It is kinda amazing that they have 5 women out there with jump ropes and don't whip each other in the head.

Field hockey now....

My friend just emailed me pictures of one of the Beijing gold medals. Her boss's wife won the gold in some biking event time trials. Very cool and that is jade on the back, thought it was.

I'd heard that for the Summer Games, the front of the medals almost always have an image of Nike, the winged Greek goddess of victory.

But the backs usually have something that designates the country that is hosting the Games. Thus, the jade inlay on the back.

Very pretty, in my opinion.

I like the darker jade on the backs of the bronze medals better than the light jade on the other two.

Anyone else think those Chinese awards hostess dresses are beautiful?? I DO!!

We were watching the ceremonies with our 17 year old DD, who said that she would LOVE to have one of the "Blue and White Porcelain" gowns used at the swimming ceremonies, or the "Sapphire Blue" gowns at the gymnastics awards for a prom dress.

Anyone know where we can get one?
P.S. DD is half-Chinese (I'm of Chinese descent), so I think she would look great in it!

The gold medal jade is whitish. The bronze medal has dark green jade.
