October 5, 2008 Wonder Cruise!

I can't help with FE's, but CAN help with magnets!!! The DISign board is my "home" thread if you want to call it that. :teeth:
It's not hard to do - there are quite a few great designers on the DISign thread - go check out there work. Some will customize, some will not. You just ask them for a design and they will either PM or just post what you wanted. Then you rightclick and copy and paste into a Word program. You can adjust the size from there to whatever size you want your magnet to be. Some people just print on regular paper and use magnetic corners, or just print the whole design on magnetic paper. The cheaper option is the first...magnetic paper is expensive! I print on a heavy cardstock and put into a page protector and just use magnetic tape for the edges..
Does that make sense?

It does. I just wish I had a color printer. Some of these look so nice and I don't want all of them to be in B&W.

annmarie,

Well it seems like you could buy the fabric and just cut it to how you like and then use that fabric glue that comes from a craft store. It would be pretty easy I think. You could just buy string and "glue" it to hold it onto the fish. I don't know how heavy the gifts are that people put in there but I think it might work.

As for the magnets, people always talk about the magnet paper, but I think it would work to just glue, or tape some of the magnet to the back instead of printing it on the paper. I'm not quite sure if that's what they were doing anyway. My printer isn't very good, nor is my editing software so I'm just going to scrapbook some stuff and put lite magnets on the back so that later I can still put it in my scrapbook.

At first I thought I could just tape it to the door, but then I read somewhere that Disney doesn't let you do that because people have ruined the doors that way.

Count us in for fish extenders. :thumbsup2 I don't sew that well either, but I'll try to figure something out this weekend - a little fabric, some tacky glue - how hard can it be :confused3. (Famous last words  ).

We're spending a week at WDW before the cruise, so we're leaving a week from tomorrow. Yikes !!:scared1: So much to do....

Makes a lot of sense. I think I may need to make a trip to Michaels of AC Moore this weekend! Maybe I can get someone else come along too (are you reading this Kate?)! Annmarie

Regarding the FE's.

I could come up with a list of families and room numbers if people wanted to participate. [/url]

Sounds like a plan to me. Can we send the info. via PM so we don't all have our kids names and ages..and room numbers.. out here on the thread?? Is that too much work?..

nope, send a list of people going, their age, gender and room number. I'll compose a list and on Oct 1 will send it to those participating. Send an email address if you would rather receive the list by email instead of PM.

Also wanted to remind all those who want green mickey's for their doors to PM me.

Regarding the no color printer post. possibly you could save the image to a memory chip (or thumb drive) and have it printed at a local office supply store (or kinkos). shouldn't cost much per magnet.

Great idea on printing at Kinkos. I never thought about that. I'd like to participate but it may take me all night to make deliveries since I'll probably be in a wheelchair for a lot of this trip but I'm not going to let that stop me! Afterall, I'm going on another Disney Cruise that DH won, our best friends who are more like family will be coming with us and we will even spend a few days at WDW after the trip. I'm sure we will have a "wonderful" time!! Annmarie

Hi Everyone!
Sorry it has been so long since I was on, but I was having computer problems. We got our boarding papers yesterday!!! My kids have been counting down the days for 2 weeks now. We are so-o excited!! I have been out of the loop lately, and this is only our 2nd cruise, so I have a couple of questions. One, are we meeting anywhere? and how do you do the thing with the doors? Do we just make the signs and put them on when we get there? I was reading threads about making them, it sounds fun. What type of things do we bring to put in people's fish extenders and how often do you do that? We have scheduled Palo's for Monday night at 6:30. Also, someone posted the movies on board. I was disappointed to not see the new Chiwawa (I know my spelling is way off) movie. It is opening Oct. 3 and last cruise the Game Plan opened while we were cruising so we got to see it on the ship. I guess that's all for now. Oh, is it safe to have your family's names hanging on the door of your room? Just wondering. Thanks lots. Can't wait to meet you all. Tammy

Hi everyone...I got great news from my doctor yesterday....My blood pressure has stabilized and we got the go ahead to go. So on Saturday bright and early the kids and I are headed to FLA!!!!:cool1:

That's great news! I am sure your kids are so-o excited! Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi Tammy,

I don't think we have decided on a meeting place yet. We are just getting started on the fish extender and magnets. Last cruise, it was just DH and I but we had our names on our doors. I don't think it's real issue but if you are concerned for safety, you could always just put your last name or initials of each person.

Great News Patty! :thumbsup2 I can't wait for this cruise either. It should be a lot of fun.

Okay! I've decided to participate in the fish extender. I don't know what mine will look like and hope it doesn't break when someone puts something in it. :lmao:

Annmarie

Apparently I have to have 3 more posts to be able to PM with my cruise information so I am just going to do it quickly. Hope this is ok.
Tammy

If the Dolphin encounter says it's full, do you all know if their is still a chance to do it once we are on the ship. Do they have cancellations on things like that? Jessica really wants to do it, but they say they are full.

Tammy

I am still curious as to what type of gifts we put in the fish extenders. Is it just like little candies or trinkets or something bigger?

You can go to the excursion desk once onboard and book. We did that with our parasailing. Also check the morning of the excursion for last minute cancellations.

it depends if it's decided to do one gift per family or daily gifts. One gift for the whole trip usually is some type of momento of the cruise or a souvenir from the givers home town.

If exchanging each day then it usually is the smaller dollar store trinkets that involve cruising or pirate theme. The Fish extender etiquette thread i posted above helps explain it.

I have heard in other peoples trip reports that some times Disney "loses" ADR's and then they have to squeeze them in. Has this ever happened to anybody? If I have my confirmation number with me when I arrive at the restaurant does this help them find the reservation better?

Sometimes they loose them. I think it's happened to me once, but they still seated us. I did have the confirmation number with me and that did help some, but normally they just ask for your name and seating time.
I do put all my confirmation numbers in my cell phone just in case though...
