Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Congratulations, everyone. I ran 13.1 on Saturday night along the Hudson River in honor of y'all. Just a training run for National next month, but I thought of everyone in their tutus and tiaras!

hey amy! it was a really fun race and a great first race for me! we definitely missed you! i'm sore today and my feet are all blistered but i'm already thinking about the full or at least the half in january! maybe i'll do the bronx half. i think there is one in the summer?

totally still starving today. but i need to cut back now. i gained three pounds over the weekend! ewwww! need to get into a bathing suit in the beginning of may!

princesses - what are you now going to do as far as running? i can't possibly think of running for a couple days but i want to stay in shape. are you signing up for more races? how do you keep up the base we now have?

The Bronx Half, ironically, is the last day of our vacation.... in Orlando. LOL. We'll be at the Brooklyn, Queens and SI Half Marathons, though.

I'm running the Bronx Zoo 5k April 30th, though.

As for January... I'm a "maybe" on the full. I'm running MCM on 10/30. If our DVC goes through by then, I'll see if we can book January and Princess.

oh i'm definitely going to do the bronx zoo 5k. we are members and spend so much time there! in fact, my husband took thomas there on saturday AND sunday this weekend while i was away (i think he just goes for their awesome chicken tenders though lol)

Congratulations to everyone! It was an amazing race and I must say that everyone looked great doing it.

As for a race report: I hurt, but I'm seeing my physical therapist tomorrow and while I know he'll make me hurt more, I also know eventually I'll feel better.

My friend and I had dinner last night at the Flying Fish for the Chef's Wine Tasting and it was amazing. We're both foodies (her more so than me) so it was an amazing experience. After hearing about my run and seeing my pictures, she thinks she'll run it next year. Considering we think of ourselves as sisters and our families think of us as sisters, it's going to be a huge family weekend, but it'll be fun.

So I guess I can said: 364 days to 2012 Princess Half Marathon!

I'm amazed how many people ran in outfits that I would not think were necessarily conducive to running 1 mile in, forget 13.1.

I was hovering near the balloon lady during the last half of the race, too. I have to say, the encouragement and sisterhood felt by those of us struggling was very emotional. I was able to get some pictures and hope to do it again next year.

We saw the 3 Sleeping Beauty fairies in the parking lot and wondered how in the world they would make it with those hats! It was warm and I don't know how people made it in long dresses or long tights. Great costumes though! Fun race.

i am bummed that i didn't get more princess half merchandise at the expo. i bought an "i did it" shirt but i wish i had a hat too. i thought maybe ebay might have something and i found TWO people selling their medals! WHAAAAT??? i'm going to sleep with that medal every night! i wouldn't sell it for anything!!

is it too late to buy any princess stuff online? will disney have a sale on anything?

I just got home a few hours ago and I'm still pumped from the race! I stopped for a TON of pictures (I think it took me almost 30 mins to get through the Magic Kingdom ) and I still managed to keep my goal of under 3 hours! 2:52:54 . I got to mile 8 I believe and realized I'd have to hoof it to make a sub 3 time and after looking back at my pics I noticed my first 5k of the race was almost 10 minutes slower than my last 5k (miles 10-13.1). Negative splits anyone?

I read on the runDisney fb page that there was a 13.1 Mickey head shaped magnet for sale at the expo, but they sold out. Did anyone here see it or buy it?

So they kept the medal exactly the same as last year and just replaced the middle stone with the Peridot colored "stone". Very cool race reports!

Next years weekend is February 24-26th. They moved it to February from now on I guess instead of the first weekend in March for the first two years.

Once you leave the Expo, your chances of getting any merchandise are slim. They always have the tent at the finish area but it has always been slim pickings. As far as people selling their medals, you see that happen a lot. It makes no sense to me at all! Why run those 13.1 miles and not keep your medal, especially when you pay so much for the weekend. I wouldn't give up any one of my medals. They are mine, mine, mine!!

Unless a medal has some sort of special meaning to me (first marathon, first Goofy, etc.), I wouldn't have a problem selling it. I'd rather have it go to someone who wants an extra medal to make a shadow box or something like that than hanging off my closet rod with the rest of them. Of course, giving old medals away to Medals for Mettle is also a good way to reduce clutter and do some good for others.

Congratulations to all the runners. Where did you find the dates for February 26, 2012? I ran this year with my brother and sister and it was the most fun we've ever had in a race.
We would love to run next year and include other family. I would love to be able to confirm the dates so everyone can begin planning.

I got one on the first day. There were a bunch of the bumper sticker ones when I went and only a few magnets.

Had a great time even though I felt like puking most of the race Finished in 2:55 personal worst, was a little disappointed, but hey I finished and got a beautiful medal so it was still well worth it! I was blown away by all the princesses and how amazing everyone looked in their outfits. Can't wait till Wine and Dine!
