Currently I plan to fly down to Florida on Sunday August 22 to visit with some relatives in Daytona Beach Area for a few days before heading over to WDW on the 24th. HOwever, i just heard that those same relatives might be up here in CT visiting family. I might need to just hang out in the Orlando area for 2 nights in that case, so I'm looking for a decent hotel, with a great pool, that won't break the bank that's off property. Just in case.

Thank you,
Cindy Z in CT

Where in Orlando do you want to stay?
Downtown - The Bohemian is brand new
I-drive - Embassy Suites, Courtyard

I'm really not sure where I want to stay as I don't know the area very well. Somwhere near WDW area so that I'm close for the morning I need to get to my hotel. I guess I'd need a hotel that drives over to the parks (don't most have shuttles?)...and would they ever drop off at another resort? Didn't think of that. Maybe I'd rent a car for those few days.

Last year we stayed at a new Homewood Suites on Hospitality Way that was VERY nice. It's within walking distance to Universal and just off International Drive. We were so impressed with it that we now try to stay at a Homewood Suites any time we stay anywhere other than Disney. The suites have a full kitchen, hot breakfast buffet, and free food and drinks (including beer & wine) every afternoon Mon. - Fri.

Depending on which resort you are planning to stay at, you may want to try to get a room only code for your first 2 nights. Otherwise, there are plenty of decent hotels in Kissimmee. Check out Travelocity and/or Expedia, etc. They have reviews and ratings of each hotel. We stayed at the Hampton Inn East Maingate for our first and last night in '03 that was just across I-4 from Disney for $50/night with tax.

Oh, how I wish there were Room only codes!!

Then I'd stay at a moderate for the hotel only days, and then over to POP for our park days.....

If only.....if only....I could get a room only codes!!!::yes::

 this is me.....waiting for the room only codes!!

We just came back where we stayed 2 nights at the Radisson Resort Parkway. We paid $75 a night and really enjoyed this place. The room was clean if basic with a pool view. The pool itself was beautifully landscaped and one of the two pools was heated.
I know they have a shuttle to Disney, but didn't use it. If you are interested, check out www.mousesavers.com for pictures and a review.

Hope this helps.
