We are going to DW in early June and will stay part of the time nearby at my parents (about 30 miles away). We are doing 4 Disney days and plan to stay at a hotel near Disney because my parents have been there done that types. We have a family of 5 and are looking at suites nearby but not onsite. My parents will drop us off at the hotel then pick us up 4 days later. Anyway how realiable is offsite transportation to the parks? I really don't want to rent a car because with insurance the cost can get high.

I can't answer you about the transportation, since we rent a car.

I am curious as to why you need the rental insurance? If you have car insurance, it should cover you, and most credit cards(use it to pay for your rental) have supplemental insurance. I have never taken the extra insurance when renting a car.

I am an ex rental car agent and have personally talked to my insurance agent and I am not covered. I have seen too many people think they have coverage but come back with an accident and found out it didn't cover. I am a better safe than sorry kinda of gal.

Downtown Disney hotels that can sleep 5 are: Best Western, Royal Plaz hotel, Double Tree Guest Suites. I think that would be your best bet for hotel for goo d transporation. The other hotels offsite can be iffy.

Check hotelkingdom.com for hotel discounts on some downtown disney hotels. Also check tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews.
