I actually went on Wednesday and stayed until Tuesday. I'll probably just do Friday to Monday next year.

I am planning Friday(getting in early) to Tuesday. We are making it a mini girls vacation. My mom, aunt, and I. My aunt has never been to WDW so now my relaxing trip at disney is turning into pack it all in dont miss a thing while running a half marathon for the first time in my life. For anyone who knows me understands that this is my life and nothing is ever simple or relaxing.:lmao: I cant imagine spending the money to go to disney without making a vacation out of it.

do most people come a few days before the race to see Disney or stay a few days after the race?

I usually arrive on Firday. I know that if I arrive too early before the race, I will wear myself before the race gets there. Princess is a Friday to Monday fro me. For marathon, though, it's Friday to Friday. Walking around after teh race helps you recover much faster too.

I definitely agree with this--I noticed that after the race this year, the longer I sat, the tighter and more sore my muscles were. But when I got up and moved around, they loosened up and felt much better!

DD and I want to do the Princess 1/2 this year. Can anyone tell me where I can find all the info. On the registration site I couldn't find what I was looking for.
I am wondering things like

Which are the host hotels?
What time does it start?
How long can you take to finish and still get a medal?
etc.

Thanks!

They have some of the information but will not have the specifics about 2011 for another week. You must meet a 16 min. per mile threshold - that is their requirement so as long as you complete each mile at or above that, you are fine. Anyone going under that threshold can be disqualified and not receive a medal.

The host hotels should be the same as last year, but just keep checking the site for the specifics.

The starting time depends on the corral but you pretty much have to be there by 5 a.m. and they start things by 6 a.m. I think most of us were there by 4:30 a.m. - yes, 4:30 a.m. :scared1:

One week to go! Looking forward to finally getting some information! I'm really hoping to do the Princess in 2011, even though them changing the date threw a bit of a wrench into my plans!

And, I just noticed that on the first page you don't have my IRL name - I'm Jennie :)

It may be a longer wait than just a week.... I'm running the Wine & Dine in October, and there's still very little information about that.

Hi everyone! Sorry, but life (aka work) has been keeping me busy. I will get around to updating the list!

Hey everyone! My name is Melissa and I am Jjining in on the fun and going to to run the Princess with my girlfriends. I completed my first 5k in May and have a lot to do in terms of training. I am super excited to do this as I am making this 35th year of my life MY year- living strong and accomplishing my goals. Glad to be a part of the group. :)

I see that is your first post; welcome to the boards!

I was just sent a code for the Princess Half - It isn't a private code, so I assume I can share it....

It will save you 10% on registration for the race.

It is...

FIREWORKS

and it expires July 14th.

Happy Running (or walking!)

AWESOME:cool1: Thank you so much for sharing this! Just a few more days to register.

Quick question - this is my first organized running event (yikes!), and if I remember correctly from past races you have to put in your estimated time. Do I just request the last stall? Thanks for any help!

If this is your first race, you'll automatically be placed in the last corral.

Thank you sooo much for sharing the code. It all helps!!
I am so excited about doing this for myself and with some special people in my life. I started excercising a month ago in preparation and now can do 5 miles of intervals!! Woohoo! It is a great feeling and I love how my daughter asks me how my run was when I get home. :cloud9:

I am super excited to sign up for the 2011 Disney Princess Martahon on Tuesday! This will be my very first marathon or race ever. I have no running background at all, but am starting to train for it. will most likely walk/run the race.

Unfortunately my beautiful mom lost her battle to breast cancer on June 15th, and I want to particpate in this marathon in her honor. I also plan on raising money to donate to support breast cancer research.

I hope I will be able to complete the race, as it seems to have enough things to keep my attention going with all the characters and disney theme of course.

Out of curosity how much time do we have in order to complete the half marathon?

For those who have done the princess half marathon before... How much more convenient is it to stay at a host hotel? We (DH, DD4, and I) are planning on going, and I was toying around with the idea of staying off property- that way we could possibly stay a little longer at WDW for the same budget. We would be renting a car, but I was wondering about the logistics, esp going with a 4 year old. If we stay at a host hotel, will there be transportation throughout the morning, so DD doesn't have to wake up at 4 am and then be a grump head all day? :)

Staying at at one of the host resorts is nice, but the only down side is that you have to be on the bus pretty early. I'm actually looking at the Final Race Instructions from this year, and it says that buses began departing at 3 a.m., and everyone had to board by 5:30. They also asked that everyone be in their corral by 5:30, but I know that wasn't the case this year. If I remember right, there were a few people that I talked to who drove themselves over, and they had no trouble at all. I think Disney likes to encourage everyone to take the bus so that there isn't as much traffic, but I think you'd be fine either way. Not to mention, that depending on how cold it is, you could always hang out in your car until the last minute-whereas when taking the bus, you get off then have to hang out outside or either head to your corral. So your car may provide a few more minutes of warmth!

If this is your first race, you'll automatically be placed in the last corral.

I think there were so many "newbies" this year that there wasn't room for everyone in the last corral. This was my first, and I ended up in "D", which was the next to last. I'm wondering if they'll add any additional corrals for next year!
