October 27, 2011 ~ Dream 3 Night

:flower1: Happy Good Earth FriDay to you too!

Long time board browser but never posted. This will be my families first cruise, time to figure these boards out! We will be on deck 7. "Codes" are new to me, but I guess I will traveling with my DW, DS, and DD. I am full of expectations, but have no I idea what to expect. Being a "planner" I can't wait to experience something I can't over plan:scared1: What are fish extenders and do I need one? My DD loves magnets right know, should I get some ready for our door?

:welcome: I'm glad to see more people joining. If you can't figure out any of the codes just ask. I put together a roll call in post #2. If you want your info there let me know.

This is a fish extender

notice it's hanging on a fish

Some people on cruise meets threads organize a fish extender exchange. Anyone who wants to participate buys or makes those hanging pocket things. Then you put little inexpensive gifts in other people's FE's during the cruise. I've been on 3 Disney cruises, but have never participated in one. Right now we have a few interested people, but no one has volunteered to organize it yet.

I am really into making magnets for our door though. I don't have any done for this cruise yet, but I have some graphics saved and some ideas.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions. We're more than happy to help. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if anyone here can answer this or not, but since this cruise isn't actually happening during Halloween, I am wondering if there will be any Halloween activities going on? I know the Dream hasn't sailed at Halloween yet, so there really isn't any past experience to go by either. I'd love to know if anyone has any info on this though. TIA

I did the Magic for 2007 and the activities were just for that one cruise, but I did see that in 2010 they offered the pre-order special baskets and had activities on several October cruises on both the Wonder and the Magic.

Hey, where is everyone? This is a really slow cruise meet thread. I'm not used to that. The last one I joined, everyone talked so much it was hard to keep up. ;) I hope my fellow cruisers start posting more.

Also, please check the roll call in post 2 to make sure I have your info correct/there. Let me know if I need to add or change anything. Thanks.

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Sorry, haven't posted in a while! Not only have I been busy planning our first Disney cruise (and my first cruise ever!), but I am also in the middle of planning our Disney Fairytale Wedding that will take place a few days before we set sail! I am slightly stressed, but super excited! I will try to post more often!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Further info for the roll call.

I am Clancy, DW is Amie, DD (5) is Taylor, and DD (2) is Shawnessy.

This will be our first Disney Cruise. I went twice way back when Disney worked with Premier but that was back in the 90s. I just introduced DW to cruising last year with a 4 day down to Cozumel and then we decided to include a Disney cruise in our vacation this year.

I updated your info.

You will love Disney Cruises! We got hooked with a 3-night on the Wonder in 2001. It was absolutely the best vacation. We couldn't believe how fast it went by and how sad we were to get off the ship. We then went on the 7-nt eastern Magic in 2004 and 7-nt western Magic in 2008.

I'm so excited to sail on the Dream. People keep posting how amazing the ship is. It sounds like, other than embarkation, all the kinks have been worked out too.

Hey guys, just jumping on the thread. We had this one booked for some time now, but were over on the 10/23/11 thread. This will be the second cruise of our B2B.

It will be me (Jeff), DW (Suz), and DS11. We have early dining.

If there is an FE exchange planned, count us in. Not sure if one has been set up or not.

Unfortunately, due to DS's change in school schedules, we are no longer going on this cruise! Hope everyone has a wonderful time!!!!

Ok this is a little old school but we have good walkie-talkies (two way radio's). This have been useful as recently as last year staying at the Paradise Pier and touring the Disneyland Parks.

Are they allowed to be used on a cruise ship?

Are the two cordless phones in the room enough for a family of four on a cruise?

Sorry I know this is a slow thread, but this is our first cruise (and my first active posting foray). Any advice would be appreciated.

I booked through DVC with points, this was the first cruise DVC had available in 2011 when I called. I wonder if there are a lot of us first timers on this cruise, therefore the slow thread?

Welcome!

The 2 ways are allowed, but with all the metal on the ships, not overly useful.

Generally the shorter cruises are much slower on the meet threads. I did see that several DVC members had a very hard time finding cruises for the summer/fall of 2011. Our final portion of this cruise set is also on DVC points.
