i'm so sad i'm not running this race this year. it's my favorite race disney puts on. for all those first-timers, have such a blast - it's an unforgettable experience!
Does anyone have arm sleeves that they run in? I'm finding that my arms are freezing while I'm running, but not my torso; Tuesday I had two long sleeve shirts on and my torso was warm, but not my arms. Do the arm sleeves stay up ok?
Gotta be registered by 12/31 to get your name on the bib..guess pricesses want that![]()
My 10k time was 1:11. When I e-mailed Disney, I told them my finish time and provided a link to the results page. I did not put a new predicted finish time for the princess in my e-mail...I wasn't sure my time was good enough for a sub 2:45. When I got my confirmation e-mail, the Disney rep sent me a link to active.com where my previous predicted finish time (3:00) and my new predicted finish time that Disney came up with (2:20) were.
I haven't gotten any sort of confirmation back yet...I wonder if I should be worried about that? Did it take them a while to confirm back with you?
Great time! I submitted my 1:11 10k and they put my new half time at 2:20. A little too optimistic for me lol.
Thank you both very much!!! Having someone to run with would make me feel a ton better! Just let me know the details!! Thanks again!
Does anyone take a nap after running??? I usually pass out about an hour or two after running, every time!
I have after long runs; but I always wake up really sore so I try to find something else to do instead. Today I have a work meeting after my run.
I've been reading trip reports to get excited (not that I need help) and to get ideas of things to do on my short trip. The girl I work with now thinks I'm obssesed with Disney....
I'll confess to being a lurker here for many months.
I have a tendency to be pretty shy and uncertain what to post, and have considered joining the boards many different times, but wasn't sure I'd have anything to contribute since we aren't DVC members.
But, I gotta say a huge thanks, we are taking the kids to Magic Kingdom for the very first time tomorrow (boy 8, girl 6, boy 5).
AND, I've been training for 2 months for the Princess Half and totally following this thread, so I feel like I "know" all of you, in a kindof creepy "I know you but you don't know me" way, so I figure I better come out and say hello!
I'm looking forward to joining more discussions about the half. I'm a first-time runner!
Hello All. I've been lurking and trying to read thought this awesome thread and decided to finally post. I'm 30 years old and have been running for years. I registered for the Princess in September- the whole trip is paid for and flight is booked. But I'm starting to freak out!I ran in a 10K race on Thanksgiving day and finished with a PR time of 50:31! The bad news- I jacked up my right foot. My heel feels like a big bruise. I wasn't able to run at all for 3 weeks. It was feeling a little better and I ran a 5K race yesterday with my daughter. Heel pain is back. I've never had this problem before. Prior to the Thanksgiving race I was running ~30 miles a week with one long run of 12-13miles each week. What do I do if I can't train for this? Has anyone ever had this problem?
Well, it is official. I am in "real" training mode as of today! On June 6 (or close to that day) I decided to become a runner and get my body ready to run the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon. Day 1 = .5 mile and I thought I was going to die. Over the next 6 months I kept up the running and my longest run to date is 6.2 miles (10K - yes!) which I ran in 79.35 minutes. I now meet with a personal trainer once a week for strength conditioning and he gave me my official training plan on Saturday. I know it is now time to kick it in gear but the nice thing about it is I am ready to kick it in gear! I am nervous as all get out that I am going to be able to find enough time to get in ALL the weekly miles in but I will figure it out. So here is to 12-12-10 - my official get ready for the race day!
The extra bonus of this whole running thing - I have lost 16 pounds (still have 20 more to go) and my 12-year old daughter has joined my conditioning session and runs with me (sometimes).
