October 20th 2007 Western Magic Part 9

who havnt we heard from since returning?
lurking lynn? you still lurking?
wine diva? you out there?
stcruisers? you embarrased to show after your bball no show?
team fancy pants? still wearing that pink shirt jesse?

Mike I noticed in your signature that you have been to WDW over Christmas a few times. What are the crowds like leading up to Christmas? We are thinking of going Dec. 20-27, 2008. I have read that Christmas Day at the MK is extremely crowded but how are the other parks and how about the days before Christmas. We are used to going when it is crowded in June when school lets out but I am wondering if this would be just a little worse than that or a lot worse.

Hey Robin,
I told my mom that I am thinking of parasailing next year. Well with her extreme fear of heights she made me promise that I wouldn't go. Of course what happens on the boat stays on the boat.

thats what i thought but it doesnt work out that way. right sweet tart??

Nancy, so January is the best time to switch the cruise over to AAA? You get more onboard credits doing it than than in other months? It will be hard to give up the control but I will turn our next cruise over to AAA to get the extra onboard credits too. I hope I remember what "safe place" I put your AAA travel agents name and number in, otherwise I might need to get it from you again.

Good morning Karen

All six of us are seriously thinking of the Double Dip in Oct 09. The deposits have been placed and we are waiting for the new dates to come out. After we switch our dates, I'll transfer my ressie over to AAA (American Automobile Association) in January when they run their specials for onboard credits. Hopefully, I'll have another $350.00 credit. ($200/onboard booking and $150/AAA).

I'll also transfer some Rewards points over like Jeff did. We over-tipped our waitstaff and stateroom hostess because they were fantastic! I did have the cash put to the side but I think if I just used my credits, it wouldn't take away from my cash flow.

And, we are also placing a claim on Jeff and Suz. We want personal tour guides next time. After I saw all your pics, I think we really missed out on a lot.

Note to all: DO NOT do the Dune Buggy/Snorkel/Beach Party Excursion in Cozumel (if we go back that way). It was expensive, too time consuming, and just horrible!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this cruise will happen for us. I need a new car soon and Kristin and Jesse might be planning a wedding by then. Those two events will use up any extra cash we have on hand for vacations.

Gotta go buy those lotto tickets now. Talk to you soon..............

we are planning on being there in christmas 08 also.:thumbsup2
the times we went before were like this. the week before christmas wasnt bad at all. the day or 2 before got crowded. then christmas day is like body to body. they ended up stopping guests from coming in it was so crowded.
but for us it is still a great day. we didnt care about riding the rides. we just like being in the park that day. just relax and enjoy.:santa:
the days after xmas were crowded also but we always used to go in the summer as well, so the crowds dont bother us.:wizard:

Butting in here....I was reading on the DVC board that on Christmas day some people like to resort hop to check out the decorations. I thought that was a good alternative to the crowds for at least part of the day. :goodvibes

This is us waiting in line to get off the ship.

Do you think we partied too much? :rotfl2:
We must be getting too old for that life. ;)

I've been on since we returned--just haven't posted the last few days. Hard to read about your parasailing joys as our parasailing at 2:30 got cancelled. In fact, we had 3 different excursions on 3 different days get cancelled. We had to work really hard not to get discouraged. With some of the money we saved I bought a bottle of Fairy Tale Cuvee on Sem-Formal night. ;)

Thanks for the info Mike! We could have a Christmas meet :thumbsup2
We are used to the crowds too so I'm not all that concerned about that for us but I am planning on asking my sister and brother-in-law to join us and I'm not sure what they'll say because of the potential crowds. They have been wanting to go with us for years but because we have been going in June, because of Rachel's school schedule, they haven't wanted to go because they live on a lake in northern WI and don't want to be away from home when the weather is nice here. I'm not sure if my sister would even be able to get off of work but I plan on at least asking them and we'll take it from there. We have been to WDW in early and mid Dec. already and I LOVE all the decorations at the parks and resorts. If nothing else we could check out all the resort decorations on Christmas day if they want to avoid crowds.

we got the dolphin encounter cancelled. robin was a little bummed out about that.( i think she spent that money on jewelery instead.:scared1: )
dont be discouraged.... theres always KK2:grouphug:

Paige great minds think alike :rotfl: I just posted the same thing about resort hopping. Are you planning on Christmas at WDW too? When?
I've been checking on recommendations for Christmas on the DVC board too!

Christmas 08...but my kids don't know yet. I may not tell them until the last minute, so please let Rachel know to keep it under her hat with Emily. :goodvibes (although I may have already said something to Emily, but I can't remember to save my life!)

Is it the case of going fast or you don't want to hit a cow. :rotfl:

reminds me of when we bought our house in the country years ago.
i was raised a city boy. robin a country girl.
the first time my parents came out to see our new home there was a cattle crossing and my dad had to wait a while while the cows crossed the road.
ill never forget when they made it to the house and him saying" where the heck are you living?":rotfl2: :lmao:

Well Rob and I talked it over and we MIGHT be joining you guys for KK2.

There's a lot of ifs for it work out... and our little pincess would not be joining us this time.

I just wish DCL had a better policy for their rebooking discount as we did not rebook onboard since we really didn't think we would be back for awhile. :guilty:

It would be great if you could join us!

I can understand about not bringing Kira - I/we attempted a couple of trips when Thomas was very young (7 months, 1 1/2 years, 2 1/2 years). To be honest, now that he's 4 1/2, this was the first trip that felt like a VACATION, instead of the "daily routine" in another place.

I suppose now we should all join the 2009 dates thread on the DCL board.... :scared1:

Victoria that's awful  3 excursions cancelled on you  Part of me wishes our 2:00 banana boat ride that went out at about 2:30 (they were running behind) had been cancelled. I rode in the front and when we got out in the open water I got all the ocean spray in my face and I think I drank half the ocean too :lmao: , especially on the way back when we were going into the wind and the waves, aside from that it was alot of fun though. I hadn't even realized they cancelled the para-sailing  Now you just have to go again to get all those missed excursions in!
