Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Thank you so much for telling me!! It relieves stress to know what's going to happen! He was going to loan me his coat! Do you really have to get in line one hour before the race???? That's horrible. Can I leave and use the restroom and get back in line?

This is based on my marathon weekend experience, not the princess, but i suspect it is similar. It's not a "line" per se, but a slow group trudge from the family waiting area/bag check/port-a-potty city to the corrals. There are some port-a-potties along the way and near the corrals, and you may leave a corral to use the restroom if ncessary -- though you may have trouble getting back in if it is close to the race start.

Speaking of which, now that it is getting close, maybe we need a discussion about the most important aspect of the race? Where are the best restrooms? I am just not a port-a-potty kind of gal...i always try to hold out till the TTC if i can because the restrooms there (just past the giftshop and the ramp to the monorail) are fairly empty and with plenty of stalls to avoid a wait. There is also a pretty good one just before you re-enter Epcot, after you've passed under the monorail tracks, but sometimes you need to push through the spectators to get to it. What other "real" bathrooms have you used along the route with mimimal inconvenience/time constraints?

Hi Princesses! I'm writing my next blog post for the Disney Driven Life. It's about the Princess half. Is anyone a member over on that site? I want to give everyone a shout out in my post!

Well, it definitely looks like I will be bringing up the rear, as I just found out that I'm bib # 14863!:scared1:

But in happier news, I got my 10 miles in yesterday, and it turned out to be my fastest time yet. It's so weird how I'm faster outside than on the treadmill, but hey I'll take it!!

You are not alone - I am 14546! My friend that I am going to the race with is in the 7000's - so we are not in the same corral :(

Well, it stinks to have such a high number, but also good to know that there will be someone else back there with me! My running partner's number is in the 8000's.

So agree with this. When I started using my Garmin (FR60W) with the foot-pod which the guy at my LRS helped me calibrate correctly, I discovered that I was actually running a few tenths of a mile faster than the treadmill said I was. Over a 45-50 minute workout, that adds up.

This is way late but I realized you have a FR60W and I am just getting started with mine.

How do you view avg pace/mile and current pace/mile? Is is possible? I read through the manual and it's not very good at describing what to do...

I know I disappeared off the face of the earth but I just realised the bib numbers are out. I'm 8546, in case anyone is near me. I also noticed we don't have to wait till the expo to sign up people for the notifications, I just hope they work better than in January. My parents aren't in the US so the e-mail notifications are the only way they'll hear my result.

Congrats on everyone on their long runs! I did 11.25 (inside due to weather :sad2:) this weekend but had to stop due to a blister on the inside of my toe. It's so painful!

Just a reminder to trim the toenails if you havent' done so already. I know Coach Charles said to do it about a month before so I might be a little late. I'm struggling with an ingrown toenail so that's what reminded me. The sucker is really making it a challenge to train.

I also managed to find a good top to wear for my 'outfit'. It's still work out clothes but I decided to theme it with colours and head-wear to be Rapunzel. Super excited as all I have left to make is the flower hair pieces and my tiara headband!

I trim my toenails at least once every two weeks, sometimes once a week. Between playing ice hockey and running, even a little bit too much toenail is immediately obvious.

Pedicures are totally wasted on me!

WOW how cold do you all think it will be on race day?
I know last year was really cold but I wasn't thinking this year would be.
I can't run fast in alot of clothes and I was just thinking of wearing a running skirt and tank top as soon as the race starts, probably will have my sleeves. I will have pants and a hoodie to throw away but as soon as its a few minutes to start they all come off.

I also always talk about running and most of my friends have no interest or understand he lingo, too bad ;)

I was planning on wearing the same thing (skirt, tank, sleeves). Hey- are yours pink? I believe we are in the same corral, and that would be too funny if we are dressed alike as well.

Question: What do you do about wearing your number when you have all of those layers on top? Do you just leave your jackets unzipped until you get into your corral and then zip up?

I also have some clips to add my race-number onto my Spibelt. It works awesome, plus gives you a little pocket to put any necessary item in (like a Gu or room key or phone/camera). I know spibelt sells them along with many other websites.

Love my spibelt!!

LOL!

My running skirts is black, its a pink Nike tank and black sleeves with pink Run Girl Run logo on it. I will also have a pink belt that holds my bib # and extra pocket for Gu and kleenex and camera for this race. Okay I will look out for #858 ;)

I just got my bib number #10533 and i signed up in Oct (early) with a 15 min mile pace.

I'm getting so excited!!!

Summer I'm glad you got it worked out! I love your shirt too!

I am the same way. I think the treadmill messes with my stride since I run at the front. I tried running in the middle and somehow I always end up back at the front. If I don't pay close enough attention I end up kicking the darn thing.

I was planning on ordering both the belt and the clips today, but I was wondering how low do the bibs hang? Is it in the way hanging from your waist?

Thanks! It was a big relief to get it sorted out. I finished the front of my shirt too...it's just another rhinestone transfer of a Minnie head outline wearing a crown...I'll have to get a picture posted!

I am so ready to go! I just now realized the other day that President's day falls on the monday of that week...so excited about that because I'll be off of work and can use that day to get most of my stuff packed! We're going straight to the airport Friday after work so all my stuff has to come to work with me...that's going to be a stressful morning, but hopefully the day off will relieve some of that.

I work in a hospital and was talking to a nurse who works in IT, telling here about my Princess Half. OMG she says, my parents volunteer at Disny runs.
Theybwill be at water stations, so now i have to stop and take pic with them. Will do it happily. I love the volunteers.

I'd LOVE to know this too !!
I had to use the portapotty in one of my halfs and I almost threw up in there

I almost got the same sleeves! I have a pink tank, pink skirt (I'm either wearing a tutu I picked up in the girls dept at Target or my pink SkirtSports skirt), a pink headband, and pink running sleeves. Oh yes, and hot pink knee socks! I'll keep an eye out for you as well.

My number is in the 9,000s. I can't recall exactly what the number is now.

I ran a short 3 miles today in 36 minutes. I was happy with that. I slowed down to a walk a few times because the park I run in has a board walk and the boards were wet this morning, it had just finished raining.

I seeing the layers that some of you are wearing - I am getting worried. I will probably just be in a running skirt and a tank and bring a zip-up toss away sweatshirt and blanket for the morning waiting. If we end up with a cold front that weekend, I'll revisit my running gear plan, but for now, I'm a bit of a minimalist. :rotfl:

If anyone still needs a bib, please send me a PM. I'm selling mine because I have an ankle injury that's not going to heal in time. My bib is a low-ish number (2000s) so that might be of interest to someone.

Good luck to everyone else in the race!
