Has anyone bought a cheap one off ebay(or similar)? Are they ok? I am looking to get one for my Nikon D80. I have the wireless one which is great if you are in front of the camera but would like to try a wired one to be able to use it from behind the camera.
Thanks:)

I bought one from Amazon and it works just fine. I did read the reviews and there were a couple that were cheaper but they had complaints about the connection fitting where it goes into the camera and I didn't like the sound of that. It still cost me about half of the price of the actual Nikon one.

Like you, I have a wireless remote and that one is a genuine Nikon one which cost quite a lot more and I just needed the corded one for fireworks photos last year and it's still working fine

I've used one on my D600 and K-5II. I haven't had any problems with knockoff shutter releases or batteries.

I used an off brand once and it failed at the worst time. That's just after just a couple months of barely any use. I ended up buying the Canon one.
