October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Look what i found!

CELEBRATION, Fla. – An exciting collection of enhancements awaits the Disney Magic as the ship heads into dry dock Sept. 6-24, 2008. The 2,700 passenger cruise ship will undergo a series of upgrades for guests of all ages.

Here is a glimpse at what’s in store:

Indulgence and Relaxation
Quiet Cove, the serene pool retreat reserved for the enjoyment of adults, will undergo a makeover including upgrades to Cove Café, the pool and the deck area. Cove Café, the ship’s sophisticated coffee lounge, will incorporate a new seating area with plush, comfortable chairs providing the perfect venue to relax while sipping a cup of gourmet coffee. Meanwhile, the adult pool will be outfitted with soothing, cascading waterfalls from the two hot tubs. Teak deck and lounge chairs with plush cushions will line the pool, creating an inviting, stylish ambiance in line with the Vista Spa and Salon.

Fun for the Little Ones
The Oceaneer Club, a Neverland-themed play space for 3-7 year olds, and the Oceaneer Lab, a whacky and interactive laboratory exclusively for 8-12 year olds, will be enhanced with new registration areas that make the check-in process more efficient and hassle-free. This sets the stage for incorporating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the youth activity areas later this year, which will further enhance and streamline the check-in process. The technology uses RFID tags embedded on wristbands, allowing children to simply tap a sensor to check in and out of the clubs.
Even the youngest cruisers will have a splashtacular time in “Mickey’s Splash Zone,” a new toddler water playground inspired by Fantasia’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice. This 385-square-foot extension to the Mickey Pool on deck 9 will feature star- and moon-shaped interactive fountains, a soft play surface and whimsical splash zones; creating an inviting environment for children not yet toilet trained and in swim diapers.

New Conveniences
The guest staterooms onboard the Disney Magic are receiving an infusion of technology with the installation of flat-screen LCD television sets. The new 22-inch units will be mounted on a swivel arm to allow easy viewing from multiple locations within the stateroom.

I am going to be needing more friends on this ship that I originally thought... :sad2: when I read this to DH last night - he told me he was never leaving the room... :sad1:

On the other hand...  hmmm.... :woohoo: :yay: :cool1: :thumbsup2

I am excited about the extra storage space that not having a TV in that spot will provide.... :cool1: I get to bring more stuff!!!!!! :cool1:

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

I think I am getting the hang of this; never used a forum before, and am using a "user-friendly" Mac computer, but still...

If my attempt at a signature works, you'll see my various trips to Disney; I didn't get to Disneyland until I was 35 and attended an event night while at a nursing conference.

I'm single and am usually accompanied by various combinations of my sister and/or her four kids.

Too bad I missed the cut-off for the fish extenders exchange, but...there's always another Disney cruise in the future, right?

Ok, here goes, let's see if I can post...

Sarah - we're in room 2106 (unless whatever Shoshie is hinting about gives us an upgrade !:worship: . There's me, DH - Brian, DS11 - Alex and DS9 - Adam.

And obviously - considering I'm the one that suggested another split - I prefer option #1. :)

Dana - hope the work situation sorts itself out. This won't interfere with your vacation plans though, will it ??? :scared:

See you all in chat tomorrow night! Can't wait to see what Shoshie is teasing us with!

Valerie

Hey Everybody,

I have finally quit my whining and broke down and started a photobucket account.... :confused3 When in Rome...

So anyway... now I can show you what dh and I look like (make sure you have already digested your dinner ;) ), cause the avatar pic is kinda tiny.

AND!!! you will know who to run away from on the cruise.... :rotfl2:

oh! and because they are so damn cute.... these are my siblings (we had these pics done for Fathers Day) Someday I will take them to either WDW or DCL for some fun sans parents and with their cool older sister... :goodvibes

From left to right is my "little" brother Robert (just started college :teacher: yesterday sniff sniff), the little guy is Nicholas pirate: , he is 10, and the little witch (who is exactly like her witch of a sister) is Katherine :cheer2: , she is 14.

Jenn- I love your pictures! What a wonderful idea to do them for Father's day, you all look great with the matching outfits/colors and the backgrounds are beautiful..wonderful weather and everything so green!

Dana- I know exactly what you are going through even though I am not in the health care business, I was recently asked to change positions to clean things up you could say..and the previous person in that position now reports to me. A very difficult challenge. Just know that they must think very highly of you and you are very valued employee to have them ask this of you. It was hard for me to leave my comfort zone and the others I worked with but I had to think long term and what was best for my career. It has been a few months and things are going well. Just think it out and do not just do it for the money either (even though it is tempting), I know you will make the right choice.

Sarah- I also agree with option 1.

Aunt Lynne- Welcome to our group!

WOW Jenn, those photos are stunning! What a beautiful location and you all look amazing! Where were those photographs taken - it could almost be Wales, although on second thoughts it's not raining so maybe not!

Aunt lynne- I also noticed in your first post, you wrote Costa maya..you know we are not stopping there right? I am only asking because I booked over a year ago and have not recieved anything telling me that, the only reason I found out was because of the dis..:disrocks: to tell the truth not sure I would even still know as my TA has not even mentioned it to me.:confused3

Thank you! They were taken at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI - in the good ole' US of A!!! Although, my step-mother did comment that she liked the bridge one because it looked like we were in Europe!

Oh! and I would not know about Costa Maya vs. Grand Cayman either if it had not been for the Dis.... TA still has not mentioned it to us! So I have to echo that :disrocks:

Alrighty... I am here at work... hardly working... or is it working hard??? ;)

Hmmm... I will figure that one out later...:scratchin

Anyway, i made up the postcards for our photo shoot.... I am going to post them here (me and my new photobucket account - watch out ... :car: :lmao: )

I tried to make them look like a real post card that would be mailed... complete with a return address and a "stamp"... on the side with the logo, we will be able to write in the date/time and the location once we get onboard and know it....

I am open to constructive criticism so ...

I can't remember... Is there any chance we can have this scheduled prior to boarding? It would be great if I could just print them all up completed.... ya' know???

Now that I have them done, I am not so worried... So I will wait to print them up until we hear something about scheduling....

Valerie has been trying to get a pre determined time for ages it seams with no luck....yes it would be nice. but with enough helpers we should be good for example: 100 postcards, 10 helpers with 10 cards a piece.... <<<<i HAD to do that! seeing how it creeps ya out hehehehe:goodvibes

(maybe it is my perverted mind in overdrive) after all, A perverted mind IS a TERRIBLE thing to waste!

HI

We have exactly 36 cabins signed up for the FE exchange. Now we need to decide on how many cabins we would like in each group (and how much walking we would like to do!).

Option One: 3 groups of 12 cabins
Option Two: 2 groups of 18 cabins

So can you give me your preferred option over the next couple of days, either by posting or sending a PM. ( I would try and do a poll here but I can't work our how to do that!)

I will try and sort the cabins out according to decks but there are still a few who have not been allocated a cabin number and so I will just have to split the non-allocated cabins up amongst the other groups.

Thanks

I would prefer three groups. Thanks!

Yes, I am trying to arrange the photo op. Actually, just e-mailed Disney asking them if we could set this up ahead of time, and will let you all know what I find out. Here is the list of people who said they were interested, but I really thought it was a longer list!

NewfieMom (4 people) Cabin 2106 - volunteering!
Shosie (2) 2086 - volunteering!
Disney4Dana (4) 7606 - volunteering!
Suziemva (6) 6130 & 6131 - volunteering!
TotallyAngelic (6) -?? - volunteering!
JNS (4) 2518 - volunteering!
Michellebriana (4) 6540
Mommy2777 (4) ?? - voluntold!
CurlyKate (4) ?? - volunteered!
jenn&nelsonrego (2)
Midwest Cruisers (4) ??

Now...if you didn't sign up (yet - or ever), it doesn't mean that you can't get in on the pic. The request was to see if there was enough interest. Once we get the date/time/place, the volunteers will deliver those AWESOME notes that Jenn has done up to everyone on our dis meet who's cabin number we have. Whoever wants to be in the pic can then show up. If Shutters is going to charge us, or can't do it, we have at least two dissers who can take the pic - Amy and, and, and....okay, can't remember the 2nd person (sorry!). But they'll take pics anyway, in addition to the Shutters pic. I think at this point, we're hoping for a formal night, pirate night, or Halloween night group picture.

IF we can't get the info ahead of time, my job once I board is to go to Shutters and make the arrangements - if at all possible. Then the volunteers will get together, fill out the cards, and deliver them.

So you can still sign up - the better idea we have of numbers, the better we can pick a location.

52 MORE SLEEPS TO CRUISE DAY!!!!
