Just stumbled accross this site, and the half marathon infact, a marathon for Princesses, my dream!

This may be a wee bit random, I'd love to do the run but I live in Melbourne, Australia and am not so keen on going it alone... I was wondering if there were any others looking for someone to run with and wanted to do the run together?

Alright Girls! I've been gone for at least a week...having kidney issues again but I'm ready to get going. I'm officially signed up on Daily Mile, (requested a few of you that I saw in the last few pages of posts) Sara M Delaware Ohio. Can't wait to have another way to communicate with all of you awesome Princesses!

:lovestruc

Finished week 4 of my marathon training yesterday with a 5 mile run - 1 did 2 min run/1 min walk - seemed to work well and the 5 miles went fast. It's hard to believe that 4 short months ago I couldn't run a minute! Although it's still hard for me to imagine running 13.1 miles!

Week 5 starts tomorrow - I'm doing 3.5 miles 3 days a week, then my long run on Sundays. I shooting for running the 3.5 without walking and doing the walk/run on the longer runs. I have a 5K on Saturday and hoping to improve my time!

I just booked my room reservation for the Princess half!!!:cool1::banana:I'm planning on staying for 13 nights @Coronado, but may switch a few nights to stay @the host hotel (not sure what that is yet). The agent said that the packages should be out in Aug. so I'll adjust everything then. But I am guaranteed a room and now I'm really excited about this race/trip!:dance3::cheer2::yay:

You are the first I've seen to book! I think you should get some kind of award for that! A gal after my own control freak/ultra-planning heart! Here's a couple of these for ya!:cool1::cheer2:

I've already got my adrs figured out..... :scared1: i have to hide my worksheet on it because I know my husband will think I have a MAJOR problem. I know, I know isn't that a sign of an addiction? Hiding your problem from loved ones? Ugh!

2012 is going to be an expensive Disney year as I plan on participating in the DL half in Sept. 2012....I want that Coast to Coast medal! I do cleaning on the side, so I'll be scrubbing my fingers to the bones to save up enough cash flow for these trips! ha,ha. I'm so out of control!:cutie:

I'd like to check in after reading these posts for over a month now. I had posted back in Feb that myself and DD are seriously thinking of running the Princess 1/2 in 2012.
We started training at the end of Feb - in fact the day of the Princess run!
Now we (and DH) are on week 5 of "Get Running" - an app I found for the iPhone.
We are re-running week 4. I wanted to post where we were in training so I could get some input.
On week 4 you warm up 5 minutes, run 3 minutes, walk 1 1/2, run 5, walk 1 1/2, run 3, walk 1 1/2, run 5, then cool down 5 min.
We are re-running week 4 because on the last 5 min run it felt like I was really struggling to finish it and didn't want to move on until I could run it without feeling like I needed CPR when I was done.
Do you think we are on track or do we need to try another program?:confused3
I also wanted to add that I really love reading all the posts and blogs and watching the videos. I have gotten all kinds of great advice!
TIA:)

I did Couch to 5K (aka C25K) starting in July (don't have and don't want an iPhone). Finished that up in September and did my own thing for a couple of weeks until I started my official training plan for the January Half - only 14 weeks - that I found in "Marathoning for Mortals". Most plans that I've seen are 14-16 weeks for a Half.

I'm also going for the C2C medals! I'm in Oregon so it would be crazy to not try for the other one in Disneyland!

Hey everyone! I will be running the princess with my sister and we are very excited. It will be our first half.

We will be doing a 10K on May 30th so we can have a qualifying time for corral placement. Does anyone know what 10K times will put you in corral A or B?

This may be a dumb question, but what does W.I.S.H stand for? I have no idea what it is. :confused3

I submitted a time of 1:12 for a 10k and was in coral B.

I'm signed up for the WDW half in January as my first half! I'm planning on signing up for the Princess as well. I'm almost into week 5 of my 5k training..so I am slowly but surely progressing! I've skimmed through this thread and it's great to see everyone's progress and motivation! I have a question for those who have started in corral B..

Do a lot of people in those corrals use the run/walk method? I feel as though I could do a 10k in around an hour and 15 minutes, but wouldn't want to look like an idiot if I walked at all in that group of people.

I wouldn't worry about it. Jeff Galloway is the official Run Disney race guru so you will see lots of run/walkers. I was in corral B and was alot slower than anticpated due to an injury, I just was courteous when I changed from run to walk and no seemed to be ok. Literally THOUSANDS of people passed me, who cared, I finished and was able to get my medal. AND I had a blast on the way!

I don't think you will look silly at all.

Mine is older, but whatever you end up with, CHECK THE BATTERIES! My camera takes AAs and I had put fresh ones in the day before, but with all the park pics and trying to take zoom pics in low light at the beginning of the race, the batteries started to die halfway through and needed time to juice back up between pics. I should have brought an extra pair.

Also, my friend has the kind of camera that has a rechargeable battery. We got to the race...and she had left the battery back at the room, still charging. :scared1: She was devastated!

No Amy, I took it off the charger...and put it BACK in the camera bag..NOT in the camera which was with my spibelt. DOH! Yeah, I was upset...but whatever still had fun. Getting up at 3am is not my forte I suppose. :confused3

I have a canon elph, takes great pictures and movies. point and shoot.

Hi all
I am loving this thread. i don't know if i am running this one or 2013 but do you mind if i follow along anyways?
Heather

I think my DD and I are going to run the Zooma 10K in Annapolis, MD on June 5th so she submit her time for placement. I'm gonna do it for the experience, I can't imagine at this point that my time will be any good for placement. I have another 10k planned in October and with training all summer, I'm hoping to run it in the 60-70 minute range. Anyone else planning on this race?

Congratulations for finishing week 4 and good luck with your 5k!!:cheer2:

Went with friends who ran the princess 2011 and as my husband tells it "someone fliped her marathon switch" I've already started training and am running my first 5K this weekend in richmond, Va.

My name is cynthia and I am 52. I am trying to get the coast to coast this year so my first half will be in Disneyland and then I have signed up for the half wine and dine!!!

I feel stronger every mile I run. and younger too.
now if my butt would just get that memo....LOL!

So in talking about the marathon, how are the parks around this date? I'd thought of making it an extended trip if I DID do it, but looking at TP it looks like every day is a 5 or up! I can't do crowds like that - 5 or below, maybe, but not super-crowded all the time.

This year we arrived on Friday night and then stayed until Wednesday after the race. Crowds were high for the weekend because the week prior to the race was evidently a school break for certain regions of the country and there was also President's Day weekend. I personally didn't do any park touring on saturday prior to the race because I was at the Expo and then resting off my feet the rest of the day, but after the race I thought the crowds were very light. We literally walked right on to several rides (without a FP)...in particular we rode Tower of Terror twice back to back with no wait at all. I remeber when we went to ride Test Track, the wait time said 70 mins...we had FP for soarin' and some time to kill so we got in line...there wasn't a soul to be seen, so I knew 70 mins was a mistake...we walked right up to the pre-ride video room and then only waited for proably less than 10 mins to get on the ride...don't know what the 70 min was about!!! (oh and this was NOT right at park opening either...I'd say probably close to 11am that day.)
