So this question may have already been answered, but 238 pages is a lot to go through ;)

So it says you can register as a "Team." What does that mean...each person runs half of the race? You tag in the middle? You run together? :confused3 Maybe I am over-thinking it!

From what I've read/heard the only difference in registering as a team vs. an individual is that you get an extra bib with your team name on it...I guess as a keepsake. You should still each get your own bib as well...and I don't think there are any rules that state you must run the race together if yuou register as a team...but I'm sure it would be fun if you did!

I hear ya Summer. I am in Austin. Holy cow... my head is going to explode with the sinus pressure I get from the changes in the weather! It was warm, but uber windy here, so I chose treadmill for my run today. I tell ya- I am such a fair weather "athlete"... if it's too cold, I complain. Too windy, I complain. Too hot... I complain, but not as much. LOL I prefer the warm over anything else, yes, even to RUN in! Praying for the warmest Feb 27 on record for Orlando yall. I would love to start the run in the low 50s, end in the low 60s. then have the day warm up to low 70s for spending it in the parks. Would be perfecto to me!

SO windy here last night too! I had to do 5 miles and the park I run at during the week after work has a very dusty jogging loop...so today I'm feeling all the dust I must have inhaled last night. But the wind is bringing change and it's going to get cold once again and keep with the pattern :) So far I've been lucky enough to not have to do any training runs on a treadmill...the summer months were brutal, but it gives me something to think back to now when I'm having a particularly tough run...if I could do 4 or 5 miles when it was 100+, then I can get through 7 or 8 or whatever in the glorious cold weather!!!

Oh and on a side note, I had posted last week about being worried about not receiving a confirmation back when I sent in a 10K proof of time to change my expected finish time...I finally did get the confirmation...WOO PEE!!! They changed my expected time to 2:15....I don't know in what universe that would be possible for me!!! hahahahaha! That will hopefully get me in a little bit of a better corral...and further away from the sweepers, which was really my main goal in getting a 10k under my belt. :woohoo:

Good Morning! I saw these quotes and thought they were funny. The last one is inspiring. Christmas shopping today, maybe I'll run the 3 miles at the mall! :)

Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise',
I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

I joined a health club last year,
spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there.

We all get heavier as we get older,
because there's a lot more information in our heads.

The advantage of exercising every day
is so when you die, they'll say,
"Well, she looks good doesn't she."

Every time I start thinking too much
about how I look,
I just find a Happy Hour
and by the time I leave,
I look just fine.

I have to walk early in the morning,
before my brain figures out what I'm doing..

...To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift. ~Steve Prefontaine~

Have a wonderful day! :)

I got my response back as well... so did my friend who turned in a run listed under my husband's name. (She ran in his place- so the time shows in his name) She linked the result with a picture of her in the correct bib number crossing the finish line- and they accepted it. lol

Anyway- hoping it also pushes me ahead of the sweepers a bit as well!

My 10K had TONS of hills. I am wondering if they compare the elevation when coming up with an expected time? Because the time they gave me is WAY better than I expected as well.

For the team run...both run/walk the race. You don't have to be together. They combine your times and and awards are awarded according to combined time of both runners..you have to finish to get a time. I choose not to spend the extra money for a bib...you get one for the race anyway.

That's really cool that they acepted your friends time with a picture! I never would have thought they would do that, but nice to know they are so flexible with situations like that...I ran the 5K at Disneyland this year as "Jake" :) Of course, that was just a fun run and wasn't chip timed or anything, but it's a fun story to tell when friends and family see my pictures and say "Who's Jake?"

I was surprised too- but they seemed to be ok with it. Maybe because she wasn't claiming to finish in 1:20 or anything. LOL

I have been lurking on this thread for awhile. I guess I can join now. :flower3:
My Sister & I just officially registered this morning. Kind of wondering what I just got myself into, but it should be a fun ride!!! :thumbsup2

When I registered it cost the same as individuals...

Nice to meet you!! Always glad to meet someone new, and hope you can help keep us motivated for the big day. :)

Sorry your trip did not go well. We took DD when she was 18 months and it went great. (But I was not by myself with her)

ah, see there is where the difference lies! you weren't alone. m y husband and i took him when he was 16 months old and it was a BREEZE! but alone? it's just a bad idea! we are going back at the end of january and i can't wait because i'll have hubby with me this time!

*****************

i got back to running today. my friend watched DS for me so i could run. it was FREEZING! i ran 4 miles at a 10:20something pace. i'm happy with that pace but that definitely will not be my half marathon pace. i usually get slower and slower as the miles increase. my goal would be to finish is 2 and a half hours. will it happen? who knows but i'm sure going to try!

did anyone watch the biggest loser where they ran the marathon? the girl ada ran it at an incredible pace, especially for someone who was obese just months earlier! i think she had like a 10:15 pace or something! wow!!!

I am kind of surprised that they have teams in the Princess race. They are really fun to have but generally if you are a group of close friends with a small competitive streak. Also, most races that have a team event will have 5 runners (you can usually have more on your team) and only the four fastest time count. that actually seems a lot funner than pairing off.

We run a couple team events a year at work. We try to mix the teams up from year to year to create an atmosphere where we can meet and support folks we may not see on a daily basis.

I did! I love that show. They were so encouraging to the runners. Did you see that they had cold towels around their necks to keep them cool.

I like how they let their family members run with them.

It was so motivating watching them run. I wanted to jump off the couch and go running with them! lol

My son sneezed on me. Now I have his stuffy, runny, headache cold. I haven't had a cold in two years!! Should I run anyway??

STILL waiting to hear back on my 10k. I emailed on Nov 26th, wondering if I need to send another or just wait.

I emailed them my 10K time last Friday (10th) and received the email back on Monday (13th). Seems like maybe they didn't get yours?

I heard back in a little less than a week...I'd definitely give someone a call to make sure they received your info...or make sure they get it this time from you.

Does anyone use the IPOD Sport Kit from Nike? If so, what I want to know is if you can preprogram it to tell you when to run and walk. I am using the Galloway method and running a minute and walking a minute. So does anyone know if it will do what I want.

I am not an expert on this but I think you need to mix the intervals into your music mix. I think there is an ap for that.

Look at this thread as a start

I was afraid of that. Thank you

I wanted it for a Nano, which I did not think you could put apps on. I am currently using the IPod touch and an App, but its a tad large and was thinking of downsizing.

Thanks eveyrone...I did get my 10k results in and now my anticipated finish time is 2:20! That is faster than my best time from 10 years ago. :cool1: Of course I know I will want to stop for at least one or 2 pics...and not in it to win it or have best time!

Question: My husband is still on the fence about coming with me and bringing our little girl. How crowded do you think the parks will be? I have only been once time to Disneyworld and wondering if it will be light. I would love to have the family cheer me on at the finish!
