Sadly, for a full heal it does take alot longer. Here is my timeline:
End of Aug/Sept - the pain in my left shin was horrible, to run I could have just ripped my leg off. Keep in mind I had spine surgery and have a plate + 6 screws and two peices of cadaver bone and the pain was minimal.
From the second wk of Sept to Oct 2 - I did nothing!! and my shin was sore.
Oct 3 - I decided to wear my compression sleeves and run the Diva Half, as I already paid and friends from Boston were meeting me and of course my BFF too

Took 800 of motrin and ran the first 7 miles and then I walked/ran the rest in pain.
Oct 3 - I drank so much water during the half to help with the cramps in my leg I prayed for the cops to pull me over because I wanted to just go to the hospital.
Oct 15th - husband finally convienced me to get xrays - I knew it was gonna be a stress fracture so I was in NO rush! So YES it was confirmed I had a stress facture bad enough to see in the x-rays
Nov 10th - still not any better after NO RUNNING since 10/3 and before that the end of Aug/early Sept. Had x-rays again, and the fracture was not healing that well and I could DO NOTHING!!! Was advised if no healing took place in a month - a bone stimulator was going to be needed if not surgery cause my body was not laying down bone to heal properly.
Dec 3rd - went back to the dr and had more x-rays! FINALLY, my shin has healed enough to start slowly back to running. I have to start out slow at realize a PR for the Princess is not gonna happen.
**Was told to increase calcium and to add a protein shake with milk daily for muscle strength** Also have PT for 4 weeks to work on mechanics
