Starting to make plans to go back to WDW yet again. I have a few questions on options

1) SSR is our home resort. However, will I have a problem getting a room at another DVC resort (not OKW) for October travel if I can't make those reservations until March?

2) If we decide to do a cruise instead, can I use points to pay for my wife and I and pay cash for my two children.

3) We have never been to DL, would it be worth the trip to California?

Thanks

1) Yes...Food and Wine Festival, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Low point requirements.

2) Yes...you can normally use a combination of points/cash.

3) Yes...just don't compare apples to apples, because that's not the case. DLR has many attractions that are considered better than their counterpart @ WDW. Also, it's fun to go for a whole week and combine the trip with a visit to San Diego or Hollywood.

I've been staying at BCV or BWV for the last five years in a row specifiaclly to go to Food and Wine and never had a problem getting a room 7 months out. This includes one year when Halloween fell on a Saturday and we were at BWV and there are a lot of activities at the Boardwalk for Halloween. What I always do is mke a ressie ASAP at your home resort just in case so you know you'll be able to go on the trip, then at the 7 month window, call and switch to wherever you want to stay. If they are booked, get on the waiting list. I've done this for Thanksgiving at WLV even and never had a problem.

Hi,

I don't know about quesstion #1 and 2, but as I used to live in Seattle and go to DL all the time can answer #3. The MK in DL I think is better. The rides have more space. For example, HM is huge old Southern mansion that has its own yard and Indianna Jones is a large temple that you approach from afar and is huge. That being said for us, once we were done with MK we were done. We don't care for the new park so we would get bored. I know shocking huh?:rotfl: :rotfl:

Book SSR then try at the 7month, you will have a place to stay, good luck.

I can answer about the cruise. We went last August. Paid for two adults using points and two kids using "cash" (OK, plastic). It's no trouble. However, they do need the entire payment at the time of the reservation.

Interestingly, were rerouted to the Eastern Caribbean - it was a Western cruise - due to a hurricane. Our DVC account was credited with the difference in points (everyone else got a refund to their room account). I'm not certain that we got points for the kids (I suppose I could check) - we might have eaten that cost difference. In any case, they didn't have to do it - so it was nice.

We had a great time and definitely recommend it.
