England turned "metric" years ago, but my parents still use feet and inches and lbs and stones etc. I use metric when I am measuring anything with my son eg how many centimetres etc but when I measure my height I'm 5'3" - there - now you all know I'm a short fattie:rotfl2:

You'll find most of my generation still use both. Its only recently that I started using centigrade instead of fareinheight (sp) for temperatures too. We're a wierd bunch in England - as you can tell we adopt change slowly - only 2 generations so far and its still not happened:lmao: :lmao:

We also still call it a pound of sugar etc even though the bag is 2 kilos or whatever it is:confused3

Its a real mismatch and it depnds on who you talk to as to what they use. At my gym they ask you what you want to be weighed in - I opt for stones cos tha "9" seems a lot less than "100 and something":rolleyes1

RIGHT...OFF TO ANSWER THE NEXT QUESTION.

They tried teach us the metric system back in the 70's. They told us that the whole world was switching to it and we would be also. Yeah right, that was 30 years ago and now they don't even teach it. I still can do some of the conversions however.

Your bacon is different to ours - I personally like the way americans cook it "crispy" but a lot of english people like it limp and pink - ewk! Your bacon is also more streaky with fat where as ours is leaner.

I wish they would make the bacon crispy. It seems every time it is on the buffet, it seems to be the "English" way, undercooked and limp.

If we are ordering off a menu at breakfast (i.e. the character breakfast, in Lumieres, or the last day) I ask to get the bacon extra crispy.

Ok, next one,.....buttie is our word for sandwich - just 2 slices with whatever between. We dont have your kind of biscuits in England that you have with brekkie - sorry - breakfast - gosh, you wouldnt think we spoke the same language! The nearest we have would be a scone but that would have jam and cream on it and not go with bacon.

Do you have BLT's over there?

That would be Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato on toast. Some put mayo on it.

Very good with crispy bacon and ripe tomatoes.

All this talk about breakfast make me want to have breakfast food for dinner tonight.

Maybe we'll go out for breakfast after church tomorrow.

So what's everyone doing today? I took DS sledding. He had a blast. The hill was a little icey (sp?) so it was quick.

They had a little jump built out of the snow and it took forever to get DS lined up with it, but when I did, he flew about 2 to 3 feet off the ground.

He held on and loved it. Many kids were letting go and landing hard on the ground.

And yes, I did brave the hill a few times myself.

We requested the early rotation this cruise. We had the late rotation the last 2 cruises we went on and you seem to lose so much of the night. By the time we finished Dinner on Pirate night the kids had missed the entire show. Chocolate feast night we were still too full to eat any and that is one night I look forward to each cruise. So we decided that we are going to do the early seating.

My son was also too tired to enjoy the dinner with the late seating. The age differences between our children, 7 years, makes doing things ometimes difficult. The nie thing is that we travel with my parents and they tend to poop out early and they will take hime back to their room to sleep or rest.

We'll see how we like it then we'll know for the next time

Got to go get ready for dinner now, my DH and I are going out without the kids to our favorite Pizza Place, Di Marini's in Muskego. We love their sauce

See ya
Judy:cheer2:

O.K., here is what all you repeat cruisers are looking for - the Castaway Club gift.

Here is a picture of the whole gift:

I will post individual close ups and tell what was included.

They also gave each CC member a lanyard with 2 pins (yes, this is per person, not room, so we go 6 pins). Here is the pic of the pin (sorry it is a little blurry - don't know why I couldn't get this one clear):

Here is a close up of the main bag (this is all we saw when we first came in the room):

In addition to the main canvas bag, there were two mesh bags (one was a back pack type).

The red one is the back pack.

They gave you sunscreen, 2 CC Club wristbands, a notebook and 2 cups with covers and straws.

Jeff - now the ship's photographer only takes pictues at the CB with Mickey? Sheesh! What in the world is going on with DCL? Did they cut back on photographers?

It's enough to make this girl head for the Cove Cafe, a chocolate chip muffin, and an iced mocha before taking a nap in the Rainforest.

The Castaway Club gift looks pretty cool (hope that stays in place for us in October).

Jeff- Thanks for posting those pics! It looks great to me! My family doesn't know about this, so it will be a 'magical' surprise......

As for "fanny pack"...I knew there was a reason I hated those things!:lmao: Actually I have a friend from Ireland, who once went nuts when she heard another friend talk about a fanny pack. On the other hand, my eyes got as big as silver dollars when she called her cigarette a "***." I guess you could say I almost "went potty" when she said that.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hope you are all having a great weekend!:)

Off to research travel insurance..........:surfweb:

I could've tried to be Mrs. Page ( ) last night myself. I was up until 4:00 am on this computer trying to figure out some software that I just bought. :scared1: I finally popped a sleeping pill and slept until 7:30 am. :cat: I went right back to the computer and within 15 minutes I had it perfected!! Geeez, I guess my mind must have been mush last night (or should I say, this morning).

I have to give Jeff and Karen kudos for being able to fill up a page on their own. :cheer2: With this thread we have people posting around the clock because of our time differences and I must admit you two are quite diligent.
Diligent or bored...I don't know, you pick!

O.K. here is another picture from the cruise. I advise everyone to always carry their camera with them. When I was up on deck 9 the morning of this picture, I looked towards the front of the ship and the rainbow was actually right in front of us and huge. The colors were much brighter and it came right ino the water. It was very cool. So I run down to our room (deck 2). By the time I got back up this is the best I could get.

Count us in:banana:

I dont get why you have a magnet though:confused3 If you get a prezzie then you know it'll be off a disser. Is there usually a $ budget per general gift? Gonna have to start thinking of something small to pack if I need about 20:eek: Geez, something else to add to the list:rotfl: QUOTE]

Karen - the Magnet is the tag which sticks to your cabin door, which you sign and then 'tag' the next door, oh and leave your prezzie, of course.

Count us in as well - it was great fun in September. We had fish extenders for prezzies. Some kind Disser made them as a gift for us all. They are material pockets that hang from the fish door sign outside your stateroom.

Heather

Heather, just wondering...do you have picture of the "fish extenders"??
