Lindy Loo (or any of our other UK DISers),

I was wondering, is October a big travel month for the UK? There were a lot of people with British accents everywhere we went this weekend while in FL (not just WDW).

Is there a major break for the schools?

Just curious.

Thanks,

Jeff

All schools over here have one week in october (mine go back tommorow) and by law you can take kids out of school for 2 weeks a year so if your looking to aviod the english (don't worry we have thick skin)you need to take the first week of the month.... :rolleyes1

Had no and have no problems with the "english". While we were at Disney's Vero Beach, one British lady said to avoid the French. They are very rude. She was referring to the workers in Disneyland Paris. Now the French don't need to get upset with me, I'm just the messenger. Besides, by last name is actually French, but I'm mostly German and Belgiun (sp?), several generations removed, of course.

We use to go the first week/weekend in October and everything was really quiet. This time there were a lot of people and many of them had British accents (not that they were from England, just the UK).

They were all polite.

Thanks for the answer.

Jeff

OK, who left the cold virus on my computer?

I've been hacking and sneezing since we got home Saturday afternoon and today at work has been just awful (I'm sure it has nothing to do with not being on vacation right now... ;) ).

Did I tell you guys that I got to meet Lindy Loo Hoo last week? She and her husband were so nice - we can't wait to see them next October! :goodvibes

Hi everyone, im back :teeth:

We are exhausted, after 3 weeks of "hard work" ................. ie parks, and more parks, with a 4 night cruise in the middle !

Brenda, it was lovely to meet you and Jason, and have a couple of drinks and a natter ( chat, in case "natter" is a UK word! :lmao: ) at the Grand Floridian.

Yes, as previously explained, Oct is a great month for UK families to go to Florida, as its beautiful weather, cheaper ( just) to fly than July or August, and I guess we all like the Halloween parties etc too. :cool1:

I am on my 5th load of washing, so a trip report will be coming soon. Elouise goes back to school Thurs, so I might get started then. Im no whiz putting on pictures etc, so bear with me. ( im not funny or anything, but I will try and share our thoughts and experiences)

One thing we all know.............. WE LOVE CRUISING AND CANT WAIT FOR NEXT YEARS 7 NIGHT ONE :thumbsup2

Take care all............... Lindy Loo xx

how old is Elouise?

Nancy - my dear...it was Paul that created the Yahoo Groups site for our sailing. Tell ya a secret...it's pretty easy to build one. If you want - I'll be happy to do this for ya...jus let me know - it would be my pleasure. How is Chuck...please tell him I said HI

Also..hope this finds Jo - Danny doing well...my best to you all!!!

To the rest of you fine folks...I'll now return you to your regular Cruise Thread.

Hey Kevin, nice to hear from you again. One of the DISers on this thread (Chris from the UK) is doing back-to-back cruises next October. I'm not sure if he will be on your cruise then ours or if our's is first and then the week after. Don't you think Nan and the girls would like back-to-backs with us too? ;)

How was your cruise with Nan last month? Post pictures please!! :woohoo:

Later friend,
Nancy :wave2:

Hi everyone

Welcome home Lindy Loo  - clear your pm box - its full! - couldnt reply, but Ellis would love that button - thank you sooo much. Cant wait to hear about your trip.lots of photos please!

Cheryl - welcome!

Welcome back Jeff and co  - so you're one of the lucky ones with a "not so secret" porthole! - we tried but they were all gone. In the end we chose the cheap option and went for a cat 11. I'll just have to learn to pretend we have a veranda :lmao:

Another reason us english go in October is cos its much cheaper! - its almost half price compared to going in July and Aug, its much quieter in the parks, and with the half term from school the kids dont miss as much time off.

bye for now :wave2:

Welcome home Lindy loo and Jeff hope you had a great jolly...

ps....Bought afew more $'s today as the rates are good but i have to say i hav'nt given up hope of seeing $2 for my pound at some point before we cruise next year...and IF it does break $2 we should see $2.30 VERY quickly with any luck.... :rolleyes1

Don't wish too hard for the $2 or $2.30 to 1. As long as the dollar is doing poorly, DCL will not build that next ship.

We want that down to 1 to 1 if possible. I want a new ship!

Karen,

You'll be the first person I PM if we decide not to cruise next October. You can coordinate when we drop it so that you can pick it up.

But, if I have anything to say about it, we will be going with all of you next year.

Jeff

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

I would like to say that I thought you all were my friend. I sit here now on Halloween and I haven't been boo'd once. :guilty:

Just for that, you'll have to wait for a trip report for last week. :snooty:

I hope you guys had a great trip - we kept an eye out for you guys in the hopes that we would run into each other, but I guess it wasn't in the cards.

And speaking of cards...woo hoo!! :teeth:

Hell if the pound was to drop one for one you'd never see a brit in the states again... :rotfl2:

Thats so true.................. :thumbsup2

I wont worry tooo much about the 3rd ship not getting done, we had a couple of conversations on board and in a park with CMs, who siad its already unnder construction, but very hush hush. The biggest measure for me, thinking this is true, is when we were at the GF, getting our Photopass put on to Cd ( 335 photos!!! not bad we thought! :rotfl: ) the photogragher there said how may pictures we had, I said it would have been a whole lot more if the Wonder had the photopass syste. He smiled and said though this would be the last area to expand, after California, and Tokyo (sp ?) it would happen sooner on the 3rd ship. I pretended not to know, and he hinted that alot of photographer were hoping to apply to the new ship late next year.

The biggest let down on the cruise for me, was no photopass. The shutters pictures got moved and poorly handled all the time, it was like a zoo in there. They couldnt or wouldnt make the formal pictures with minnie and Mickeys smaller ( 8 x 10 didnt fit in the frame I wanted to use) I budgeted to spend about $300, but didnt spend a thing in the end. My biggest tip is use your own camera, we did, and the photos came out just as good, we added our own boarders etc and printed them off for a few cents, in what ever size we wanted.

Happy Halloween everyone :maleficen :hmghost:
