I haven't gotten the impression that LaToya is the R&B type. Fantasia definitely is but not LaToya.

I'm rooting for LaToya and also hoping that Jasmine quits hitting flat notes. She was SO good at first, I wonder if it's all getting to her? Diana was really good last night so I'll keep an eye on her too.

LaToya kinda reminds me of Toni Braxton. I don't think she'll be R&B..but very soulfull easy listening type music.

Who got Voted off tonight? I've been looking through the posts and I don't think anyone has said, either that or I'm blind! lol I missed it tonight, I was getting my hair cut and dyed, (5:40 - 9:00!) Did John get booted? Oh I hope so! I am so sick of him! He needs to go. He's too old skool and he's 16!

John did get booted. I guess that we were all reacting to the show and not really talking about what happened!

The bottom three were John, Jasmine and George. Then Jasmine got sent back first. They were all really crying while John sang his final song especially Jasmine.

Does anyone else besides me think that John would still be there if he would have sung as well last night as he did during his farewell performance? What a shame, he finally loosens up a little bit and really sings...but it's too late. You could definitely tell his relief was evident when he was singing. What a great young man -- I don't think we've seen the last of him!!!

Anyway, I was surprised as I really thought Jasmine would be the one leaving tonight (I think she thought so as well).

At this point in the competition, Diana's the one for me. She's blessed with a good strong voice and is really learning how to use it. The other thing I really like about her is the way she is so respectful to the judges. Even when they make negative comments about her performance, clothes, etc. she takes the time to listen without getting sassy and always thanks them.

I think LaToya is very talented as well but can't stop thinking of her as the "Ice Princess". Just can't seem to warm up to her (no pun intended!).

George needs to really take care of his voice as it seems to be getting more "raspy" each week.

I agree....I TOTALLY think that John's "swan song" was his best singing in WEEKS!!!!!! The poor guy was under TREMENDOUS pressure (both externally and self-imposed I'm sure).....but again, I agree....I don't think we've seen the last of that fine young man!

John has wonderful parents who raised him well. I don't think I would have taken it as well as he did. I hope he is successful.

Anyone else besides me think that Simon has more or less checked out of this session of Idol? He didn't even bother to make a comment on the final three when asked.
Fantasia really bothers me. First, I don't think her voice is strong or rangeful at all--Second, now that the comment has been made "Donald Duck on helium"--I can't get that out of my mind when she sings

Also, she just grabbed JS in the group hug last night and wouldn't let him go..... Making sure the camera stayed on her as well, maybe.

Well, we'll see who muddles through next week. I'm already looking on to the next season.

I'm sorry I didn't listen to his farewell song now. I turned the channel when they handed him the mike because last night was so painful.

I cried when they played his clip. He has been an incredible guy through this, credit going to his parents and grandparents. He is obviously a very loved child.

Now on with the show. I read another thread on another board that is the TOTAL opposite of this one. I KNEW Fantasia would not be in the bottom three this time because she now has a following that will WORK for her.

Yes. Exactly the type of CD I would buy. She also strikes me as a class act. AND, her real name is perfect for a singing star - Latoya London. Others would change their name to something like that.

Sorry to see John go, but with the AI CD out and the tour coming up, it's not really over for him anyway. He'll ride the tide for a while, and that's pretty amazing for a shy 16 year old high school boy.

And I've decided that Jasmine deserves a job doing SOMETHING in the entertainment business if she doesn't make it on AI. She is so darned cute and has such a pretty smile. Even DH remarked what a beautiful smile she has, and he doesn't get into AI much.

I agree. I thought he did a good job last night, maybe b/c he was relieved he was leaving?? I thought he did a good job singing "Dean Martin/Sinatra" type songs, but he didn't do well with pop, etc.

I can't stand Fantasia either, her voice, personality, the way she bounces when she sings, etc. My husband and I also thought the same thing as you dzneelvr, she just seems to have to be on camera as much as possible . I would love to see her go next.

I would like to see Latoya win, I think she has a great voice and has been consistent. I'm not a huge Diana fan, but I think she can sing. I like George, he seems like a nice guy, but I don't think he will be in much longer. He just isn't a fantastic singer in my opinion.

Fantasia seems to have taken a turn for the worse. She started off great IMHO. I never cared for her abrasive personality, but I thought her singing was amazing. But the last couple weeks I've been really unimpressed. After her performance of "Summertime", I thought she had the top prize nailed, but it looks like she's run out of steam.

And the jiggle episode on Tuesday didn't help her one iota either. AI is a good, clean show - that was way out of place.

Is there anywhere you can see repeat clips or shows? I missed the first part on Tue and would love to see Fantasia.

For me I am glad it was John voted off and not George. I like George's voice and style. But I am also surprised that I wouldn't mind seeing Jasmine win. I know she isn't always hitting the notes perfect but there is something about her.....she could have a huge following out there and with videos and all.

Actually I think se was just very sad. John's Dad said in an interview that Fantasia and John got along really great. I think she was really sad/happy for him. Happy because she knew he was so relieved.

wow! we get AI in the UK on Friday nights with the results straight after so I can't wait to see this weeks show from all of your comments.

I know that I haven't seen this weeks performances yet but I wish that we could vot off Jon Stevens, his flat mono tone voice really gets to me!!

I think LaToya or Jasmine should win, although I am partial to George Huff!

fyi...I believe Diana is half black and half white. Her mother is definitely white and I've seen a black man by her side in the audience each week. Of course, that's not concrete evidence but that's what I've been thinking.

I am so glad someone else picked up on that. What a phony. She was hanging all over him as if to say that she really never wanted him to go instead of Jenny's World.

As much as I like JS, I am glad that it's over for him. He exited with a lot of class for a 16-year old and this competition can only make him better.

Question - can a contestant in the final 12 come back and try out for the next AI? I suspect the answer is no, because we would have seen some others, but since some of those remaining are so young, I can see them only improving if they had another shot.
