Moving Day!
Sorry, folks...forgot to spell check this. Wasn't about to go back and redo when I already had pictures and smilies in...forgive me.
Moving Day! Yea! I have been so excited to try out the Boardwalk Villa’s and DVC. We almost bought points at the Boardwalk in 1999. Since then, part of me has always wanted to buy into the DVC but I have not been sold on the idea. We love trying new resorts every time we go. Would OWNING at the DVC cramp my style? So we rented points from a fellow DIS’r. No not those bottom of the barrel priced points… I paid fair market value. It was a win, win for both parties. I got a contract that I felt comfortable with, the owner got more than $8-10 pp, as seems to be the trend these days.
We slept in this morning. Well, slept in as much as you can with a 2 & 5 year old. After the A.M. cleansing & clothing ritual, I with kinder in the double-wide headed to the Everything POP Café (or what ever they call the food court). Where is the hubby? Well he chose to finish the packing and meet us there in ‘JUST A FEW’.
Being that it was close to 9, the place was jammed! I mean JAMMED with people.

What were all these people doing? Don’t they have a park that they should be at by now? Guess they are not as Camando as I...
Again, this food court is not bad…but I hate standing in a line for every family member to get food…what a waste of time. Add in pushing the double-wide while Tink has discovered that she wants to put her feet sideways out of the stroller and kick anything and everyone in her reach. Also add lines 30 people long for food, then attempting to balance food & drink and momma doanlike! Today we were going in one line kids, one line! There will be something you will eat in this one line, or you will eat NOTHING…and like it!
After 15 minutes in the line, I loose my patients and begin calling dh…and calling…
Where are you?
I’m almost done.
You said, ‘Just a few minutes’…it’s been like 20!
Dead phone
Call back…Have you left yet?
No.
WHEN ARE YOU LEAVING?
Soon.
(With a Momma growl)
This is ridiculous! Then you can get your own food! How do you expect me to move this stroller, hold food & drinks and kept track of OUR CHILDREN?
I’ll be right there… and the phone went dead.
Or did it?
He finally showed up, after I had paid and got our beverages…Thanks for your help, honey…
I took a detour after we were finished eating and headed over to pick up some luggage transfer tickets. The POP Bell Service had told us we could just leave all things in our room, they would take care of it and have it to BW by noon . We were not about to let anything get lost, so wanted to tag everything ourselves.
I know…we gotta let go of the lost luggage thing.
Just can’t.
Not yet!
We are trying…seeking professional help in fact…
Well maybe not.
So we tagged our own goods…then I came up with the idea

that it would be easier and quicker to just take a cab over to the BW…Right? So I proposed this to dh. He thought about it for about 30 seconds and shot me down…said that it would cost too much (duh…since when did my dh become thrifty?). So I pointed out how much of a pain it would be to lug the Laptop, Carry On, Daily backpack & Double-wide on the bus to MK, then transfer to a Bus to BW.
He told me that IF there was a cab waiting, when we got to the entrance, we could take it.
I made sure there was one waiting…
We arrived to the BW, in minutes…yea MINUTES! Total for the cab ride + Tip= $10, time saved = at least an hour! PRICELESS!
The Boardwalk is simply beautiful. The lobby is jaw dropping. As you step into the lobby, you hear the steps of everyone on the hardwood floor. Immediately in front of you is a musical carosell surrounded by a circular plush bench for sitting. You turn to the left and find oversized, stuffed chairs and couches in intimate groupings. My children quickly found the imitation wooden roller coaster replica and were intranced!
For some reason everywhere we went on this trip we encountered CM’s who were ‘earning their ears’. We found it really cute! Their mentors assisting them in their every move, repeating the Disney Mantra, to ensure that they learn their CM ropes. Very cute!
Mr. Earning His Ears, who checked us in, was as friendly & helpful as any other CM I have encountered. I just LOVED the ‘Welcome Home, Mrs. PrincessJV’. If that alone, doesn’t get you to buy a DVC…I don’t know what will…just sends shivers saying it again…again! (wishful thinking) He told me I could check into my room immediately if I was good with taking a 2nd floor, NS, BW view, close to elevator…pause…OR…I could wait for a 4th floor, NS, BW view, with semi closeness to the elevator. I told him, with those options, we’d take door #2 and head over to Epcot for a bit, until our room was ready.
Mr. Earning His Ears

went over the Dining Plan in utter detail and told me to check in at the Conceierge if I had any dining needs or issues with my points. He gave me a map, circled several places, X’d others. I gave him my head nod and pretended to grasp it all. Then he gave me my golden tickets. Well maybe they are not GOLD, but they may have well been. Keys to the World are like GOLD to me…or Diamonds. These little credit card creations not only unlock a place to lay your head and rest your feet, but give you the ability to charge any and everything in the world to your room. If that wasn’t enough, being on the Dinning plan, they also give the sense of eating for free (so we paid $600 and sum for this free feeding feeling prevledge…who cares…it’s just money!)
Kiddo's waiting to get on with the fun!
Map in hand, we dumped off our loot at the Bell Service and were off…to try and get to the Boardwalk. We headed to the beautiful glass doors on the Boardwalk side. There must be a staircase down. Nope…not here. Ah, there are several nice chairs to sit and relax on. Note to self…for when I am ready to take a break from the parks. (haha…maybe someday)
Back inside, this time we take a look at that map we were given (I know they give them for a reason…duh). The duration of our trip we took the only way we could find to the Boardwalk. It was putzy, but it worked. I wouldn’t put it past us, if we missed a better way…Please let me know.
We walked past the Lobby, past the entrance into the Boardwalk Inn wing, past the Restrooms and around the corner we found a little elevator no bigger than one family could fit. It worked. It brought us to our destination, the Boardwalk. But it was putzy!
Our first impression was the Boardwalk looks like a lot of fun. People scattered about eating, strolling, sitting and relaxing. There are small buildings, which don’t open until the evening, where you can buy a snack at, get your hair braided and play carnival style games. You can also choose to board a boat to either MGM (Yacht/Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin) or Epcot. We timed this boat and found that if it’s at the dock and just about to board, it is faster to take the boat. If there is not boat there, you might as well walk, unless your tootsies are too tired. This day we chose to walk to Epcot and enjoy the surroundings.
We loved the entrance at the International Gateway. It is Parisian themed, with large Canapies (I’m sure the Parisians have a name for these…but I do not). Each day, 2-3 Security CM’s were checking bags and the same for the Park Entrance. After you walk through the entrance, it’s a beautiful short walk up the canal. To the right the Eiffel Tower and everywhere is Disney Foliage trimmed to perfection.
We headed straight for FP’s for Soarin. The plan was I would run in, since no strollers are allowed. After I obtained the FP’s I would get us lunch at the Café across from Soarin (I seriously can never remember the name of this place. Not that it is not a memorable eatery, just that the name is not memorable). It was a hot day for us. 80’s, with sun in full array! All of us were not dressed for the heat. Disney TV said that it would be 70’s today, NOT 80’s. I did have layers on the Lil’l Diz Man, so he was free to strip some MN clothing off. But Tink, was dressed for dinner tonight, with the Mouse’s. She had a long sleeve shirt on under her cute Denim Mouse Dress… So dh found some shade to park himself and the kiddos at, while I did the deads.
BOGO ALERT:
20 minutes later, I came out with FP’s in my purse & balancing the worlds largest Fanta (for dh & I), a double plated meal, including 2 servings of Mongolian Beef & Chinese Noodles and a giant square 4x4 of Strawberry Shortcake desert.
Meal feed 4, CS meals used = 1.
Rating: A
Even if you are not on the dining plan, this place has large servings, and can be a budget saver if you share. There is range of counters from Sushi to sandwiches, a cold case with salads, fruit & ‘Uncrustables’ meals for the kiddos. Best of all is the MASIVE dessert counter with pastries to tarts. YUMMO!
Huddled in our patch of shade, we disinfected the grimy little hands from Disney germs and gave the kiddos sippy cups filled with juice (curtosy of the POP food court) & a utensil to move the food from the plate to their mouths. No less than 3 minutes later, the plates were emptied. Not a lick left…not even enough for a Disney Mouse!
Tummies full, it was time to try out Nemo & Turtle talk. Both were being refurbed last we were here. Neither disappointed. However simple Nemo is, it is also very relaxing and beautiful. Both Kiddos loved the fish

and even more LOVED ‘finding NEMO’. For Turtle Talk, I sat on the floor with Tink (off to the side just incase we needed to leave). Lil’l Diz found himself a piece of carpet in the middle. Dh, sat with all of the other parental units on the benches. Lil’l Diz tried really hard to get picked, he raised his hand high, it just didn’t work. We however were very proud of him for trying! After the show he was bummed that they didn’t call on him. Maybe next time kiddo…maybe…
We again, were blasted with heat when we left the building. Tink was melting fast (not just from the heat). I decided to send DH & Lil’l Diz to hit TT & use our FP’s for Soarin. I with double-wide stuffed with Tink, Minnie & Pal Mickey went to try to get into our room, and unpack. Dh was given strict orders to be back at our hotel no later than 4PM, because we were eating with the Mouse that night and they would need to re-freshen up before our meal (we should at least look presentable for the MOUSE). (take note on this…more to come on this subject!)
I took the Friendship boat across to Morocco & then to the Boardwalk, cause momma was HOT pushing the double-wide with overtired bucking bronco Tink! By the time we boarded the 1st boat Tink was out.
Out, asleep that is. To my surprise Tink slept all the way back. In fact, she slept until the minute I opened the door to our Home Away from Home for the next 7 nights.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by this:
I un-strapped Tink and we were off to explore our home.
Our view from the deck:
The Bathroom:
Vanity:
The Kitchen-ish area:
Bedroom:
I called the Bell Service for our luggage.
It was not there.
Appears that POP had not processed their transfers yet.
WHAT?!?

I was told our luggage would be to the BWV by noon. It was now 3! We needed to re-freshen our frumpy selves before we met the Mouse tonight.
The bell service apologized for the delay and said they would send up our ‘carried over’ luggage, which we checked before we heading to Epcot.
I hung up and called DH, to make sure they were making their way back to the resort. (There will be a trend to this)
While out with dad, Lil'l Diz Man decided this would be his car when he turns 16...wishful thinking son...
Where are you?
Just about to get on Soarin.
Hun?
What is taking you so long?
We did Mission Space too.
WHAT?!?

That wasn’t in the plan! How are you going to get back here in time to dinner?
I’ll make it…We’ll run if we have too.
(side note: Lil’l Diz Man can be fast, when he is playing the his friends or running from me when it is time for a bath. Other than those times, he is slow. Not even Ketchup Slow. More like Hour Glass SLOW).
No sooner than I hang up the cell, our room phone rings.
“Mrs. PrincessJV, Good News! We just checked in your luggage and we’ll bring it up as soon as we can!”
At least our luggage was coming…now how will we get to Dinner on time?
