Who or what was Simon laughing at or about during the group singing?

I think he was laughing at Matt and John, who were really hamming it up during the "dance" portions of the group songs.

Who was on Rub's shirt last night?

I think it was Luther.

Way to go Fantasia! How could you not be happy for her? There has never been a more gracious winner. Like her or not, that girl sings from her soul. She seems really down to Earth in the recent interviews I've seen of her. I don't know all of the details of her life, but I think it would make a wonderful feel-good movie in a "Flashdance" kind of way.

Diana will be fine. She's got a great voice that will only get better. I thought she showed a lot of class. Espcially, since Fantasia was the clear favorite in the theatre.

I personally am extremely happy for both of them. I think BOTH of them deserved to be in the top 12, as well as the top 2! Diana will do great! I was proud of her and how she handled everything the judges threw at her. Especially knowing that out of her and Fantasia, Fantasia was the clear favorite of the judges. They are BOTH winners in my opinion! :D

I watched Fantasia and Diana on Ryan Seacrest's show today. They were both extremely gracious. One funny part was that they were talking about Simon's comments and the one in particular about Simon telling Diana that she had oversung because she had just listened to Fantasia sing Summertime and knew she had to do something. Apparently Diana didn't even hear Fantasia since she was in her dressing room getting ready for her next number. Randy was also commenting on Simon's stupidity on making Jasmine cry and commenting Hawaii had better vote and thus getting the sympathy votes and La Toya being kicked off. They joked about the whole age thing, the Donald Duck on helium comment, etc. It sounds like everyone likes to pick on Simon.

I was impessed by both young ladies.

Or is Simon VERY chummy with Paula? My DH swears they are seeing each other off of the show.:o

I loved it when Simon said he "could have done without the whole lemon and white medley, it was excruciating" LOL.

One more post to tick everyone off (still wearing the tinfoil hat

And just for the record, I wasn't calling anyone tone-deaf for voting for Diana. The girl has talent, and showed that at times. But she's nowhere NEAR the performer that Fantasia is, as was CLEARLY seen by her third song debacle on Tuesday. If you want to vote solely on potential, then I could see possibly casting a vote for her.

I was calling people tone-deaf that voted for...um...a couple other people in the "Top 12". Let's just say that, if they are any indication of local talent, I'd advise anyone traveling to Hawaii (or Buffalo New York) to make sure to bring headphones:rolleyes:

I can assure you that IF you are ever lucky enough to come to Buffalo you do not need to wear earphones. We have some very good talent here...ever hear of The GooGoo dolls? They are from Buffalo. We are not tone deaf...some of us just like a different type of music. I personally can't listen to Fantasia. I like how her personality changed during the competition...but her voice bothers me as much as nails on a chalkboard. That is just my feelings and opinions....I'm entitiled to like who I like without being insulted, just as you are can like who you like. If everyone liked the exact same thing we'd be living in a pretty boring society. If everybody had to vote only 1 way...why bother doing AI at all?

Did anyone see Fantasia on Jay Leno? I watched and thought she was very personable. I have to admit though that I am getting a bit tired of the whole "Bo Bo" thing.

I fell asleep!! Waaaaaa!!

I suffered thru the whole Kate Hudson interview and that's all I remember!

I did see her on Entertainment Tonight, though, and she was awesome. She is going to employ her Mother as her baby's caretaker when she goes on tour. I thought that was such a "me" thing to do.

Although I'm not a big fan of Fantasia, she does very well on her interviews. Very personable and likable. She will do well. And I think Diana has handled the loss very well too. Tough being #2.

I agree...Fantasia is handling herself very well in her interviews. Big change in my opinion of her from the beginning when I thought she was a bit over the top.

I am not crazy about Fantasia and I wanted Diana to win; I don't hate Fantasia, her style of singing just bugged me, BUT I think she's more interesting and has more personality than Ruben ever did...to me Ruben is more like La Toya...no personality and pretty boring.

What wvrevy said..... :p

I cried like a baby when she won, I have NEVER wanted someone to win that bad in my life.

After weeks of being basically ALONE in my love for her, I read some amazingly ugly things about a 19yo single Mom that I don't believe were warranted or deserved. I have no idea why she was so despised, I can understand taste differences but the outright nastiness was unbelievable. I know I shouldn't have but I took them personally, and it revved up my campaign to make sure everyone I knew knew what was being said about her.

Now I can rest. :teeth:

I cannot speak for others, but I did not despise Fantasia at all. What I despised was the judges constant pimping of her at the expense of others. Even Tuesday night, when she clearly blew that first number, Randy said that her talent came through. Say what? The judges may not be able to vote for the winner, but they did everything they could to influence the outcome. For that I feel sorry for Fantasia, because se probably was a victim of misguided audience vengence.

And before you guys start slamming the conspiracy theorists, anyone remeber the Vincent incident from last year, when Clay was told that there was a verse they were going to take out so that he didn't rehearse it, then it was thrown in at the last moment? Fox may not be able to slter the votes, but there are other ways they can influence the voting, like sabotging a performer's ear piece or a band changing tempo. I don't think they wanted another embarassment like last year.

I lost respect of Randy and Simon after their Good Day Live interview where they sounded like schoolboys trashing Clay.

Finally, everybody talks about Fantasia's child, but I haven't heard anyone mention something else I picked up on. Does anyone know if Fantasia finished high school? When they showed all the other idols going back to their home towns, they always made an appearance at their high schools. When Fox followed Fantasia to her home town, she showed up at her elementary school. Did she not have a high school to go to? If that's true, I'd really like to know what she is talking about when she talks about how hard she has worked to get where she is today. Not much like a Clay, who made sure he completed his degree, even after he was already clearly on the road to fame and fortune.

Well said!

Fantasia did not finish HS, she dropped out. *But* she is working (or planning on) her GED.

I saw that clip of Randy & Simon. They made themselves look like complete fools. Grown men acting like 12 yo's on national tv.

I remember the problem with Vincent last year. Clay handled it like a true professional. In the long run, I don't think it really mattered. The phones were nearly impossible to get through. In the long run it was just a matter of which set of fans got through the most. But it's **over** and hasn't hurt Clay's career one iota. Clay has done fine, Rub has done fine. They are still good friends!!::yes::

I was really bothered by a clip of Simon I saw shortly after Wed nights show. (I think it was on Fox news.) He was asked how he liked the results. He said he was very pleased that "America got it right". He also went on about how very angry/unhappy he would have been if Diana had won. How *their* reputation would have been lost. I thought it was COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY for him to have said that.

I thought this show was about "celebrating" new young talent. Sure, there are going to be *kids* you like better that others. I am so discusted with the lack of sportmanship and the constant bashing of each other's preferences (in general, not just this board). If it doesn't stop, this show is going to implode on itself.....

I don't know if she finished High School or not. I don't think it's right to judge "how hard" someone has worked to get to where they are based on their education. She is 19-year old single-mother. I am 29, and there is NO WAY I'd be able to pull-off being a single-mom (which I am), work and manage to have a singing career. I assure you she's worked harder to get where she is than any of us will ever know.

Besides, as I recall - High School is easy. Raising a kid isn't.

While I certainly do NOT condone not having a high school diploma(it really drives me crazy) there are MANY MANY famous people in Hollywood and other businesses that do not have their high school diploma.

I also do NOT condone having a child out of wedlock but at least she kept her child and did not have an abortion nor did she throw the child in the trash. She goes to church and is bring up her child that way also so it can't be all bad.

While I would have preferred that Latoya been the winner Fantasia got the votes. I liked Diana but with the bad notes she hit there was no way she was going to be able to pull it off in the end(no matter whose fault it was as to why she hit the bad notes). So far I have been pleased with the way she handles herself in the public.

At the show Wednesday night I enjoyed the song where all the top winners along with Diana and Fantasia sang. Later on there was one sore spot with me with Fantasia...she and Diana were singing a song together and Fantasia threw her arm out and covered up Dianas face. That was rude.I do wish though that she would not turn almost everything she sings into one of those "foot stompin" gospel songs with all the extra "yaaa yaaas " in there. I realize that is the way "her people"do things in their church but every song does not need it.

I just wonder if Fantasia is really the one raising her child. She has been away for three months now while she was involved in American Idol and she will be on the road all summer with the tour. Her daughter will obviously be well provided for financially but at what price. How much of her mother is she going to see in the next few years? Sometimes we have to put our own dreams on hold to do what's best for our children..... money isn't always what's best.
