Please help us! :goodvibes

We are headed to the House of Mouse in October and are (for the first time) staying off site for a few days before the rest of our gang arrives and heads off to our stay at AKL. With that being said, I would love some recommendations on some "Off Property" locations that we (DH & I) should try before our ADR list begins when the gang arrives!

For us, we always hit the Cracker Barrel when we get a chance.....we don't have them out here in California.

There are a couple nearby and are always a pleasant meal [not to mention some goodies to take back to the room :goodvibes]

Not sure if you want to drive this far, but Dixie Crossroads is about 35 miles away, located in Titusville. Its near Cocoa Beach. They have amazing seafood at very reasonable prices! Honestly, any seafood we ate at a Disney restaurant was disappointing after our meal there.

Thanks. Cracker Barrels are around where we live, but they are a great option for breakfast for us too! :)

That sounds interesting. We love seafood most of all. We have a couple nights where we could venture off the beaten tourist path. So thank you for the suggestion. I'll check to see if they have a website. :thumbsup2

I've never actually eaten off property, but I am going to be next year at times, so I found some lists throughout DISboards (wish I would have saved the threads), however, here is what is still in my list of choices after reviewing menus, reviews, and the like with my food notes in parentheses:

Perkins (Breakfast)
Boston's Fish House (Fish House)
BubbaLou's Bodacious Barbecue (BBQ)
Cafe Tu Tu Tango (Pizza, Spanish homestyle)
Carrabba's (Italian Grill)
Chevy's (Mexican)
Flippers Pizza (Pizza)
Fogo de Cho (Brazillian Steakhouse)
Four Rivers Smokehouse (Smokehouse)
Giordano's Pizza (Stuffed Pizza and more (Thin))
Havana's (Cuban)
Kobe Japanese Steak House (Sushi!)
Logan's Roadhouse (Roadhouse)
Miller's Ale House (Brewhouse)
Seasons 52 (Fresh Grill (Fancy))
Teak Neighborhood Grill (Burgers & Sandwiches)
Fox and Hounds (Sports Bar)
Amalfi's (Pizzeria, Live music)
Johnnie's Hideaway (Steakhouse (Fancy))
La Forcetta's (Italian family)
Moonfish (Sushi!, Steaks)
Roy's (Hawaiian Tap house food)

OH, thank you so much for your list DG!!!:goodvibes I was trying to find any links or threads about this subject; sadly I had no luck. :sad1: Your list is a great start to my research. I see a few on your list we were already considering like Roy's and Miller's Ale House. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Bonefish! We also did Buffalo Wild Wings on our last trip (DH had to watch NHL finals) and it was surprisingly good. Plus they had a balloon person which kept DS entertains despite his exhaustion.

Four rivers is incredible!!! Best meal of this years trip!!!!!

Have fun!!!

Buffalo Wild Wings does blow the doors off the food at ESPN club. Hawks fan or Bruins? We were staying at BWV during the cup finals and did some ESPN and in room watching. Devastating as a Bruins fan, but it was alot of fun interacting with the Chicago fans, probably the most classy fanbase I've come across too.

Definitely do Miller's Ale House! Back when I was on the DCP it was the Orlando Ale House, but has remained pretty consistent.

Great food, fun atmosphere and not far off property at all, so you'll still be in the general vicinity of DTD.

Enjoy wherever you end up!

Thanks all for the suggestions. Along with dinner ideas, breakfast recommendations are welcome too. I love doing a nice breakfast on vacation too!

And Miller's Ale House is a keeper on the list for now after reading their menu!:thumbsup2

we have two we really enjoy. for a nicer meal, texas de brazil. it is alittle more expensive, but I signed up with them online and I received a good coupon, if they still do that. for many years, a must every trip is bubbalou's bbq. it is casual, inexpensive and up near universal. funny how we found it, my dd27, she was young and in love in Nsync and lance bass, (you can see how long ago this was) she read where they visited this bbq and liked it, so we just had to go where they went.

We have only eaten at the one in CA, but we love Bubba Gumps.

If you are looking for entertainment, we love Medieval Times and often find coupons for it.

I was also about to suggest Texas de Brazil! Absolutely wonderful meal!

Flippers is our favorite pizza place by far (it is the top of the list overall...not just Orlando list). It is our must do on every trip, twice if we can squeeze it in. We usually go to the location closest to DTD in the Crossroads plaza (it is their Lake Buena Vista/Disney location) but have also been to the Old Town/Celebration location which was good too (much smaller though). Fresh ingredients and always have had great service! They once forgot one of the toppings on our pizza and we told them it was no big deal and they said absolutely not, made us a fresh one and boxed the other one up to keep. In many, many trips that is the only time anything has even been wrong/messed up.

They recently opened a Chuy's on 192 - we loved them when we lived in Austin.

Seconding this recommendation. This restaurant is one of the few things I miss about living in FL!

If you want to go to a nice place, Le Coq au Vin has amazing French food. You won't feel out of place in nice jeans, but it's not a tourist-y place. When I was growing up, this was THE place for anniversary/birthday dinners. I went there on one of my first dates with my husband. And my parents are going there for their 36th anniversary in Oct. :)

For not fancy - we love Golden Corral - we do not have them in NJ.

For a nicer meal, I highly suggest Bonefish for seafood, Texas de brazil is a must at least once in your life to have Braziliian churrachioera (sp?). Fogo de Chao is along the same lines as Texas de brazil but we never tried that one yet.

We have also done 2 of Emeril's - Choup Choup in the Hotel next to Universal (forgot the name) and the one he had at Citywalk - not sure if that one is still there. I know he is outdated in the food network world, but his restaurants serve top notch food with high quality. Being Florida, you dont have to get dressed fancy for any of these either! Not a lick of food we disliked at either of these spots! We did these either pre-DD or one night when BFF watched DD so we could go out alone. Unless you have a very mature palate, I dont think his food is all that kid-friendly.
