October 7, 2012 - California Dreamin' Coastal Cruise

Wow - that could hurt!! Fingers crossed it gets sorted before you have to fly out! Yes we definitely have an advantage there! ;)

Does anyone know Kelly? Last name begins with A...don't want to put it here since we all have DIS names...
She signed up for our photowalk and I have not heard from her regarding her stateroom number.
Kelly you can send me a pm with your number or tell me if you are GTY.
I just want to be able to contact everyone while on board in case times or locations change...
Thanks
denise

Looks like I will be solo on this cruise. Unfortunately, my parents were going to be joining me but they had to cancel. I know it's too late for FE or SM but I would love to come to the meet and meet other Disers. Still looking forward to the cruise even if I am solo. After two previous cruises I will actually get to sleep in a real bed instead of the sofa bed!

Welcome Deann.

Hello... Welcome, I joined late so I am not in the FE either. But am doing the secret Mickey. Yea.. Can't wait!!!!!!

No shuttle?? Oh, well, this just keeps getting better and better, lol. I could have sworn I saw reviews somewhere that stated CP had a shuttle. Hmmm. We seem to be getting conflicting info from them. :confused3

I guess if they don't offer a shuttle my husband can drive us and the luggage to the port, drop us off and then drive back to the hotel to park and walk/take a cab back over. Or we'll just save the hassle and pay the extra $14 to park at the port.

We're staying at the Crowne Plaza too and there is a shuttle. I've called a few times on this and they assure me there is a shuttle. They better have one or I'm making a big stink about it! We rented a car so not parking at the hotel. Also parking is based on availability so if you booked on Priceline then parking will be $10 per day. I think the parking at the port is $12 so I would park at the port versus taking a shuttle.

We're staying at the Crowne Plaza too, and were also assured by the hotel that they do have a complimentary shuttle to the port. We'll have to hold a demonstration in the lobby if they decide not to have a shuttle when we arrive!!

Ha ha! I'm with you Flower!!!

Oh, that'd be fantastic! I'll be joining you, too. I called twice, and they said no shuttle. I am excited you heard differently. Maybe I got a rookie. (0:

Hey Everyone-

I just went into my cruise itinerary for this cruise, and something new has been added:

Day 3, Tuesday, Oct 9 San Francisco CA

Pirate Deck Party

From 9.45 until 10.30 pm.

Do you think that they're going to go out into San Francisco Bay and shoot the fireworks show and then pull back in???

I'm now SERIOUSLY confused!!!

Oh, but wouldn't that be cool!

Oh boy - I'm doing a tour that night, due back at the ship at 945pm!! Hope we don't miss too much of the party!!! It will be interesting to see what happens there! I guess time will tell!
Thanks, Flower for the info! :)

That would be very very strange if they did that. Part of the excitement of fireworks at sea is that there's no other light pollution, so the fireworks seem brighter by comparison (just like stars when you get farther from metropolitan areas are more apparent).

Thanks for the feedback on the Crowne Plaza shuttle. I'm thinking we may just go ahead and park at the port if we're being charged for parking anyway. it will probably make it a little easier.

I'm a little bummed. We had planned on staying at Disneyland 3 nights after the cruise but we decided it was just going to be a little too costly, plus we have some members in our party who have to go back to work, so I cancelled my reservation. I hate the feeling of being so close to Disneyland and not going there though, so now we're thinking maybe we'll just buy twilight tickets for the night before the cruise, just so we can go to Carsland for a few hours. I'm trying to decide if that's even going to be worth it though. That weekend is GayDays and I'm sure by the time we get in the park all the fastpasses for Radiator Springs racers will be gone. Anyone have any idea what the standby lines would be like at that point in the day and how bad the crowds would be?

As far as I know, Unless you're part of a convention, DL doesn't offer twilight tickets.

Of course that weekend is Gay Days. We have an uncanny knack for being at Disney during those festivities. At WDW it is not bad. It is so big and my kids could care less what others are doing. However, I was in Disneyland for Gay Days on one of my solo trips and I don't think I will be taking my children during such an event in California. No offense, but those are not values we are teaching to our children. Thanks for the heads up. We will be able to make other plans for Sunday.

FYI...I just check my cruise itinerary for the 9/30 Cruise, it shows Pirate Deck Party on Friday (San Diego). Interesting that DCL would do it different on two cruises that are B2B

I don't know the answers to your actual questions but depending on the ages of the people in your group, I would suggest that you try the single rider line. It moves very quickly.
