Offical free dining watch 2008

I sure hope free dining starts 8/23. I know in the last 2 years, they always gave you the last week in August. If it starts on 8/30, then it really is only for September. My kids go back to school on Sept 2nd, so we have to be back by then.

That's exactly my problem, too. I can start as late as August 26th and make it a quick trip, but we NEED To be able to leave Sept 1st at the latest. We were hoping for an August 24-30 trip to give us plenty of time. :scared:

Those dates dont do it for me......we are going home on the 30th....

I hope it starts earlier...I know we will be okay at Cypress Pointe in a 3 bedrooms unit but I Really DO love staying on-site :(

I just talked to my TA and she said the dates will probably be around the sames as last year give a day or two, but she said there will be a problem with locations. she wasn't specific but I am wondering if she means no value resorts!!:goodvibes

I really hope the pressure from Universal offering free dining from August 17 forces Disney to do the same. I will be there from August 16 to the 26th and can't change the dates because of my DS's school (don't want to miss the beginning of 1st grade.)

What happens if the offer the free dining to start during the middle of my vacation (already booked CSE and flights.) Will they allow me to partially receive the free dining?

Thanks, Tim

Could I get the free dining by booking with 1 day tickets and upgrade to ap's? Originally we were planning on a 10 day trip, but are now considering a 15 day trip.

AP holders here...we're hoping we can get free dining too. I know they changed things to allow us to participate in the dining program (without buying 1 day passes)...so here's hoping for MID-August.

I don't like those dates either! I hope it includes the last week of August!!!!!!! My kids start school Sept 2!

Does anyone know if you book thru AAA with the discount can AAA still get you the free dining and keep your discount. I know if you book thru disney you cannot have two discounts and was told by cm that even if I book thru AAA you have to pick one or the other but when I asked my TA she said you can get both. Any thoughts???

In the past the rule was that if you were booked during even one day of a special you would get it for your whole trip. I have heard that this might change for this year but I"m hoping not. I'd like to go for 7 nights, being home the latest Sept. 2

I sure hope the reason the dates haven't been announced yet are because they are still deciding. I think it is a horrible decision of Disney's, if they decide to do that, to have free dining start August 30. It will be for less than a month. We are in/heading towards a recession..you would think they want to get as much money as they can. But who knows..maybe they think enough people are going with the stimulus rebate? Or maybe there were so many speculative bookings, they think August is doing fine without free dining? I know they had bounceback (times 2) and the UK offer..but hmmm...

If I can't get FD at all, I am thinking about cancelling. Originally I was going to go no matter what..but if I miss a $600 discount because of FOUR days... I might put off Disney. It's important for me to be back for Sept 2nd first day of school, so going later is not an option.

We're arriving on the 13th, and leaving on the 19th, so I am hoping that the starting date is a bit earlier than the 30th.

All schools are so different! I wish it started in Sept. here but it starts around the last or second to last week of August. I think the city starts in sept. tho. Why cant it all be the same??

My DD goes back to school after Labor Day (state law) but that means that she doesn't get OUT until mid-June.

Thats probably what most people plan around is school because no one wants to miss the first day. So I hope free dining is offered early August (give everyone a chance, lol :))

My bounce back extends through October. I start in September. When I booked the POP was pretty full and NOT all dates were available.

Please reduce the size of these images and repost them - they are causing problems for other posters. Thank you!

As you can see, the bounce back dates match all the rumoured dates. These dates also match those that were given to the UK. I don't see them changing those dates. While bounce back isn't shown as available for the deluxe resorts, we will know when the codes are released.

I just checked with mine today, because he kept telling us we could get both, although I knew he was wrong. Sure enough, he called Disney and checked and you have to decide on one or the other. Some have reported getting both in 06, but I bet it was a mistake....

For those that wish that it would start earlier than the 30th... I'm sorry, but the key to the value season (the season in which dining is offered), is that its AFTER most schools go back in. That's the reason they offer it to entice people to come since the parks get thinned.

You can't expect too much more than that. I'm not saying it won't happen, but the most I've seen in the past is a week more than that.
