Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Saysay- I was thinking the same thing! lol

I might be in Corral C or D, but I am gonna get passed by 90% of yall. I think mine might be "WISH me a Happy Birthday!" (my bday is the 28th!)

Probably best option would be some kind of big A sticker you can run through your printer at home and just slap that on your back.

I am buying one of those tiara visors for sure! Thanks for the update!

Happy Birthday! Mine was yesterday! Those visors look really cool! I think I like them best of all.

No. Way. I actually got outside TWO whole days in a row for a run! Yippee! And dare I say? The rest of the week is looking pretty favorable for outdoor running... :cloud9:

I never had to go during a long run last year, but had to go once after the magic kingdom. Oh it was horrible! I also don't drink during runs, so I think grabbing the water was why I had to use the porta-potty. This year...I'm visiting the porta-pottys before the race starts and then I'm with you I'll go in a real rest room with real sinks! I might also add a small bottle of sanatizer and tissues to my spibelt, just in case.

My longish run on Sunday turned into a short run, my legs just didn't want to run. I'm hoping to get in one last long run this weekend. Jeff Galloway says 14, so that's what I'll try for, assuming the trail is clear.
Darn another thing to add to my spi belt list, sanatizer. I already have the tissues on there
I have 14 planned for Friday too, but I am already talking myself down to 13.5-ish.

For those not going all out in costume or who are concerned about keeping a real tiara on during the race...
runningprincess.com now has the tiara visors in stock. I'd posted about them a while ago when they told me they'd be bringing them to the Expo. But they e-mailed me last week to say they were in stock now. They are a white visor with an embroidered silver tiara and you can order "stones" for no extra charge to add the bling! I chose yellow since my bib will be Belle yellow but I'm not sure I'll put them on.

They ARE bringing them to the Expo though and you'll save shipping if you buy it there. They are $25 on the website + $4.60 USPS shipping. I ordered at 6:30am today and just got a notice that it shipped.

~~~Jennifer~~~
Thanks for the info! I already have a Bondi band, but I wanted a visor in case of rain. I don't mind the rain I just hate it on my face. Plus it would just be nice to have.
Off and on I am getting pretty antsy. I have a bunch going on the next couple of weeks so I am hoping that will distract me some.
I might buy a pink sparkle skirt at the expo if I think it won't bug me on the run and a bondi band headband at the expo. Can I ask what brand your socks are and where you got them?
My socks are from runningskirts.com. They are compression socks...and they feel FANTASTIC!
I have a hot pink bondiband with a tiara on it. It's really cute. They also sell them in girls sizes.
Does anyone know how long Bondi Bands take to come in? I want to order one but I'm not sure if it will get here in time. I'd rather not take my chances with the expo, because I'm not going until Saturday.
I've ordered from them numerous times. Usually only a 1 week turnaround time. They'd come in if you ordered now (depending on when you are heading to WDW that is).
Went to disneysports@trackshack.com and this is what it said:
D***** with birthday 02/07/1965 not found
I edited out my name with *** for this post.
That's the same message I got last weekend when trying to get my race number...turns out I had entered my birthdate incorrectly when I registered so that's why it wouldn't find me. I called the number listed on the runDisney website and it was a quick, easy fix.
I have a question. This is my first race. How do you attach the bib to your shirt and which shirt do you attach it to. I mean if I start out in a warmer shirt and strip down to layers where does the bib go.
I use the safety pins that are supposed to come with your bib packet (I have a box of 100 from Jo-Ann's as a back up.)
You should pin it to the outermost layer you are not going to take off, because you don't want to discard it if it is attached to your outermost layer that you are going to toss off after the first mile or so.
Thanks how do I know which will be the outermost layer I will not take off. Depending on the temperature it could be my base layer or the one right above it. Does the number have to be visible during the run?
It doesn't have to be visible, but if it isn't, the official photographer will not be able to see your bib number and therefore you will have trouble with any official race photos.
Another option is to attach it to your skirt or shorts.
I have been reading along on this thread, but not commenting much. I really appreciate the info you ladies are sharing! I am planning to order a bondi band today, but I need help deciding! My bib is Belle, so I was going to order the yellow tiara. Unfortunately, the only yellow tiara they have comes on a hunter green bondi band, and I prefer black. I am trying to decide between pink, purple, or silver (I wish they had blue as that is also one of Belle's colors). I guess I am just going to have to pick one. I have pink and purple shirts, so I could go with either of those, or I could pick a silver since it is more generic. I am not dressing up since it is my first half (I didn't want to fool with "extra" stuff), so this is the extent of my costume. What do you princesses think?
Thanks for the input!
for the 10k I did Thanksgiving, I attached it to my long sleeve outer layer then when I got hot, I tied it around my waiste with the number showing. It didn't bother me, but my outer layer was a super light tech top...zipper neck so easy to get off. Plus I got my pics...
I was having the same problems with the colors I wanted so I called them and they told me how to order it to get the colors I want. I can't remember what I did but it wasn't difficult and they were very nice to work with.
OK this is my story: Had a really bad year starting in Dec 09 with an unexpected death of our 17 yo nephew, fell in January and hurt myself, totalled my car in February. The rest of the year was also filled with several deaths - again one totally unexpected of my 49 yo cousin. But in March I happened to be at Epcot when the princess race was finishing. I was smitten. Could I do that? Well to make a long story short, I started walking at the end of May, did a 5K and thought I would die, but kept walking. Lost 20 lbs. Several weeks later, I felt so good, I ran - "Holy moley!!! I didn't know I could do that!!!! Nothing fell off or anything!" Ran a 1/2 marathon in July with a 14:30 m/m....another in September with a 12:50 m/m. This is just amazing to me that I am running races......
So...this is just so amazing to me to be running the Princess 1/2 marathon in a few weeks. Just got my Bib number: 5810! Will be thrilled just to be with all you ladies! :banana:
Such a sad story but a great way to make good come out of it!
I started running because my best friend went through terrible complications from a heart surgery. She eventually had to have her leg amputated just below her knee. One day we were talking on the phone and she said it was so hard to learn to walk again. Her prosthesis was very painful, but she wanted to walk so badly. She asked me to keep her accountable and then she asked me what I needed accountability with. I told her that while not nearly so difficult I wanted to lose weight and be healthy. She said, 'We will climb our mountains together.' About a month later her health quickly declined and she passed away.
It will be two years the end of March since her death. I was very depressed for a long time and still struggle with it. Some time in May '10 I found out about the Princess half marathon. I decided to honor my vow to Valerie to lose weight and started training in June.
On my runs when it gets so hard that I don't think I can go on I think of her and how hard she worked just to walk. Remembering her courage inspires me to finish (with tears running down my face).
One of the quotes on my shirt is hers and I run in her memory.
Merci
I was looking at a friends pictures from the 1/2 marathon this year and noticed that Mickey was standing at the finish line taking pictures with some people. Is there usually a character right at the finish line? Do you have to take a picture with them before you cross, or can you finish the race then go back to take the picture? I'm trying to get as many character pictures as I can!
Oh my gosh!! This made me tear up a bit.
So sorry for your loss, and what an inspiration for you. Wow. :hug:
That's really a beautiful story. Isn't is wonderfully strange how strength can come from adversity? I started this whole running gig because i was telling my dad about this half marathon and how it seemed like it would be fun to do. Two days later, he fell and hit his head on the kitchen tile and never recovered. It will be a year next month, and I always think of him at some point during my running. And that was pretty much the last conversation I had with him, so I told myself that I HAD to do this bc I had told him I would.
Thanks for taking the time to post that.
Is there anyone out there with a high bib number (I'm 14863), who's still looking for a race buddy? I know it's getting close, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Hopefully there's still someone out there who's like me and doesn't want to run alone!
Do you do all running or intervals? I am an intervaller and am doing this by myself too and also have a higher bib number.
That's such an inspiring story. I know you'll do great in the race with your friend in your memory and heart!
