October 5, 2008 Wonder Cruise!

Life is good. :teeth:

So, tomorrow is shopping day. My DW and I will be heading out to the mall early Saturday morning to pick up what ever essentials we might need. I'm sure my DW will buy a completely new wardrobe, (now that the credit card was just paid off) and I'll spend hours following her around every store with her asking me, "Do you think this is too dressy for Palo? Or, "Does this outfit look good on me". Or, “I can't ware that it'll make me look fat". For all you guys out there you know what I mean... Maybe I'll bring the iPod with me!

I'll be doing the same thing tomorrow to Coach! I have to start with emptying the suitcases first though...then rewrite my list of things to take...then I'll realize what i'm out of and *then* I'll go shopping.

Coach, be thankful it's only a four day cruise. ;)

Got our docs yesterday. I got home from work and opened to get the mail and there they were in the door waiting for me to see!!! Getting excited now only a few weeks left til we leave:cool1: Hope everyone gets thiers real soon!!

OK, my DW and I finished our clothing shopping yesterday and now all that we have left to get is the shampoo, toothpaste and stuff like that.

I see that some of you have already have gotten their cruise docs. That's great. We're still waiting for ours. I hope it has good news with it. Ya see we are going to WDW for three days after our cruise and we tried to make reservations at the Boardwalk, (we're DVC members), but there weren't any rooms available there or at the Beach Club, so we took a room at Saratoga Springs. We were put on the wait list for Boardwalk and Beach Club Villas. We were told that we would find out if we got our first choice when we get our cruise docs. We've never stayed at Saratoga Springs, I'm sure its very nice, but we're so used to the Boardwalk area and its relative location to Epcot and the Disney Studios. It's also nice and quiet.

Well, wish us luck (and a little Pixy dust probably couldn’t hurt...)

Hi Coach! We are DVC owners (hence my DIS name) :rotfl: Anyway, I was able to make a 2-BR reservation at BCV (our home resort) but only for Thursday and Friday night. We tried to get Saturday night when I made the reservation in February but it was already sold out. We wanted to stay longer but no luck for us.

We are also SSR owners but have only stayed there once. I believe we were in the Congress building and our room faced Wolfgang Puck. It was very quiet and we never had any problems with the buses and it was about a 3-5 minute walk to the main pool, grocery store and restaurant but it was a pleasant walk.

Good Luck!

Hello my cruisin buddies,
I was wondering is anybody doing the Fish Extender give away on this cruise?
The kids keep asking if they are going to get to go deliver gifts to the other staterooms, so I told them I would ask?:confused3

Carol - I'd love to do FE's, but I just don't have the time to make one. Sorry!

Here's the movies playing for our cruise!
College Road Trip
Enchanted
Nationa Treasure Book of Secrets
Swing Vote
Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian
Wall-E
Miracle at St. Anna

It sounds like fun. Count us in, but I'll have to do some research on it unless someone has a good link you can post for me. I need a picture of a sample and a reminder of what you're supposed to do.

If your kids want to deliver gifts I will make sure both of our rooms have a FE. Now I just need to go learn how to sew.

So my bf and I haven't received out documents yet. We got the land/sea package through this company that is located in Houston and apparently there building was affected by the hurricane, which is awful. Especially because now most of Houston doesn't have electricity. I'm also concerned that the paperwork was suppose to go to them first, and then to us. But now with the problems I don't know what will happen to it. Has everyone received there's? Do I contact DCL? Perhaps I should wait it out.

Don't worry! Technically, you don't need ANY paperwork from a TA to get on the cruise. I'd go online, print out your boarding information and make sure it states paid in full. Then maybe call DCL just letting them know your TA is in Houston and that you wanted them to let you know that you don't have any paperwork because of Ike.

ok ok I am only a 2 time cruiser this will be number 3. What is a fish extender? Way to much to do so little time left only 17 more days!!! Anyone getting excited lol. The count down is in full gear now with packing lists going over and over and over. NEver done this before with an infant!! Eeek. So will there be a dis board meet place so we can all meet each other on this post?? Well got to get back to work to help pay for the goodies to buy !!

Regarding the FE's. I've seen instruction on how to make it with double sided tape and the one I made had very little stitching involved. I could come up with a list of families and room numbers if people wanted to participate. We enjoyed the trinkets and local stuff people exchanged on our DVC Member cruise last year.

Here is a picture of one we saw outside someones room. i don't think i even remembered to take a picture of ours. when i pull out our disney stuff this weekend i'll post a pic.

Just so I'm clear - for shore excursions and timing now - if we have first dining, dinner is at 5:45pm and the show is at 8:30pm; second dining is at 8:15pm and the show at 5:45pm...correct?

Did anyone answer this? It sounds right to me, but I want to make sure too. Also I heard that if you didn't want to watch the stage show in person, you can watch it in your room. Is it only during that time? or does it loop on a special channel? The first night I have a facial planned for 5:45 but I don't necessarily want to miss The Golden Mickeys...

Okay! I don't sew (not even a button that pops off a shirt) but I would like to participate in the fish extender. I also don't know how to make magnets. I don't have a color printer so HELP! Can we hold a how to class? I have been on two member cruises (2004 & 2006). I made a few very simple magnets but need help to do something like in the link above! Annmarie

I can't help with FE's, but CAN help with magnets!!! The DISign board is my "home" thread if you want to call it that. :teeth:
It's not hard to do - there are quite a few great designers on the DISign thread - go check out there work. Some will customize, some will not. You just ask them for a design and they will either PM or just post what you wanted. Then you rightclick and copy and paste into a Word program. You can adjust the size from there to whatever size you want your magnet to be. Some people just print on regular paper and use magnetic corners, or just print the whole design on magnetic paper. The cheaper option is the first...magnetic paper is expensive! I print on a heavy cardstock and put into a page protector and just use magnetic tape for the edges..
Does that make sense?

ETA: I don't have my cruise magnets in photobucket, but I do have my friends December shirt design for the Christmas party...this will become an iron on, but it's done the same way as the magnets.
