What brand is your skirt? I love the length.

hey guys! it's been a LOOOONG time since i've been on here. the last i posted was that i couldn't do the princess half due to the ortho surgeon telling me i can't run anymore because of my congenital hip dysplasia :sad1: ANYWAY...through much consideration and changing of my goals...i am now registered and training for the Royal Family 5k :woohoo: i've been walking every week...2 miles twice a week and 3.1 once a week. it is not what i wanted to do (the disney princess) but it is an adjusted goal and i'm really starting to get excited. i told my trainer that i know i'm not suppose to, but i will run across that finish line :yay: who knows, maybe if i work up to it for next year i can walk the disney princess, but i do think that if i tried this year, i would get swept cause i'm not crazy fast and the distance does get to me. i wish all of you luck in this next month or so of training, and i wish i could be joining you all that sunday morning! just think of me on saturday, doing my little 5k! :cheer2:

jess princess:

Let's hear for adjusted goals! Woot Woot! :cheer2: I too had planned on doing the Princess, but came up lame with a stress fracture and couldn't run for the last three months. Since I was able to start some running this week, I too have signed up for the Royal Family 5K and will do the Galloway walk/run method! I am excited, expecially since we get to run through World Showcase. And a medal is a medal, afterall! I do have family and a friend running the Princess without me, but I will certainly be there to cheer them across the finish line.

Thought I knew exactly what I was going to wear. Even made the tutu...now I'm so excited, that I'm obsessed with the outfit for this race! UGH! Keep changing my mind.

I would like a sparkle skirt, but the yellowish color from team sparkle looks so sheer! And it doesn't look like sparkleskirts.com makes a yellow color.

I know what you mean, I will probably be wearing Capris, so don't care that the skirt is sheer, just means its lightweight. I would love to try the sparkleskirt website running short, but decided to go with yellow. And yes, I will try it out on a run when I get it... you know I will get some stares.

I was toying with the idea of doing the GOLD skirt or even a blue one with light blue top. And I think if I can get some more $$ in my paypal account, I might just get me a sparkleskirt also! SO cute.

Yeah, and I ran today to train...but the outift planning is so much more fun!

I can't believe that I will be there in 7 weeks!:yay:

Planning an 11-mile run tomorrow. I've come a long way in the last 6 months!

Time to focus on my costume, too. There is one thing I don't understand, though. In everybody's pictures, they look wonderful. When I run, I look like a mess! What am I doing wrong?:confused3

What brand is your skirt? I love the length.

It's New Balance, but I got it three years ago for the first Princess.
I make a shirt with Princess Aurora the first year and the back of the shirt I wearing in this photo has Princess Minnie...just like her in the photo.

I am so inspired by all of you !!! Inspired to think about costumes too !!! DH thinks I'm nuts.

Just had to post and say, Joan, I love the pictures. You look so cute and happy. Love the minnie costume.

Can't believe it's getting so close now. I just ordered a sparkleskirt in magenta, and Lisa who I"m running with got one in black. THey look so cute, and it's so fun to plan our outfits.

Disneygirlrn and Mamacrush- Congrats on signing up for the 5k!! You can do it!! That will be so amazing to run around world showcase.

Just a question for those who have done halfs at disney before if you carry a camera. Do you carry it in your hand the whole way, or have a waist pack and put it in and out? It seems I've seen a lot of pics of every mile marker in the trip reports I've read, so i'm wondering if most of you just hold it.

Thanks.

I was almost forced to reconsidering running the marathon after an old sprain stopped my training for a while. Luckily I was already seeing a physical therapist and we were able to get me going again. I'll be going for 7 miles on Sunday! I absolutely cannot wait. :yay:

Everyone's ideas for costumes have been great! I think I might go with getting running apparel in the appropriate colors for a princess. I'm thinking Ariel (I'm a red head and I'm coming from a competitive swimming past) or maybe Tiana or Rapunzel. I don't know... we'll see.

Keep up on the training everyone!:cheer2:

If you wore some kind of waist pack, which one do you have.....one more thing I need to add to my running supplies. I know I will want my camera, some GU and some lip stuff.....not that I want to be a pack mule on the race, but thinking about now what I want to have on my body and the best way to transport. :-) Tahnks for this question also about camera, been wondering myself!

Disneygirlrn and Mamacrush - wanted to also say way to be flexible in your training and taking care of your body! Its still a cool race with an awesome route. Inspiring to see you didn't just quit exercising all together!

Hi Everyone!

Sounds like we are all looking forward to this race!!

Do we have a list of people who are going and maybe where they are staying?

Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Susan

I have a spibelt...a small belt with a small pocket to put stuff in. They are usually at the expo. I carry a camera in it. They are very nice to carry a phone or snack when on long runs too. Actually the minnie skirt I made, I put in pocket with velco closures to carry stuff.

Hey Susan,
There is space in the beginning of the thread...the person who started this is running her first full marathon this weekend! So it will be added I am sure.

So excited about this race!

Just be sure that you train with whatever waist pack you end up getting. I had a Nathan Trail Mix 2 hydration belt with a pouch that I got a few days before my first half marathon, and as I posted a couple of pages back I took only one 3 mile spin with it before the race. On race day it bounced and chafed me like nobody's business. Great pouch and perfect with two bottles, it just didn't cinch up tight enough for me to not have it ride around on my waist (I'm a pretty small gal), I've since passed it along to one of my running buds who likes it a lot.

I switched to just the Nathan Sprint handheld and I got a little velcro shoe pouch as SWAG at a race that I have on my Sprint that holds my Sport Beans. I did get a couple of new Pearl Izumi race tops as end of season closeouts at my LRS that have a little pouch mid-back that I plan on using for gels or beans...can't wait to wear them when the temps warm up! I think I'll wear one for the Princess half - both are princessy colors: aqua and pink :)

That doesn't help with the camera, but I don't plan on carrying one. I do run with my EVO Android phone clipped to the back of my pants/shorts using the Amphipod Beltpod SmartView, which works really well and would fit a small thin camera, or Amphipod makes other "lock on" packs in case, like me, a belt doesn't work for you: http://www.amphipod.com/products/holders/lock-on-micropacks

I cannot agree more!! Thinking about what to wear is way more fun than thinking "Gee, this treadmill is soooo boring."

I would really love to run the Wine and Dine only because I had the most awesome idea of making some fairy wings using glow necklaces since it's a night race.

Apparently, I run for the costumes...

I look a mess too!! You are not alone.

Omgooodness!! I'm gone for a few days and now it's sparkleskirts all around!! I was just getting into planning my "no sew tutu" (thanks M'thonMom) and NOW I'm conflicted! Those skirts are really cute!

I can't decide if I want to put "WISH" somewhere on my shirt, if I want to do green or pink, the list goes on!

Last year I didn't costume it up at all. I was more into the race challenge & was afraid to be distracted by floppy clothing. And truthfully, I've never been a princessy sort of gal. Now, what do ya' know--this race has brought out the Princess in me & I'm goin all out!:cool1:princess:

The sparkle skirt looks cute. For the 5K my daughter and I are wearing blk running tights, a pink tutu and a black tech shirt that says "Running Princess" in rhinestones. Now for the half I was just thinking of wearing my black runningskirt and not sure what top, thinking just my pink nike running tank, but not sure yet :confused3 Decisions, decisions!

I caried mine in one hand; it is prety slim so it fit comfortably. I also ran with it a couple times to figure out the best way to hold it (and to practice taking pics while moving!)

My KT tape sems to be helping my knee for everyday walking; I'll be testing it in the pool and on a run today.
