i'm so sad i'm not running this race this year. it's my favorite race disney puts on. for all those first-timers, have such a blast - it's an unforgettable experience!

Does anyone have arm sleeves that they run in? I'm finding that my arms are freezing while I'm running, but not my torso; Tuesday I had two long sleeve shirts on and my torso was warm, but not my arms. Do the arm sleeves stay up ok?

I have 2 sets. Both from Moeben. They stay up great and do a terrific job keeping my arms warm. I wear them on top of long sleeve shirts for just that extra bit of warmth when I run. They even have pockets, to hold your Gu or a key!

My 10k time was 1:11. When I e-mailed Disney, I told them my finish time and provided a link to the results page. I did not put a new predicted finish time for the princess in my e-mail...I wasn't sure my time was good enough for a sub 2:45. When I got my confirmation e-mail, the Disney rep sent me a link to active.com where my previous predicted finish time (3:00) and my new predicted finish time that Disney came up with (2:20) were.

I'm totally in a slump too, but mine has nothing to do with an injury. It's finals week here, so running is on the back burner right now. Plus, I've realized how much I really hate the cold, and it's not gotten below the teens here. I'm a total wuss about the cold lol. I'll be jumping back on the bandwagon next week though (when finals are over) so I'm going to just have to buck up and get over it....and get a vest or something. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Just checked Princess now at 75%, it is filling a little faster now, it was just at 70 not long ago,

Kim

I haven't gotten any sort of confirmation back yet...I wonder if I should be worried about that? Did it take them a while to confirm back with you?

Great time! I submitted my 1:11 10k and they put my new half time at 2:20. A little too optimistic for me lol.

I did a 2:20 once. It was mostly all a flat gravel trail, I came upon one town and had to jump a couple of curbs and go up one little hill. My husband was riding his bike beside me and I was trying to impress him with my speed. Lol He also carried my gel packs and water and a banana. I felt light as a feather.

You might be able to do that too! If you don't stop and look around. Lol How could you not!

Anyway, congratulations!! :)

I ran my 4 miles on the treadmill today instead of yesterday. Yesterday, I had to clean the house and put up the tree and go to a swim meet! Whew! I plan on a 7 or 8 mile run on Sunday.

Does anyone take a nap after running??? I usually pass out about an hour or two after running, every time!

I am keeping on track with my diet also. My son wants me to make his Xmas favorite, sugar cookies. I love them too!

My husband is trying to stop drinking his daily coca-cola. It has been one month! I hope he beats that addiction!! I think he's home free, but I don't know for sure.

I didn't get a confirmation on the Princess half yet either.

Reading up on fractures! Found a good website that was very interesting. Had info on how to prevent and what to eat etc.

I have after long runs; but I always wake up really sore so I try to find something else to do instead. Today I have a work meeting after my run.

I've been reading trip reports to get excited (not that I need help) and to get ideas of things to do on my short trip. The girl I work with now thinks I'm obssesed with Disney....

I'll confess to being a lurker here for many months.

I have a tendency to be pretty shy and uncertain what to post, and have considered joining the boards many different times, but wasn't sure I'd have anything to contribute since we aren't DVC members.

But, I gotta say a huge thanks, we are taking the kids to Magic Kingdom for the very first time tomorrow (boy 8, girl 6, boy 5).

AND, I've been training for 2 months for the Princess Half and totally following this thread, so I feel like I "know" all of you, in a kindof creepy "I know you but you don't know me" way, so I figure I better come out and say hello! princess:

I'm looking forward to joining more discussions about the half. I'm a first-time runner!

The girls at my office think the same. I say not obssesed but excited.

Welcome, I am a first time runner also!!

I'm a first time runner, too, and am running with my friend, mikamah, from the other side of the WISH boards. princess: It's fun to come here and talk with so many runners of all experience levels.

Is there any talk of a WISH meet?

Also, our chatting is getting to the point where we are approaching the magic page number (250) where the mods will close the thread. We are a chatty group! ;)

Oh, and if any of you princesses as a past, present or future alumni of the Biggest Loser Challenges on the other side of the WISH boards, I invite you to join us for the Biggest Loser Alumni Holiday Edition thread here http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39183647&postcount=1

This is an informal challenge and a place to get support in over the holidays. Think of this as our BL virtual holiday open house party. :santa: I'm hoping to see as many BL folks as we can find at least stop by and say "hello" so if you know of a previous (or future) participant send them a PM and encourage them to stop by once the thread gets going!

If it wasn't for the BL folks I would not be doing the Princess! princess:

Hi Everyone,

I am going to the half as a cheerleader for a long time friend, who is not on these boards. I'm wondering if there are any other spectators on this list who might want to meet up and cheer together? Also, does anyone have an opinion on the ChEAR Squad Disney provides?

Thanks!
Mary

Hello All. I've been lurking and trying to read thought this awesome thread and decided to finally post. I'm 30 years old and have been running for years. I registered for the Princess in September- the whole trip is paid for and flight is booked. But I'm starting to freak out!:scared1: I ran in a 10K race on Thanksgiving day and finished with a PR time of 50:31! The bad news- I jacked up my right foot. My heel feels like a big bruise. I wasn't able to run at all for 3 weeks. It was feeling a little better and I ran a 5K race yesterday with my daughter. Heel pain is back. I've never had this problem before. Prior to the Thanksgiving race I was running ~30 miles a week with one long run of 12-13miles each week. What do I do if I can't train for this? Has anyone ever had this problem?

Well, it is official. I am in "real" training mode as of today! On June 6 (or close to that day) I decided to become a runner and get my body ready to run the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon. Day 1 = .5 mile and I thought I was going to die. Over the next 6 months I kept up the running and my longest run to date is 6.2 miles (10K - yes!) which I ran in 79.35 minutes. I now meet with a personal trainer once a week for strength conditioning and he gave me my official training plan on Saturday. I know it is now time to kick it in gear but the nice thing about it is I am ready to kick it in gear! I am nervous as all get out that I am going to be able to find enough time to get in ALL the weekly miles in but I will figure it out. So here is to 12-12-10 - my official get ready for the race day!

The extra bonus of this whole running thing - I have lost 16 pounds (still have 20 more to go) and my 12-year old daughter has joined my conditioning session and runs with me (sometimes).

Hi Welcome! I am sorry you "jacked" up your foot. Older posts of other people, had the same problem. They went to a sports medicine doctor. SMD's know how to treat problems and get you back to running faster than regular doctors(who don't exercise at all). Good luck. I am 45, just started the serious running this past year. I feel I am on the brink of an injury too. Lol No doubt, that constant pounding has a price.

My mother never ran, she's 86 now, and she has so many aches and pains anyway. So, I figure I will have some fun with my life and do this Princess half marathon at Disney World!:woohoo:

Congratulations on getting fit!!!! Your daughter must be so proud of you! You're setting a great example. I think you are going along just fine! The gym workout is a great bonus!! Doing sit-ups will help your back. So many complain of back pain. But, if you do your sit-ups and keep proper posture, you shouldn't have a problem. I do other back exercises also and push ups as well as the machines.

Yesterday, I ran 8 miles. in 103 minutes. So that was about 13 minute miles. I had aches and pains everywhere. I felt like quitting at mile 6, but my son and husband told me to "Keep going!" That really helped. When I knew I only had one mile to go, I was happy and ran faster!

It was weird, like I had a little goblin running around inside my body. First, my hip hurt, so I walked, it went away, so I started jogging again.

Then, my toe, then knee, shoulder, three knuckles on my hand!!! What the heck! I figured out that every spot was the exact spot of an old injury. It was arthritis nagging at me.
So, I chalk it up to just being a bad running day. I feel 100% today. I think the big snow storm had something to do with it.

Hi Welcome!!!! The more the merrier! I am glad you joined on. I would love to hear about your runs and how they are going!! It helps me feel connected to someone who is going through the same thing as me.

My family doesn't really realize how hard it is to run so far every Sunday.

I am so excited to be able to experience a race Disney World puts on!! I can't wait! Fireworks at the beginning! Wow!

Now, I see they put on other races too! I wished I lived close to Disney World. I would probably do all of them!
