October 27, 2011 ~ Dream 3 Night

Hi Everyone~
I have started to put together the FE list. For those who are new to a FE here is a bit of background.

You place a FE on the fish hanging outside your door. People who are particiapating in the exchange will drop off little gifts to each others stateroom. The gifts can be homemade, something from your hometown, or anything really. There is a lot of ideas on the DCL forum.

Please let me know if you want to be added or removed. I am missing some stateroom numbers, so when you have a moment please let me know so I can update your information :)

Love the art work, but missing the ship part... can you do a haunted ship instead of a castle?

pjpoohbear ~ I really like the sign. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but since we aren't actually going to be on the ship for halloween could it be a little less halloween-y. I agree with ppartekim about putting a ship on it too. I hope you don't mind the constructive criticism. You're probably thinking, "what a b****." I hope not though. :scared: :flower3:

To be fair, the picture does say Pre-Halloween.

And Holly & I will be on the ship for Halloween as we are doing a B2B with 10/31 cruise, and we are looking forward to what Disney does on the ship for Halloween.

These are two others that I was looking at for backgrounds,

I like this one... Seems more appropiate.. Myabe they could be pointing to a black silhouette of the Disney Dream in the moon (kinda like the flying dutchman).

Hi. We are going on our first cruise Oct 27th. A friend recommended this site to me. We are very excited. Our family includes my husband, our 4 year old daughter and myself. We are signed up for the early dining option and show afterwards. Can you give me a little info about what the roll call is and also fish extenders. It sounds like a "secret Santa" kind of thing. Look forward to meeting fellow shipmates and learning more.

Welcome Mrs Cooper and Family!

Roll Call is just a list of Dis members who are cruising with us, check out post two.

Fish Extenders came about due to a group on the very 1st Trans-atlantic or Panama cruise who wanted to share small gifts from their hometown or themed to the cruise, between each other and one of the gift was very cute hanging pockets that could hold gifts and letter/postcards etc. Each stateroom on the Disney Magic has a round fish just outside the door for DCL to leave notes, but the DIS group decided to hang the pocket from the fish, so became the "Fish Extender".

On the Dream there will be FISH, STARFISH and SEAHORSES, but we still call it a Fish Extender, lol.

Some people do small gifts of local candy, some do a homemade gift, some do a customized item, other do a disney or pirate or beach themed item. Theses can be as small as you want or I have received elaborate pkg of items. You can gift per stateroom/family, for each person in the room, or just the kids, your choice.

Welcome AlCooper3 family!!! You will love DCL. My family is hooked!!! If you are interested in the FE exchange let me know and I will add your family to the list!

I'm so glad my friend referred me to this site. I had no idea there were so many extra activities to make our vacation even more exciting. I would like to participate in the FE. What info do you need? I do not have enough posts to send a PM yet.

Your first names and stateroom # is all I need :)

I have been looking through forum posts and have a few questions. Many of the photos people have posted show people very formally dressed (what I would classify as "prom" attire). Is this just for the longer cruises? How are most people dressing for dinner on our cruise? We will not be visiting Palo or Remy. On pirate night do you wear pirate attire to dinner or change for the deck party? (Is it a deck party?) Also, if we wanted to add a day at the park, is there a discount for adding it to a cruise or would we pay the same price as at the gate addmission? We only want to go to Magic Kingdom on our disembarkment day. Any idea on ticket pricing for that?

Thanks!

When I spoke with the CM who booked our cruise I asked this question as well. I was told that there really isn't a "formal" night on the short cruises (3&4 nights), and that dressing up was totally optional. We plan to dress nice (not formal, but just like church clothes) on our Royal Palace night since that is the most formal looking of the restaurants. But we are only doing that because we want to for some nice family pictures. I was told that pretty much anything goes for dinner attire on the the short cruises except beachwear. From pictures that I have looked at on different trip reports, I would say that the majority do NOT dress formal, or even in church type clothes like we are wearing. I plan to wear dressy capris and DH will wear khakis on our other nights.

On pirate night do you wear pirate attire to dinner or change for the deck party?

You can do either. Again, from the pictures I have seen, I think a lot of people do wear their pirate stuff to dinner. However, on the 3 night cruise there will not be a pirate menu like on the 4 night so you may not want to wear it to dinner, since the meal isn't pirate themed. But I think that is really up to you and you'll be fine either way. If we dress up for pirate night, we WILL be wearing it to dinner because I don't want to waste time changing clothes.

(Is it a deck party?)

Yes.

Also, if we wanted to add a day at the park, is there a discount for adding it to a cruise or would we pay the same price as at the gate addmission? We only want to go to Magic Kingdom on our disembarkment day. Any idea on ticket pricing for that?

I don't know of any discounts like this. Maybe someone else has some info, but as far as I know, there are no ticket discounts for cruisers.

I'll be wearing nice capris (not jeans material) and short sleeve tops, DH and DS will be wearing khakis and polo shirts or short sleeve, button down, collared shirts.

A lot of people dress in pirate attire for dinner on pirate night. DS has a t-shirt with a skull and crossbones that he will wear, but that's about all my family does. Some people go all out with full on costumes. :thumbsup2

I've just moved my booking to this cruise & provided it transfers ok my son Jordan 14, my daughter Justice who will be 18 & I Kristi will be aboard this cruise. I'm super excited!!! We did this cruise last month & had a great time just too much to do in too little time. Hoping now that we know a few things we can be a little more relaxed. My fiancee wanted to go to Miami to see a friend & I said cool drop the kids & I off at the ship! So now I get a little mom & daughter time & Im sure a VERY LITTLE son time... last trip I saw my son maybe 30 minutes, lol.

I agree.

Since we fly to all cruises, extra clothes mean more luggage and more fees. So, I basically, bring only beach bum, business casual (for dinners and Palos) and pirate gear (which mixes in with the business casual). The shirts are either t-shirt (typically DCL from previous cruises) and the Golf polo shirts so they extremely light but look dressy(ish). The pants are one pair black and at least one cargo khakis (I use the pockets) and cargo shorts. Luckily, while Remy's does require a jacket, they have one you an borrow for dinner which is good cause I don't own any suits except for a Tux that is only brought on long cruises (if at all, nowadays).

I typically only wear Crocs for shoes, I even have a pair of formal black Disney Crocs (with black socks), which neither Remy's or Palo's ever mentioned or noticed (even tho, they had to give me suit Jacket - :lmao:). I even wear them with my Tux when on the Ship (would never were Crocs with a Tux anywhere else).

With this light weight gear, My wife and I can fly to a 3/4day cruise in one suitcase. Course, we would still have to bring and extra empty one just for the items we buy...

:welcome: Hi Kristi, would you like me to put you on the roll call? Glad to see another teenage boy. My DS will be almost 16 when we cruise. Did Jordan hang out at Vibe a lot on your last cruise?

Ok so I've done these boards before but never been asked about roll call. What is that? If its just adding my name to a list SURE! And I did see your son will be cruising told Jordan he wont be alone, lol. Yes he lived in the Vibe club & LOVED IT! We went on Carnival Dream in April of 2010 & well just say kids' without stuff to do will be all over acting crazy however he loved the Vibe, they had activities non stop. In fact the only problem with Vibe it was so much fun for him that my pictures look like he wasnt even with us :(.
