odd ? about DME

Can't the kids be listed on Grandparents reservation, thus they would be eligible for the DME ride?

The grandparents do not have a reservation - the two kids will be staying at the grandparent's home.

ETA - At least, that is how I read it.

But I looked back at the OP's posts (not to stalk, but to see if there were details that helped explained) and she asked earlier about putting five people in one POP room for one night. But in that post she had three children not four (and it was earlier this month, so I don't think new children were born). So, I am now totally confused and will stop offering likely useless advice (useless because I clearly don't actually understand the question/situation).

I read it as 6 flying in, grandparents driving from Tampa. 2 staying at AoA with grandparents on night 1, the other 4 at Pop. Then, the 4 move to AoA the next day, to join 2 kids+2 grandparents.

So, if grandparents have a reservation that first night, as I am reading it, can't the kids just DME off of that?

I don't think the grandparents have a reservation! The OP says that they are trying to avoid having the grandparents drive to MCO. The family group of 6 is staying at AoA. But because they are flying in, a day early, and can only book 4 in a room at Pop, the elder 2 grandkids are going to stay in Tampa, with the grandparents. But, because the 2 elder grandkids aren't listed on the Pop reservation, they can't ride the DME bus. But, I still think they can pay to ride the bus...around $15-20 pp one way if they book Mears when they get there. And they would most likely be put on the DME bus to Pop that the rest of the family was on...then meet up with the grandparents and head to Tampa. Just seems like a lot of driving to avoid booking an extra room....but maybe the kids want some time with the grandparents and vice versa.

Agree -
Although I read the OP again to see if I was understanding it correctly and now I am unsure if anyone has a DME reservation on their arrival day/POP Century reservation? From the question dealing with the magic bands etc. - It looks like they have a DME reservation for 6 with the AOA reservation the following day and hope to use that a day prior which could lead to additional problems for them. Hopefully I misunderstood on that....

Dang....I hope that isn't the case!!!

OP......hopefully you have already made your DME reservation for your early arrival. I'm going to assume that you have, correct? Just because you have a reservation for the bus for your arrival at AoA does not mean you can automatically take the bus the day before and head to a different resort! Please come back and let us know if any of us are correctly understanding what your situation is!!!

We are a family of 6, all 6 of use are arriving to orlando 9/24 but only 4 have DME listed since 4 of us are staying at POP for 1 day before all 6 are going to AOA 9/25. Two children will be meeting grandparents at POP and staying with them for the night until our AOA room is ready. So, two children are not listed for DME on 9/24 but are listed 9/25 and still need to ride on 9/24.

If our AOA was listed with a flight for 6 with MDE will that be a problem if POP respervation is for 4 people? If everyone scans their magic bands does it matter the exact day to ride the bus to resort?
pixxi...here's the issue. You can only ride DME if you have an existing reservation at a WDW resort. The two kids that will be spending the night with the grandparents aren't entitled to ride the bus because they aren't listed on your Pop reservation. And you can't add them to the Pop reservation because that puts you way over the room occupancy limits! As I said before, you have some options...
1. book a second room and split the family into groups of three. Then book everyone for DME.
2. Go to Mears counter upon arrival at MCO. Book a ride for a parent and a child on the Mears shuttle. It should be around $15-20 pp one way. They will most likely be put on the same Pop bus that the rest of the family is on. Then, the grandparents can pick them up right at Pop.
3. The grandparents meet you at the airport and take the two kids.

The other thing to keep in mind is luggage. If either one of the two kids is going to have a checked bag, they won't get a luggage tag for it! Not unless they are listed on the reservation. So, they need to be prepared to go to baggage claim and get the bags. That will be the case with scenarios 2 and 3.

I think I finally get it. The op has a room for 4 of them and was hoping to transport the extra 2 to Pop for her parents to pick up. Unfortunately for her there is no way to set that up thru DME.

That's how I'm reading it as well. Since they leave tomorrow, I doubt we'll ever find out how it worked out.
