This is the first year they are offering the necklace, so I don't think anyone would know unless they have an "in" with RunDisney!

I haven't registered yet but am consdering doing so this week, if not definitely before the 8/9 price hike.

Yesterday's run was meant to be 10-12 miles and turned into 13.25 - our running club course guy marked out an 11 mile course instead of 10, and then some of us got lost. It's so hot and humid here, too. I am really sore today!

Hi everybody! I am seriously considering running this race! I am still looking at my budget to see how I can swing it, but I am really motivated to do so. I am what I would call a casual runner doing 3-4 miles on an outing. The most I've ever run is 5 miles so no where near a 1/2 marathon, but I think I can get there.

I'm also what I would call a fair-weather runner but this year I joined a gym so I sometimes ran on the track during the colder months, but I also fell in love with Zumba so that substituted as my cardio. But as of that last few weeks I'm back to running and then a friend mentioned this race and well now I'm obsessed with the idea of this. I really really really want to do this. I have not registered yet. Still looking for a roommate and then going to see how cheaply I can do this.

I hope I can swing this. I love the idea of a fun goal to work towards to motivate me. I've been reading this thread on and off for days and already have a wealth of information gathered from all of you. Thank you!

My oldest daughter just registered to run with me! I am so proud of her! She has been a smoker for a few years, and is using this to help her quit.

Crossing the finish line holding her hand would be the best thing ever!:lovestruc

We also just got home from the Alaskan cruise on the Wonder. My garmin couldnt get a signal between the clouds and mountains so I gave up tracking my miles and instead went for time. I would spend 2 hours run/walking on deck 4 with a couple of pauses for yoga stretching and push-ups. I have to say I felt GREAT! I have my first 10K on July 30. Would love to end with an 11 min per mile pace.

I have been reading about lots of great training on the treads. Once I felt like I could finish, then I started to train so that I could finish standing tall.

Still on the fence about wearing the tu-tus. LOL:rotfl:

I'm in. Registered and booked my stay at AKL lodge. Going solo. I wish there was a discount for solo travelers. The room discount is based on double occupency so my room all by my sweet little self is running me about $1100:eek: for 3 nights. Trying not to fret, this trip is me time and I think we all deserve a little splurge on ourselves every now and then. Plus I've never stayed at AKL so that will be totally cool:cool1:

I too want to see this and join you! PS-- you do know me from Daily Mile I'm not some random Disboards stalker hahaha :rotfl:

Ha! I know - although it was hard at first to keep up with different names btwn dailymile and disboards! Julie (SaySay) is quite the fun girl, which is why I want to run with her this year instead of "doing my own thing". If our friend Kat joins us, the possibilities for the stories we will have are endless.

first of all thanks to all esp you experienced racers for giving such great advice about training and our bodies and nutrition. And to Coach and all the other guys who post here to support us - esp with all you have to go through about our fun costumes. ;-) That being said....you don't need to read below.... silly girl stuff.

OK, I am having sign up remorse, not about the race but about the princess I picked! :lmao: Almost enough to email and have it changed, but still thinking about what I will wear race day, though my costume is more color scheme and run/walk comfort and function! Yeah, I know silly.... I will probably email and have it changed...but actually waiting til after a 10k I am signing up for labor day as hoping my time will be just a little shorter than the 1:12 I submitted with registration, so can kill 2 birds with one email. :goodvibes

AND to TinkerAmy - you sure you want to offer me beer after the race thinking about my excitement at the Move It Shake It Parade down main street last year... to those who weren't there, I kind of danced all the way down the street shaking my medal - I got a hug from Goofy when he came off the float, made my afternoon! Good times for sure!

Hate that I just plugged back in to this thread and missed you talking about the peachtree. Holy crap it was hot this year! What wave were you in? It would've been cool to meet you at the race. :goodvibes

Did you buy either locally? I'm in Richmond.

Thanks for the other feedback! I'm going to look into all of them. I'm intrigued by an underwire sports bra since underwire is my breast friend.

There used to be a place in Carytown that sold the Enell bras, but unfortunately it has closed. The Enells I bought from them will last forever, so that doesn't worry me (got TEN years out of my first batch of Enells). I bought the CWX ones from Amazon, on a whim, but love them because they are not so restrictive and are more comfortable.

What are your favorite places for running in Richmond? We live on southside so run at Rockwood Park a lot. Love running on Riverside Drive too!

Hey Ladies - I'm in Richmond too (technically Glen Allen). This will be my first Princess Half - signed up for the Richmond Half in Nov as well as I'm thinking I should probably find out what my body is going to feel like after 13.1 miles. My goal is to run the whole thing - right now I'm only up to 6 miles on my long runs, so have a ways to go. PM if you're ever interested in some training runs before it gets too gross this summer!

Yay, Richmond ladies!! I'm coming off a 6.5 week injury layoff and blood donation last week, so right now I totally stink! Hubby and I have run the Richmond 8K for the last 7 years, but this year we are going to the Outer Banks for the half that weekend. I'm always up for a run with anyone who might also be SLOW! :lmao:

I call myself slow - ~12min mile so would love to meet at some point. I'm in the West End but love new courses. Right now I've had to resort to running on the track at the Y as I'm not a morning person and it's too durn hot (thumbs up to HockeyKat) to run outside here.

Also for those in Richmond I was at Short Pump this weekend and there's a new yoga/running store called "lululemon athletica". Had some great sports bras so I picked up a couple as I have worn out some old Champions. My favorite part is that they're machine washable, had removable pads (to prevent embarrassing photos) separates the girls while having a great, but not uncomfortable, hold. They had heard of the Princess Half so was able to get sucked into some good conversation as well.

I've seen lululemon mentioned in Runner's World, so googled it and found out there is one in Short Pump. I can hop on 288 and be there in 20 minutes, so will definitely check it out!

I'm about a 11:30 mpm on short runs but a lot longer on long runs as I do a Galloway run/walk. Being an old person just a month short of a milestone birthday, I figure I've earned the right to be slow! ;)

Man, it is hot, isn't it? You are a neighbor to the north, but not too far - maybe 2.5 hours or so.

We have lululemon here in Raleigh too. I haven't checked out their sports bras. Their stuff in general seemed pretty pricey!! My Galloway group does a run from there once a season or so and we got a discount, I think.

I'm about the same, 11-11:30 on the twice weekly short runs, but more in the 15:30-16 for long runs. I help to lead the 12:30mm Galloway pace group, so according to Galloway's rules, our "base pace" (if it were 60 degrees) is 14:30, then 30 seconds for every 5 degrees above 60. We start at 6:30AM and it's usually already above 70 and humid.

FWIW, I have been following his program for 18 months now and he is right about the training runs vs your race pace. I know it sounds crazy, but my race times have been spot on based on the training group I have been in.

It was WAY too hot. I drank too much water I think because I had a headache later that day. I was good the 2 days before the race so I don't think it was hydration, I think it was too much water! I was in waive J....and did great first 3 miles....actually superfast for me, mile 4 I slowed since it was uphill then the last 2 I decided to take easy. It was fun though....so much crowd support! Love that race.

Ok I'm curious now, Julie, about this color scheme you've got going on. :)

And speaking of that... what color would Jasmine be? I'm guessing turquoise...
Last year I was snow white....but not a costume, just yellow sparkle skirt, blue shirt and a red had with a bow sewn on and tiara.

I am thinking of Belle either the blue bookreading belle OR yellow...but its not my color though I do have the sparkle skirt from last year!

I might do mary Poppins in her white outfit...but seriously, nothing too extravagent....just the general idea because its GOT to be functional. OR Rapunzel as the brunette that Flynn Rider prefers since I am brunette with short hair. SHEESH I spend way too much time on this stuff.

on a positive non girly truly training related thought, my foot is feeling better...still sore a bit and a little tight in ankle, but its SO much better than a month ago. I was reading blog from last year when I started C25k and ran my first race and apparently it was still bothering me a little in the other foot....so even though it seems like when I had it last year it got better sooner, I don't think it did. This makes me happy as I want to do this race feeling as strong as possible, not limping the last 5 miles like last year...BUT DARN IT I DID IT! :cool1:

Oh and Amy and I and our crew had a fun weekend! I highly rec get a little rest right after the race...and by that I mean shower and changed then go have some fun in the parks!

Where did you get the sparkle skirt??? ;)

Where did you get the sparkle skirt??? ;)

I ordered the one I wore last year from Team Sparkle online. Its cute and very well made. I made myself one for the last 10k I ran, oh man is it sad, but it was sparkly! I am not a good seemstress by any stretch....well that and I put it off to the last minute.

The Team Sparkle skirt is just a skirt.....nor shorts, which is great as you can wear it over shorts, capris or leggings. I got Team Sparkle vs Sparkle Skirt because they had yellow and I wanted to go with snow white theme.

Yep - about 3 hrs, I'm a Chapel Hill Native and my parents still live there. My Mom manages a walk every morning before it gets too nasty but thinks I'm crazy for thinking about running. It was a little pricy, but had some that had cute and very functional straps - anything that doesn't dig into my neck is a winner!

Yes, Julie, we have discussed the dark hair girl problem. FYI this is, Julianna. :)

And I too have toyed with the idea of Rapunzel post hair cut (only thing is I have long hair :headache:) And I'm such a dork about costumes I want to be super cute and not have to explain who I am AND the costume be functional. hahaha And it doesn't help that I love Jasmine, Rapunzel, Ariel, Belle, Mulan and Jane. hahaha

Well, back to square one... I was feeling sick last week, and hadn't fulfilled my three runs for the week before, so I figured that I'd start my c25k over again with a new iPhone app. Unfortunately, i hadn't set the notifications corectly so I had to hold my phone in my hand (in the arm band) to keep an eye on the walk/run times.

And of course I've slowed down, but at least I know where I was before I stopped (which wasn't very far from where I am anyways, LOL!).

I am not a happy camper. I have a 5km race on Thursday night but i am getting a cold. :sad1: I was planning on doing a run walk anyway but it looks like i will be running even less then i had planned.
