Hello! I haven't posted in quite a while. I have been busy with kids and just life! Anyways, about 3 weeks ago I started having knee pain. It's a sharp pain just under my knee cap. It came out of nowhere when I was in my Saturday long run (12 miles). I've never had any kind of knee pain before. I bought a Patellar Tendon Strap hoping that would help but it hasn't . I'm a little nervous that the pain isn't going to go away and that I won't be Abel to do the princess half. Has anyone else had this pain? If so, what did you do for it? One personal the running store told me to run through the pain but I don't think that's a good idea!! Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

I am staying at the Swan as well :) We were there in May and really enjoyed it. I am with you in hoping that they will open up an epcot resort. If not, it's cab for me as well. We could probably just split a cab huh? Even though I am going with DH and DD, I don't think they will be watching me run the race. It's too early for them, esp DD4, and I would rather that they sleep in than be grumpy all day

Good to know about the lines for the characters. The Disney site recommeded maintaining at least a 15 minute per mile pace to ensure photo and restroom time. Would you all think that's about right?

Wow, I am trying to convince my DH and DD 4 to come with me to be at finish....but may just be me. Keep me in mind about cab splitting!

Plane reservations made, staying at Port Orleans Riverside now (got bigger discount there) and completed 10m 3weeks in a row...Whats 3 more? Need me some Magic and Pixidust! WHOOHOO! Coming in alone on Thurs if anyone else is and needs dinner buddy?????:goodvibes

What is everyones take on how many miles on shoes? The knee and foot injury got me thinkin bout that?

I will be running a 5 mile Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day. Anyone going to join me? What better way to start Thanksgiving Day.:)

For some reason its in my mind for 350 miles to start checking your shoes. We joked in my boot camp, when you even think it MIGHT be time, probably is. If you are having issues, not a bad idea to think about a new pair...but what do I know.... :goodvibes I think the guy at the running store told me the 350 rule

This is the first year that my town is doing a Turkey Trot 5K. I'm very excited to do it with my son and daughter!

The standard I have used for the last few years is 350-400 miles (usually 3-5 months) in your shoes. The more cushion in the shoe, the quicker it wears out. Replace these at the low end of the scale. Stability and motion-controlled shoes usually last longer, they would be at the high end of the scale.

I'll be running a 10K that morning! Good thing my husband does all the cooking!

I was having major pain under my left knee cap, I went for acupuntor and it has not come back I have gone as far as 9.3 run/walk and I even ran every step of 5 miles yesterday and it was tight but not painful.

Great! My future DIL keeps trying to do the C25K, hoping to run with me, but I don't think she's going to be ready. She told me this morning she hasn't ran since Tuesday and she was on week 3 I believe.

Great! I still need to figure out the whole cooking thing. DH was planning to come with me. The race is at 8:30 to give people time to get home at a reasonable time.

I have a good friend who does acupuncture and that didn't even cross my mind. Thanks so much! I will have to pay yer a visit!! She has done wonders for my lower back! :)

Hope every one is having an awesome weekend, and training is going well. I had an interesting week. Two good runs and two awful runs. I took yesteray off to have fresh legs for this morning's 5 mile race... AND, it was a good thing.

I finished in 44:59, which is 10 minutes and 51 seconds faster than my previous 5 mile PR. And, with a basically 9 minute pace, am doing better in my training than I expected to.

there is a 10k I think I will sign up for! I ran my first ever 1/2 10 years ago on Thanksgiving its a great way to start the day.

Ran 3 miles today as a part of the galloway plan, happily my 2/1 interval pace was 30 sec per mile faster than the 5K I ran in July! Felt great. 5 miles next week and I am going to be ready.

Did an unofficial test of Galloway today for 5k, & was a few minutes slower than a straight run, but I'm thinking it's really too short of a distance to tell for sure.

Gettin nervous about registration! I know I need to do it soon before the race fills, but I just have to find out what's going on with the knees first! Sports doc appt. this Thursday & I'm hopeful!

Ok, within 5 minutes the panic got the better of me (not to mention excitement) and I went ahead & registered! :cool1:

Now on the stick mentally & physically! (& time to start saving some $$$ for the expo;)

Gee honey, I have no idea why there's a $130+ charge to Active. I'll have to check that out!:rolleyes1

I highly recommend Trigger Point Therapy. www.tptherapy.com
This kit has changed my life. Literally!! I suffer from tons on IT band issues and hip tightness and pain. This kit has helped me more than anything I've tried!!
