 you're assuming someone will come in after me! ha! :)

i hope i find people like coach running near me! and even if there are people talking to me that annoy me, that'll give me another push to get away from them! hahahah

It all started when I ran with a club and we HAD to have one joke to tell while on the run. Served two purposes... Keeps you conversational and forces you to stay out of the funk we all get into.

I will be coming in behind you for sure.
So please cheer me on!!!

We still have to decide if we are going to set up an ADR for Friday Night????

I did a race a few weeks ago where one woman (who was awesome) stayed on the course after she finished and encouraged runners who were having a hard time finishing. She ran the last few blocks with them. I think she must have crossed the finish line with about 60 people.

awesome! i hope she is at the central park race on the 12th! i'll need someone to get me to the end of my 5k!

no way! you're in a great location! unfortunately i'm way too slow to be able to keep up with you! but i'll cheer you on as you pass by me! lol!!!

I meant I would run WITH you, not race against you, LOL. I can run at whatever speed you want, so you have someone cheering the whole race.

My brother has run just one race with me and I didn't want to hold him back so I told him to run his race and we'd meet at the finish line. Well he finished a good ten minutes ahead of me then turned around to run me in. It was one of the best feelings.

Jo- Believe me I will be there cheering you on. I know it's your first and I'm really excited about seeing you accomplish this. I'll be there at there at the end looking like this. :cheer2: or um maybe more like this :faint:

That is so sweet! Very Princess Like! princess:

i was just thinking the same thing! that would be great!!!

and i bet running is a little like when i played soccer - the better the people were that i played with, the better i played!

Thanks Meg, I am gettting so excited.
Did you find out if you are going solo or not?

I just caught up on the thread. Everyone is doing great with training and races. You guys are great motivators. I'm hoping to run a 10K with my DSIL next weekend. I'm very nervous as I've only done three 5K's. I've done 6 miles in training twice so I should be ok. Wish me luck!

Here's my running related story of the week - In my enthusiasm to share my running successes, I got to talking about running with a few of the men in my Department at work. They run regularly after work. For two months they have been asking me to go with them. I think as some sort of comic relief. :rotfl2: I'm 47 and they are in their early 30s. I've been avoiding going for many reasons not the least of which is my concern that I'd be too slow or would not be able to make it. Also, lets just say I am NOT one of those people who look good in running clothes. In fact I like to stick with the motto the more clothing I wear the better I look.

Anyway I finally got to the point that I am relatively confident running 4-5 miles :cheer2: So I decided to go with the 'boys" on Tuesday. After changing we met at the designated spot and :scared1: my boss is there in little black 70's shorts and his white wife beater tee shirt. My boss is, lets just say, not the type you want to hang out with. In fact, he is quite intimidating. We rarely if ever exchange any personal information. I'm sure you all know the type. What a nightmare. Now I have to go and pray I just don't completely embarrass myself. The end result - I did awesome. It was the fastest 4.25 miles I've ever run - 41 minutes :cool1: I refused to let them get ahead of me. Of course, I thought I'd die. I'm pretty sure the boys were impressed. I felt great after. However, never again. I'll stick with my training runs with my DSIL. No stress.

This just in:

Runners who have experienced Disney’s marathon and half marathon events know how the whimsy and friendliness of the parks appeal to first-timers, but now there’s an added incentive to get up and go.

Jeff Galloway, one of the leading marathon trainers in the country, has just signed on as the official training consultant to the new “runDisney’’ series of endurance events. Galloway, who is renowned for helping runners complete their first marathons, will be offering his unique training tips and programs at all runDisney events as well as at rundisney.com and facebook.com/rundisney.

The “runDisney’’ series is the new name for the collection of Disney endurance events that now all live under the runDisney brand. The series includes the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by CIGNA, Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend presented by Lady Foot Locker, the inaugural Wine & Dine Half Marathon and, of course, the upcoming Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.

So, let’s get off the sofa, lace up those sneakers and get going. With Galloway’s help, you can take on any runDisney event and make it all the way to the finish line.

You gotta know that the male gene was pushing just as hard even though they would only fess up to wanting to hang around to make sure you were safe :scared1:
