We are for sure looking off property. Really just a place to sleep at night nothing too great We probably won't even rent a car if the hotel we get has transportation to a park.

Something else to consider--when staying at a "mystery" hotel that is cheap, take into account it could be a room with moldy carpet and stinky air. If you have any allergies, you could be affected for the race. Everyone needs a good nights sleep/rest. This is coming for my lessons learned!

I always run with music. In fact, my app changes the beat of the music to match my pace. At this point in my training it's the only way I can keep a steady pace and not slow down to a stop when I'm getting tired. I'll be bringing my music along for the princess, not only for the pacing, but to regulate my walk/run ratios. My app also gives me running tips and positive reinforcement when the going gets tough.

Yes, what app are you using? That sounds pretty neat!

AAAHHHH! This has nothing to do with running, but I am seriously bummed - I just read that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed Jan 9 - May 27, 2012!!!! I didn't get to ride it last time, so it was on my "must do" list this time. DANG!

I thought I posted this earlier but I don't see it, so apologies for a repeat - was a serious Disney dork last night! Got my 2012 "Unofficial" guide in the mail and pored over that thing all night! This certainly isn't my first trip, but I still love looking at the guide books and planning on what I want to do! I'm even trying to think about how I can hit as much as possible without being obnoxious - it occurred to me that since I am driving, and AK opens early on the Monday we leave, I *could* swing by and hit Expedition Everest before I drove home.....:rotfl:

I too am a Disney Dork. :thumbsup2 I offer advice to people at work even! I have a collection, each year, I accumulate of Disney travel books. My fav is the Unofficial Guide. I also read on a Mouse Savers newsletter I received that Big Thunder Mtn RR was shut down for refurb. I am totally bummed, because all my DS4 wants for Christmas is to be 40" tall. We traveled to WDW 4x this year and he could never ride anything DS7 could. We are hoping Santa :santa: will bring him that 1/2" he needs to ride those rides. He's such a daredevil too!!

This thread is HUGE!!! And the Princess 1/2 is still 4 months away! :)

So I am going to be bad and not really read the previous 235 pages... cause I just don't have the time. I saw some folks I know from W&D. Hi Cripey! :yay: I'm sure there are others.

The W&D two weeks ago was my first 1/2 and my time was 2:28:49! I started training 18 months ago starting as a complete running (and overweight) newbie, and I now officially have the Disney running bug. Excited for the Princess and am currently debating which hotel we want, how long we want to stay, airline prices (eep!), etc. Coming in from Oregon offers an added layer of difficultly, but I'm excited!

So, HI everyone! Looking forward to reading more.

Hi, Are you guys doing a park on Saturday or are you saving your legs for race day?

Are you running with a camera or running for a fast time? Not sure which to pick, just get the pics because it is Disney or try to beat a previous record?

I am planning on going to the parks on Saturday, but making it an early evening. I have never done a half marathon before, but the characters along the way is what sucked me in so I will definately be stopping for pictures. Not sure what camera I will bring yet. I usually bring my DSLR to the parks but there's no way I will run with it. I have a point and shot but it's not super small either. I might try to borrow something smaller from someone. Right now my goal is to have fun, get some great pictures, and finish in the upright position! :rotfl:

I will be going to the parks for a bit on Saturday, but just make sure I get back to the room early. This year I went to AK since I knew it closed at 6 and we left even earlier then that. We are skipping AK this time but we are doing the 5K Sat morning and going back to EPCOT for lunch.

I ran with my Kodak Playsport (mini video camera) since I saw all the cool videos on You Tube but I didn't really use it. I plan to bring it again and use it more this time. I am doing the Tinker Bell for a new PR and the Princess for fun (and to get my C2C medal :thumbsup2) so I plan to try and enjoy the run more this time. I haven't decided if I am going to bring another camera or not. The Playsport can take pics but it is pretty low quality; I think like 5 or 6 megapixels??

Hello fellow Oregonian! I'm in Beaverton a couple minutes from the entrance of Nike headquarters! I got airfare a few months ago for $380 on delta but not sure what it is now....good luck! Enjoy the pretty weather this week!

HI...congrats on your W&D finish...great time! You are going to love the Princess run...it was my first earlier this year. I will most likely not be able to do it again next year because I'm doing the inaugural Tinker Bell at the end of January...way too many close-together trips already this year to add on another...but I'm still keeping it as an option in case of wind fall :) I plan to have it on my calendar for 2013 though for the 5th anniversary...hoping for a special medal for that one!

On another running topic...the BF and I just booked a last minute Thanksgiving trip to WDW next month on a whim and for some reason are just now realizing we'll both need to run twice while we are there...him more than me since he's training for a full...but both of us still. We're staying at AS Sports...wondering if anyone has ever run anywhere around there? Are we pretty much stuck with just the long sidewalk that runs in front of all 3 AS's? I'll have a 5 and 7 miler scheduled that I'm not opposed to turning into a 3 and 5 miler to save some time...but he'll have a 6 and 15 miler that I know he will not cut down...that 15 miler is going to get B-O-R-I-N-G if all we've got is that sidewalk...any ideas or suggestions for alternatives?

Check out mapmyrun.com routes and take your pick, or maybe go over to FW campground or DTD or even the path between HS and Epcot for a change of scenery for your run.

I could have written this exactly!

I'm going to be bringing my p&s and just carry it during the race.

Life is a little stressful for me right now and one of the brightest spots is training for this half-marathon. I think the best aspect is it is not something I can power through and finish in a week or even a month but that I have to just complete my three runs a week, eat healthy and cross train a little. I will see the improvements little by little but it will take time.

I feel the same way as you! And it is something no one can tell me I can't do :) I've never run before in my life but it is proving to be a nice distraction from the stresses of everyday life lately.

Im not buying park tickets because we decided we wont have that much time to enjoy the parks the way we want to. We will arrived at night on Friday, go to the expo and eat at disney downtown on Saturday, and after the race enjoy boardwalk and more downtown, a boat race and the pool plus my husband wants to take me to celebrate that evening. I signed up for the race because it look fun so Im taking my camera, is a canon the size of a credit card and I hope I can stop for my favorite charachter. I dont care at what time i finish, i just want to finish.

Coach Charles gave me a great route from POFrench Quarter to Downtown Disney. I did it twice while I was there in Aug.
You might be able to find it in the events thread by searching for my name or his.
Good luck running.

Does anyone know how you enter proof of time for a team? Do all members have to have the same time or do you enter individuals or just one? Hmm..I'm probably the weakest link and would hate for everyone to have my time to start.

When I registered it only asked for team captain/first runner listed for a finish time. So I would put your runner with a fast proof time first/team captain.

So I just bit the bullet and registered! Can't wait to head out there! We decided to drive (16+ hours in the car YUCK!) 125 days until we head down there! Anyway should probably head out and run because I didn't get my run in yesterday as it was pouring and lightning in Little Rock yesterday and was quite cold! Getting so excited hope everyone else is too!
