I watched Fantasia and Diana on Ryan Seacrest's show today. They were both extremely gracious. One funny part was that they were talking about Simon's comments and the one in particular about Simon telling Diana that she had oversung because she had just listened to Fantasia sing Summertime and knew she had to do something. Apparently Diana didn't even hear Fantasia since she was in her dressing room getting ready for her next number. Randy was also commenting on Simon's stupidity on making Jasmine cry and commenting Hawaii had better vote and thus getting the sympathy votes and La Toya being kicked off. They joked about the whole age thing, the Donald Duck on helium comment, etc. It sounds like everyone likes to pick on Simon.
I was impessed by both young ladies.

And just for the record, I wasn't calling anyone tone-deaf for voting for Diana. The girl has talent, and showed that at times. But she's nowhere NEAR the performer that Fantasia is, as was CLEARLY seen by her third song debacle on Tuesday. If you want to vote solely on potential, then I could see possibly casting a vote for her.
I was calling people tone-deaf that voted for...um...a couple other people in the "Top 12". Let's just say that, if they are any indication of local talent, I'd advise anyone traveling to Hawaii (or Buffalo New York) to make sure to bring headphones![]()

What wvrevy said.....
I cried like a baby when she won, I have NEVER wanted someone to win that bad in my life.
After weeks of being basically ALONE in my love for her, I read some amazingly ugly things about a 19yo single Mom that I don't believe were warranted or deserved. I have no idea why she was so despised, I can understand taste differences but the outright nastiness was unbelievable. I know I shouldn't have but I took them personally, and it revved up my campaign to make sure everyone I knew knew what was being said about her.
Now I can rest.![]()

I cannot speak for others, but I did not despise Fantasia at all. What I despised was the judges constant pimping of her at the expense of others. Even Tuesday night, when she clearly blew that first number, Randy said that her talent came through. Say what? The judges may not be able to vote for the winner, but they did everything they could to influence the outcome. For that I feel sorry for Fantasia, because se probably was a victim of misguided audience vengence.
And before you guys start slamming the conspiracy theorists, anyone remeber the Vincent incident from last year, when Clay was told that there was a verse they were going to take out so that he didn't rehearse it, then it was thrown in at the last moment? Fox may not be able to slter the votes, but there are other ways they can influence the voting, like sabotging a performer's ear piece or a band changing tempo. I don't think they wanted another embarassment like last year.
I lost respect of Randy and Simon after their Good Day Live interview where they sounded like schoolboys trashing Clay.
Finally, everybody talks about Fantasia's child, but I haven't heard anyone mention something else I picked up on. Does anyone know if Fantasia finished high school? When they showed all the other idols going back to their home towns, they always made an appearance at their high schools. When Fox followed Fantasia to her home town, she showed up at her elementary school. Did she not have a high school to go to? If that's true, I'd really like to know what she is talking about when she talks about how hard she has worked to get where she is today. Not much like a Clay, who made sure he completed his degree, even after he was already clearly on the road to fame and fortune.
I don't know if she finished High School or not. I don't think it's right to judge "how hard" someone has worked to get to where they are based on their education. She is 19-year old single-mother. I am 29, and there is NO WAY I'd be able to pull-off being a single-mom (which I am), work and manage to have a singing career. I assure you she's worked harder to get where she is than any of us will ever know.Originally posted by gometros
