out a bit fast, but managed to recover (which I suppose it good practice for the race!) and keep a reasonable time.

To keep myself going, I had looked up the Princess Half race course on MayMyRun, so I could say: "Now we are going under the MK sign; Now we are entering TTC; Now we are passing BLT; Now we are running down Main St USA!" This run got us almost as far as GF... :) :thumbsup2

Oh yeah, HOW could I forget about the medal!? It's obligatory to wear it the rest of the day. You'll love the nice comments from CMs and fellow princesses! I have to fly out in the late afternoon, but I definitely always wear mine through the airport (though I have to reluctantly remove it to put in a change pan to get through the metal detector at security). The best part is the knowing smile and nod from other medal-wearers who are also walking slowly and stiffly.

So very true

Great pace!!! :worship:

Great job with all the miles you are all doing, I can't wait to be pain free and back to running..

Take your race results with you to the expo. runDisney is not always great at updating your placement based on emailed results, but runner relations will take care of it at the expo.

I'm thinking about green compression sock, shorts, tech shirt and then doing a frog hat. Maybe feet too. That way most of it would be WISH clothes for any other race. And more comfortable to run in.

Hello Princesses! I ran my first half marathon today! The last couple miles were rough (my butt/hamstrings cramped up) - but I still finished with a smile on my face! :)

So here's my question - I sent in a 10K time of 1:03...would sending in my half marathon time of 2:18 potentially get me in a better corral?

Thanks! :)

I like your idea! He was looking around and like the idea of wearing a frog hat and go all green (tshirt and pants). But I have to ask: What is wish clothes??

Shelley, You'll do great! First races are very exciting! And I've seen your training. The likelihood of you being last is VERY low...:thumbsup2

aw - thanks, amy :goodvibes i had a BLAST!! weather was gorgeous, and i felt good the entire time. what a journey this has been... still can't believe i did 6.2 miles today!!!

I did 8.5 today, and it took SO long to get from 7 to 8.5. This is the first time I've questioned my sanity about this, but it felt good to get 8.5 done :cool1:

way to go!!! so happy for you :woohoo:

LOVE this. :rotfl: especially the image of other medal-wearers walking slowly and stiffly.

We flew out that evening, and had our bus pickup at around 3. Luckily we were staying at the BWV, and could walk to the hotel and rely on disney transportation. I wore my medal all the way home. When I got food at the airport in Charlotte, the lady taking my order asked if I won the race:lmao:

well - she could just tell that you rock. :cheer2:
