October 27, 2011 ~ Dream 3 Night

We had an absolutely wonderful time, but it took a lot of convincing to get my DH on this cruise. The last night he said we should go see how much it would be to book another one. :woohoo: Of course by that time it was too late though. :sad1: I just checked out the price for a 3-night in Oct 2013, thinking it would be less than what we paid since we only booked 7 months out for this one, but it was $300 more. :confused3

We went on the AquaDuck for the first time before we got off the ship at CC. OMG, it felt like they had the water pressure turned all the way up. I thought it was going to be a calm ride, but it was more like a thrill ride.

I brought back some nice cold germs and started feeling sick the morning we got off the ship. At least I wasn't sick on the cruise. :thumbsup2

Anyone else still rocking?

Hey everybody. We got back yesterday afternoon from our wonderful b2b cruises. We didn't make it to the meet on the 27th cruise & really only met ppartekim who ended up being our table mate. Hated to miss meeting everyone else, but like we all said 3 days is too short & with my mobility issues we just didn't get to do quite everything we wanted to do.

Thanks for all the wonderful FE gifts. It was so fun for Bella to come to the door and find little gifts every day. It really added to the trip. And WOW what a trip it was. This was our first real family vacation and we had such a great time. There was always so much to do and all the CM's were fabulous. We loved the experience so much we did end up rebooking a 4 night in October 2013. I will have to do alot of extreme couponing, but since we have 2 years we should be able to cover the cost.

My kids loved it- we surprised them and got them on plane and ship- they cant wait to go back (freshmand in HS and 6th grader. ) They loved all the FE gifts, so thank you so much.

WisconsinPrincess.

Hi All,

Just back this morning from our B2B, and wanted to thank everyone for the FEs. They were wonderful.

We enjoyed being back on the Dream and saw numerous changes and suggestions that were implemented (and a couple that still need work). The wait staff has improved astronomically from the MV. We can't wait now for the Fantasy MV.

I thought our wait staff was great. To be honest we only had awesome wait staff one time and that was on the Magic 2 years ago.

I would love to hear your thoughts on what has been changed and what still needs work....do you mind sharing?

On the MV, the Wait staff was 2/3rds new, 1/3rd old which led to some rotten service. That seemed to be fixed and our main Server was excellent, he was even planning how he was going to serve us the next night. We had him for both parts of this B2B, since he did so good on the first three nights, we requested him for the next four. He mentioned he will also be on the Fantasy MV, so we know who are Server will be there. :)

In the bathrooms (Men's & Women's), the paper towels are located under the Mirrors. Nice for design and keeping room clean. Bad for anyone near six foot tall. I never saw those towels until I in one bathroom there was a mirror across the room and in that mirror I saw the towels under the mirror on my side. Our suggestion (and probably many others), was to just put up a sign where the towels were. On this cruise, we noticed that the towels were labeled in every bathroom. Perfect, never missed them.

On the MV at Guest Services, there was no queue line and a conversational couch set along the wall there. We suggested a queue line where the couch set was and the following day they did just that. The couch set was moved across the atrium next to the wall between the Royal Palace and dock entry portal. On this cruise, while the couch set is still there (and also there in a the Fantasy according the pictures), the queue line was shortened and moved closer to the GS counter. Totally, understand that move as the new queue line was almost never full except on embarkation/debarkation day, during the MV I think there was about 50 people in line every hour/every day.

During the MV, we noticed that the exhaust fans in the bathroom were still screwed tightly closed. We mentioned it to the Officers (along with all the other comments), but noticed on this cruise that those fans were still screwed tightly closed. This time tho, there was a note in every room about keeping the shower door closed so the steam wouldn't set off the fire alarm. On the MV, we opened the fans on both our rooms and I opened the fans in our room during this cruise. We never had a steam problem (or a stinky number 2. :) ). We mentioned it again to all the officers, head staff, we brought observations too. So, hopefully there will be more than three cabins with open exhaust fans or we will need to cruise on the Dream a lot more times... :) :)

While watching movies in the BVT this cruise, we brought bowls of Fries, Ice cream, Beers, etc (definitely, cheaper than land theaters, :) :) ). Made the observation that they need a dirty dish drop off point. We tried to bus our seats to help but didn't have an official place to put them. We tried leaving them a the snack bar there at the BVT and the person manning the booth gave me alot of gripe about that. She would rather I carry my dishes across the ship to a proper bar or just leave them on the floor in the BVT for someone else to cleanup (talked to Officers about that too).

Mentioned to the broadcasting staff, that there they still need a channel guide or at least a quickstart help guide for the TV remote in the room. There is a tips section in the menu section of the onscreen help. But, you need to know how to use the remote to find it (catch 22). ;)

Up at Tow Mater's Grill (and the others), there were signs now stating that napkins were available upon request. Which was another comment during our MV, when we went on a quest to find them (DCL is trying to be greener, hence the ice cream cones, vs paper cups - tho, I always got a soup bowl from Cabanas.)

More when/if we think of any.

Hello everyone! We just got back last night from the most awesome vacation EVER! :woohoo: We had a fantastic time! The cruise was wonderful and our Disney World trip afterwards was the best one yet!

I wanted to thank everyone for the fantastic FE gifts! :worship: My DD had the best time checking her FE each time we would come back to the room. It was a real highlight for her! And we got some really neat and creative things! I loved all the handmade items so so much! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into them. I hope that everyone's CC sand bottles made it home in one piece. Next time, I don't think I'll make anything breakable.

We were not able to rebook before we got off the ship which I am really bummed about. We just didn't have enough time. :sad2: I was hoping to rebook the last morning before we left the ship (if that's even possible :confused3), but I got REALLY seasick that last night when we had that stormy weather. Did anyone else get sick? That boat was rocking way too much for me that night. I had been fine until then though. But anyway, I was so sick that I just wanted to get off that boat as quickly as possible. And yes, it took me about two days to stop feeling like I was rocking after we got off. But it was all worth it! So much fun!

I really loved the Dream and CC was the ultimate paradise for sure! I did think the pools were WAY too small for the number of people and were basically useless to us because all you could really do was just try to float upright in one spot as not to bump anyone. We also encountered quite a few rude passengers that would just mow us down if we were in their way. I'm hoping all that was just because we were in tight quarters on the ship, but still, it was annoying. We also had a sewage smell in our bathroom the whole time. Did anyone else have this?

Other than those minor complaints, we had a blast and would love to sail again with DCL someday!

I know DS and I get seasick so we started taking Bonine the night before we got on the ship and every night after that. I still felt a little queasy late Saturday night (DS and DH were fine), but after I went to bed I was fine. Did you take anything? For future reference, the medical center has something similar to Bonine, they give away for free.

I caught something on the ship and started feeling sick Sunday morning when we got off. I think it's turned into a URI.

Sorry about the sewage smell. What room were you in? Somone on the DIS said it helps to pour a few cups of water down the drain in the floor and if that doesn't work, cover it with a towel. We have luckily never had this problem, but I have heard about it. Did they do anything about it?

We didn't have time to rebook either. :sad1: I didn't even think I'd be able to talk DH into it, but by the last night (when it was too late) he said we sould see how much it would cost to book another one.

I actually had some Bonine with me but hadn't needed it yet during the cruise so I packed it up with my luggage the night before we departed and and sat it out in the hall. Of'course that was the very time that I needed it. I wish I had known they had it there on the ship for free. :sad2:

We never said anything about the sewage smell b/c we were just too busy to mess with it or we forgot about it while we were gone during the day. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was pretty smelly in the bathroom. (We were on the 2nd floor all the way forward)

Sorry you got sick. I was worried about that happening in such close quarters, but thankfully we didn't catch anything. I saw plenty of people sneezing and coughing though.

Welcome back!!!!!

I got sick the last night too. The boat was really rocking! It took me until Thursday to stop feeling like I was still on the ship. I was going to rebook, but by the time I could get up it was closed :(.

I think we might book a Mexican Rivera cruise next. Never been to California or that side of Mexico!

I am at lost for words.:rolleyes1 We had such a good time, but we missed so much. Didn't even think of re-booking on board. Never played mini golf. Our still camera that we took about a hundred photo's with didn't work, I think the card wasn't mounted correctly. All those award winning photos were the best ever - in my mind at least. My daughters little point and click caught some great pictures and some very interesting angles and perspectives so we are ok. :grouphug: I wish I could have spent more time picking the minds of some you cruise veterans, but then I would have missed... Weirdest of all the engineer geek in me never watched us dock or depart from a good vantage point. Oh well I guess I will have to find a way back onto a Disney ship!

Did anyone else catch something on this cruise? I felt like I was getting sick the day we disembarked and have been sick ever since. I finally went to urgent care last week and they gave me antibiotics and prednisone for bronchitis. I'm still not feeling any better and wondering how long this is going to last.

Just wondering if anyone else got sick...

Hello to anyone who i still following this thread!

I have a question - did you have a Halloween celebration onboard? If so, what night was it?

DCL has announced a Halloween celebration on our cruise next week (10/25) but been silent about when it is! This leaves us all trying to plan around an unknown schedule!

Thanks!

No, they didn't do anything at all for Halloween on this cruise.

There was nothing on this cruise as it ended before Halloween. We did a B2B with the next one and Halloween was celebrated on the 31st.

DCL held two parties, one in the early evening for the Familes and kids in the atrium (raining outside, inside was better with AC). The second was held around 10pm for the Adults.

Both had costume contests and the kids had some sort of trick/treat- I think. Either way, it was a great time and I think I had a better time on the ship than at MNSSHP (not counting the rides of course).
