Yep! Well, actually it's a "Team Sparkle" sparkle skirt. It can be ordered here: http://www.team-sparkle.com/

I know there's another website out there for another skirt called a "Sparkle Skirt" too (I beleive this other company may have had a booth at the expo this year)...2 different companies though and I think they are also made a little differently. I really liked the one I got though and will definitely buy more in other colors for future races! It weighs almost nothing so I was able to add fun color and sparkle over my compression shorts to go with my rhinestones on my shirt but not even feel like I had anything extra on. (I had a tutu on stand-by too, but in the end decided it was "poofier" than I wanted it to be and with it being my first big race, didn't want to have to deal with any wardrobe malfunctions! It may make an appearance in 2012 though!)

I thought it looked like a Team Sparkle Skirt. :)
BTW I'm wearing a traveling turquoise skirt for the 5K the family is running in May AND I will be buying a purple one the Princess! :dance3:

Oh cool! I read about the traveling skirt on their website...I love reading all the stories of the girls that wear them. How fun!!!

Hello all,

I too am joining in. I've been looking for motivation to start running again (ran competitively in high school and college, but haven't run since my oldest was born almost 15 years ago). It's been surprisingly easy to convince my husband to plan another Disney vacation around the Princess Half. I think in the back of his mind he thinks there is no way I'm going to complete the training to run.

I am presently in Week 2 of C25K and am scheduled to run a 5K at the beginning of June. I plan to then continue with training and run the Hershey 1/2 in October as my first 1/2.

Christina

Christina,

I will be doing the Hershey 1/2 Marathon in October as well, we live just outside of Hershey - its great to see someone so close. What 5k are you doing in June. I just fininshed the C25K program last week and have several 5ks planned for the next few months. I will be doing the rock'nRoll 1/2 in Philadelphia in September as my 1st 1/2 - I can't wait, I'm so excited, it sounds like so much fun!

Hi Christina!
I too am in week 2 of C25K. I just finished day 2 today and felt great. I live in Berks County, not far from Hershey (maybe 45 mins.). I'll definitely have to check into the 1/2 there!

I had to have my gallbladder removed 2 weeks after my baby was born, in December! Right about the 6-8 week mark I felt like I could really run again, but that was also with recovering from child birth too. :) Keep it up!

Wow, that must have been very difficult for you! I'm finding it difficult without a child; but it does keep getting better. My step-sis had to have her gallbladder out when she was 4 or 5 months pregnant; I don't know how she did it!

Did a 1.15 mile in 30 minutes tonight. Zooming right along. :) Thanks so much for the encouragement and hope - congrats on the baby!

Oh my gosh you guys I have fallen off the wagon!! I was doing so good and was so pumped after running my 5k, but then when I got sick and subsequently everyon in my family got sick, then it got ridiculously cold. . . I've only run once since the race (March 20th):scared1: I'm meeting DH at the gym today so he doesn't even get the chance to come home and convince me to veg out with him.

Welcome to all the new peeps and I gotta get on this daily mile thing. I'll be back when I sign up:goodvibes

You'll be fine! Your body will probably appreciate the time you've given it to repair :) Last year it happened twice during training that I had to miss about a week each time due to illness and a minor procudure that had to start to heal before I could put on my sports bra again...and I was getting nervous about that first run coming back, but both times I actually had a great 1st run and really felt sort of refreshed. That time off didn't set me back at all, and I'd even say it actaully helped me. I'm sort of side-lined right now too with a new knee issue that popped up last Friday. I really don't think it's anything major and am seeing a Dr. on monday about it just to be safe, but don't want to make it any worse so I'm not running until a Dr. see's it...I did some upper body strength work last night to substitute though. ;)

It's been cold and rainy here so I've been ... not so good myself. It's sad I tell you but like ... is it Summer?? said below (or rather above ) don't be so hard on yourself it happens.
And I'm on Dailymile :) so let us know when you are on. I have to say it does help me keep track and accountable.

I had my gallbladder out 4 weeks after my first baby. That was 15 years ago.

I'm recovering from having a couple of wisdom teeth out. The surgery wasn't too bad. Not even any swelling, but the dry sockets I got were horrendous. Nine days of pain. I think I've finally turned the corner and am healing. No pain meds yesterday. Now I can start thinking about running again.

I'm finally getting back into running and training after taking a break after the Princess Half. I had started running again, but then went back to Disney World for my graduation trip and decided I did NOT want to run that trip... Not that I got to sleep in because my friend and I did a bunch of the early morning tours.

But I'm back now and have been running somewhat. Just short 2.5 miles, but I almost went for 4 today. I felt good running, but was already incredibly sore so I decided to take it easy. Since I only have 1 class right now (love being a graduating senior), I'm also doing more circuit training which I haven't done since before the race.

Gonna be sore, but I'm one of those crazy people that like being sore...

I'll be there. Going to be there with two of my wonderful girl friends. I'm not a runner and am currently doing the couch to 5k program. On week 5 and am so amazed that I have been able to run for 5 min straight without falling off the treadmill. Looking forward to crossing the finish line.:thumbsup2

Hi Tammy,

We are really close! I live between York and Harrisburg. I work in Harrisburg and my husband works in Hershey!! I am running a local 5k at my son's high school that benefits our school district (Northeastern York). It is great to know that there is someone nearby who is running some of the same races as I am.

Hey, all! Got the May Runner's World today and the cover says this month's issue is aimed at beginners! Might want to check it out if it's in your newstand or library.

I got a number. I am still resting up my foot, guess I need to start training soon! Not 100% sure i am doing it....the logistics might be too much for me LOL. It is fun though...even if I do it alone!

Julie,

Yay, congrats!! If you do the race please let me know. I would love to see some disers! I hope your foot fills better.

It was rough! DH had just "spent" all of his PTO when we had the baby, so he couldn't take any time off besides the day of the surgery! I spent 3 days at my parents' house after the surgery and had lots of help from Nana & Papa! Don't know how I could have done it otherwise!

marathonmommy- I swear, your blog is making me jones to do so many half marathons... and I haven't even begun to work at the Couch to 5k program yet!!

-Princess Half February 24-26 2012

LOL and thanks!!!! It's addicting. Can't wait to read yours one day!
You have some great races picked out. I'd love to do Vegas myself!

I can be pretty darn competitive. And I am worried that I might not get into the spirit of the run if I ran a 1/2 marathon before the Princess, because knowing me I'll probably want to improve my time. BUT if I don't run a 1/2 beforehand I know me very well and I could be disappointed if the pictures I stop to take mess with my time at the end (the time in my head that I want to be under). (sigh) Well DH came up with a pretty good plan. He suggested I keep my own personal "official" time on my watch and stop the time if I stop in a line for cast pictures. It's a good plan and it just might work for me but I'm still slightly torn.
Suggestions or opinions??[/QUOTE]

Mamawolf,
As a very competitive person myself, I had the same feelings before the Princess race this year. My daughter talked me into running the race (never ran before in my life except to escape someone or thing!). We started training in October after we registered for the race. In November, we ran a 10K to get a good corral location so we would not be at the back with the walkers. It is wonderful that walkers and runners alike compete, but we had been forewarned by my sister that if we wanted to run, it was best to get a seed time so we would not have to run extra miles running around walkers and slower groups. This was a great tip and helped us out tremendously. We were in corral B and started at 6:53am. The last corrals probably started close to 7:30am.

We had intended on taking photos along the route, having agreed to run the race together. However, we made the decision that we would just run and take photos before and after the race. This proved to be an excellent decision as my daughter ended up quite ill during/after the race. I don't think she could have finished if we had made stops along the way. Our goal was to run under 2:30 and we met that at 2:28.07. As your first big race, the Princess is wonderful.....atmosphere and sights along the way make it such fun. I thought this race was my first and last.....but I am signed up for the Disneyland Half Marathon in September and am running a 5K tomorrow just for fun! My goal for my next half is around 2:10......I think this is doable with my training! My sister will hope to capture first in her age category in CA after winning her age category in FL with a 1:54.....and she is 61 years old!

Good luck with training......competitiveness is great for running!

As for the Princess being the first 1/2 marathon... well I am torn myself. My reasons are crazy to sensible.

I had the same feelings, but what won out was that I LOVE Disney and could not imagine wasting the opportunity to get all these pics! For all I know, it could have been a once-in-a-lifetime opp. I am also pretty competitive (with myself) and I always want to better my time. I went into the Princess with a time goal - much longer than it would have been if I were doing a regular half, but still a goal. If it were a regular half, based on the times I was running in training, I prob. could have finished in about 2:15. However, I allowed myself 2:45 for pics, and I made it in 2:42! So I was pleased and it served both my purposes - getting the shots AND meeting a time goal! However, I think your hubs plan is also a good one, but it does give you one more thing to think about and have to keep up with! But you have a whole year to hash it out in your head!:yay:

Just had to share the joy with fellow runners!!! Went to runningwarehouse.com and found my Ravennas on sale for $55.50!!! Normally $100, these are closing out b/c they came out with the Ravenna 2. Also, free 2-day ship AND got a free Brooks tech tee and free resuseable bag with $50 of Brooks gear. There used to be a 15% discount code for them from the wish board - WISHD - but it must be expired b/c I tried and it didn't take anything off. Anyway - GREAT deal! If you wear Ravennas and need new ones, run! (No pun intended!) In my size there were only 3 left. Hope this helps someone!;)
