Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

No she did not.

Actually - her bobos could have used a bra bra!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

My thoughts exactly. I don't know what was more distracting last night. Hearing her Jennifers over and over or watching and hoping her bobos wouldn't bobos right out of her dress! I was wondering if they had a 5 second delay in case of wardrobe malfunctions!

Diana's dress was nice, but did nothing for her...the fit was not good at all.

Jasmine looked really nice. LaToya looked great...she is one classy lady.

I really thought I was the only one that noticed Fantasia's need of a bra. That was just way too gross. And I thought they were all pretty bad last night. If I had to pick, I'd say Latoya did the best, but really, it was all awful. So whoever goes, it won't be too surprising.

I thought this was a TALENT show, not who has the best manners, or who's the nicest, or who's the cutest, but about TALENT period. .:duck:

ITA ::yes::

I missed the show last night, but, by the responses here I didn't miss much.....except for the BO-BO"S!:p Will watch tonight, to see who gets the boot!

Yes but not everyone agrees on what constitutes talent, it's a matter of opinion.

What a boring world it would be if everyone had the same tastes and opinions.::yes::

I love the comments about Fantasia's "bobos", they're so funny! I guess I wasn't paying enough attention because I didn't notice it. :confused3

Missed all but Diana and the quick re-cap last night. So no comments on that...

But, why is everyone so adamant that TALENT should be the overriding factor when it comes to voting?

I remember last year Simon told Clay that while he had one of the best vocal performances they had heard, he was not sure he (Clay) was right for the contest - didn't think he was 'idol' material. Even die-hard Clay fans would have to admit he WAS a little geeky looking early on. The judges were always on him about his broadway sound. If it was just about talent - why would that matter?

I thought that was the whole point of the audition process. The judges are supposed to give the public a group of performers, all of whom have talent, and then let America decide who has the ability to become an 'idol'. At that point image and likeability play a huge role.

I don't really have a favorite this year so my vote goes to whoever I think did the best that night.
A lot of people have picked their favorite and vote for that person even if they had an off night. I don't necessarily think that is wrong based on how the contest is set up.

I see this thread has taken a turn for the "worse"....

Please keep it clean folks, kids read this thread, okay?

So anyway... I was just reading an article in the local paper about how Sir Elton John thinks AI is "racist" because the 3 divas were in the bottom 3 last week. I think he's really sticking his neck out with a statement like that - because isn't George a black guy? We don't know how many votes he got, just that he wasn't in the bottom 3.

I REALLY hope this doesn't turn into a race game.

That's what I do. I even voted for Diana the last 2 weeks because I thought she deserved it and I couldn't stand her performances early in the competition.

Why do you think that everyone had such a bad time with Latin night? I think I have a newfound appreciation for Latin music after watching them struggle last night. I guess you might really have to BE Latin to pull it off.;)

Yep, I was one of the ones saying that Diana needed to be voted off early on - but you're right - the last two weeks she has really been good!

I heard the Elton John race comments too. The local radio DJ's were all over that one. Of course their comment was if it's so racist then why did Rueben win last year when it seems that Clay is turning out to be more popular?
I admire his music (Sir Elton) - but think he's way off base with that comment!

yes I agree....a good one
but John is such a sweet kid...I feel bad for him.

I agree too.

I feel bad for him however and I hope he is able to live a very happy and fulfilling life.

For some reason, I got choked up when John was singing his farewell. He's just so darn likable. I hope he's hugely successful in the future.:D

I think that it was time for John to go. I reminded my son that John is very young and he's bound to improve with age.

I felt bad for John even though I was never a fan of his singing.
Maybe we will him from him later on in the future. I'm glad those 3 ladies were good picks for the top 3 tonight.

I wasn't surprised that he got voted off...even while I hoped he'd stay one more week. I am such a wuss...I was crying the whole time he sang...the look on Jasmine's face was so sad. His little video before he sang also made me misty...so nice having his Grandparents in there. His family must be so proud of him.

John even admitted he is relieved and it was getting stressful...did you notice how much better he sang tonight? When the pressure is off and he was just singing for himself what a difference! So now he can come back home and all the hoopla that's going to go with it and try to get back to just being a highschooler and all the fun that comes with the ending of the school year...proms and parties!
