Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Sounds like there are ~2600 runners in each of corrals A, B and C. I am bib #52xx and I'm in corral C. I put my est. finish time as 2:30 (used my W&D 2:33 time as proof.)

Did you get confirmation you are in C? Or are you guesstimating?

The white Donald shirts are nice, I'm happy to hear these will be white.

A bib in the 5000s should be Corral B. There are close to 3000 per corral and it goes up to Corral F this year. I was in the 2000s last year, too, and was in Corral A and it was a smaller field.

Oh, and my 2010 medal has diamond-like jewels in. Definitely clear, not Cinderella blue. They may have run two lots, though, so there could be some differences. :goodvibes

OMG, I just found out that my BF and family have been plotting behind my back to surprise me the day before the race...unfortunately logistics have forced them to spill the beans to me, but it's ok...my grandfather's flying in from Mexico on saturday to see me run and staying through tuesday with all of us!!!! I'm still gonna act surprised though so he will still think it was a total shocker for me, but I'm so excited and I can't even belive it!!!!! And it's a good thing they told me because I found a few kinks in their plan that really would have thrown things off. ;)

this is slightly off topic but i need to whine a little. i was really hoping that this running thing would help me lose a little weight. i know it's all my fault and i need to stop eating everything in sight. exercise alone isn't going to help if i eat more calories than i burn. still, waah! i keep cheating at my diet and then get all upset when i wake up in the morning and my weight is up! i weigh 143 now. a few WEEKS ago i was down to 137.5 and was so close to my goal of 135.

i wanted to be 140 for the race. i was there and i totally sabotaged myself. why can't i just say no to the junk???

I would worry about gaining a little bit of weight right now, especially if this is your first half marathon, and you've been increasing your miles quite a bit over the past few weeks. For my first half, I stopped losing weight and gained a little, a couple of weeks after the race, I lost all of the weight and then some. As far as I can tell, my body was holding extra water as a result of the long runs. Once the race was over and my mileage dropped my body decided I didn't need the water and the weight came off.

Good Luck.

Hey you! Take a good look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself what a rock-star you are!! I am 153 and hoping, hoping, hoping to be in the 140's before I got on that plane. But here I sit at 153 with 7 days to go. Remember that your body is strong and powerful and housed a human being inside it. Watch the biggest loser and realize that you are someone else's "After" sooo many people dream about being in their 140's and you're there! And you're not some mall-walking trophy girl either, you're a marathon runner!!!

Hmmm, for the medal ribbon I was thinking they would continue going down the rainbow. First year was purple (violet), then blue, next would be green, then yellow, orange, then red.

I'd be okay with pink, but I'm secretly hoping for green :thumbsup2

Oh, and my mother bought me a running belt for valentines day! I'm planning to run in it Thursday .

WOW! What motivation!!! Reading this totally made my day!:cloud9: Thank you so much for lifting others up! You rock!!

I'm in your corral! Hi! My bib # is 2500something and we will be in Corral A! Yippee! Our corral start is at 5:45am, so definitely make sure you are there on time. :thumbsup2 I'm running with Team Goddess (an group of WISHers here on the boards) and we'll be in bright royal blue shirts that say Team Goddess. If you are really stressing and want someone to hang with in the corral, you are welcome to hang out with me. Just PM and I will give you my cell number so you can text me at the start and we find a place to meet up. You are going to LOVE this race! :cool1:

That totally rocks!! I'll keep a look out for you all and introduce myself! Looking forward to seeing everyone!:goodvibes

My jewel was clear or white I guess you could say - like a diamond not Cinderella Blue. :confused3

They all still look clear to me in this picture:

I think this year will be an Emerald. But that is just my guess.

My bad! I was writing my post from memory. I have both medals in front of me now. The first was a purple heart the second was a white diamond.

Or pink! with pink crystals! princess:

Pink, but, hmmm.... what shape since they already did hearts?

Interesting thought. I'm not particularly fond of the rainbow idea, but if they made it a rich emerald green then maybe I'd be okay with it. The only princess that I associate green with is Tiana, but I guess Ariel is a turquoise and sometimes shown to have green fins right?

Tangled is coming out in March, so perhaps they'll play into the purple in Rapunzel's dress (though they did purple, but pink work) or the yellow in her hair? Hmmm....

That would be awesome. I'm running as Rapunzel so to have a medal that matched would rock! lol :cool1:

I went and ran my last long run today that I postponed on Saturday. I did just over 12 miles. It was terrible! My foot hurt from mile 1. I've never had a rubbing issue with my shoe around the side of my ankle but for some reason it just kept pushing hard against it. It hurt soooooooooo much! I don't know what I'm going to do but my next short run is Friday so I'll see then if the problem is recurring. It's too late in the game to buy new shoes and this is the first time it's happened so I don't know what caused it.

I iced my knees tilll my packs were slush, so hopefully I'm not in too much pain tomorrow. Everything was stiff but the bruise-like pain in the ankle won the award for stand out pain. I just don't know what to do. :headache:

Thanks for asking! The back of my left knee is pretty sore. Icing it as I write. But I know I can do this!

Wierd, me too. I alternated heat and ice today and rested. That meant missing my zumba class, but I figured it was better the risking serious injury this close to the big day!

Congrats on the last long run!
I have had the same problem with my shoes. I loosen the laces a little bit on top and have an arch support in my shoe. It lifts my foot slightly, and keeps the ankle away from the shoe. But then, I can't run super fast or my shoe will come off. I can't win.
Next run, I think I will try bandaids by my ankle, thicker wick away socks and tie the laces normally.

I battle with the same problem. Don't give up. The BEST advice I ever got was..."Don't have the junk in the house." I slip and snack, but oh well. I keep trying.

After I ran a half marathon, I lost some weight too. Remember, all of this training will make you gain weight in extra leg muscle. I did lose weight in my stomach with all of this running, so that's good.

Remember that your body is a machine of sorts and you have to put the right fuel in it. Love yourself enough to care what you put into your body.

Your body is a temple, take care of it and it will take care of you.

Good Luck Princess!princess:

I skipped my regularly scheduled run last night, but went to my zumba class. I ran there (at a friend's house 2 blocks away), and everything felt good. My son has a cub scout ice skating outing tomorrow, so I will run on the track they have there while he skates. Strangely looking forward to it.:confused3

Be careful about losing alot of weight before a race as you could lose some muscle mass too. I pigged out last night, but am getting right back to eating right, but trying not to worry about weight loss. Just eat well for your body -healthily!

I'm Bib 5810, so guessing I'm in corral B. It won't matter though. I'm only racing against myself and trying to convince myself that time doesn't matter in this race as I might want to take photos, etc.

Good luck ladies!!! You're all great!!! princess:

For everybody with problems from their shoes rubbing... Go to drugstore and buy some moleskin. Stays on better than a bandaid and is a little thicker too. I have been using it for years. Just make sure to buy the thin not the thick stuff.

11 days and counting!!!
