Hi, y'all. Well, Rob and I knuckled under and bought Emily a cell phone. Her birthday is May 21 (she'll be 14) and she starts high school in the Fall. The "rule" with us is you get a cell phone in high school. Well, since her birthday is at the very end of 8th grade, we thought we'd fudge it and let her have one when school lets out. It just so happens, our contract is coming up for renewal so there are many "special offers," so we just bit the bullet and let her have one. She is flying so high right now. She is the last of ALL of her friends to get a cell phone. I just don't see the real need for it and I can't stand to see kids "texting" all the time. Needless to say, she'll be paying for any texting that goes on, and no texting will be done while she is engaged in something with us, i.e., conversation, game, TV, etc. I know, I know, I'm big talk!

I wish I could skip the teen years!! I know I have said that before. That whole saying about going around with your heart on the OUTSIDE of your chest is so true.

Ok, off to Opening Day of softball season. If I remember my camera, I'll post a pic of my little softballer.

Hope you are all having a great April Fools' Day!!:joker:

Brenda, Just finished HP and the Order of the Phoenix, starting the Half Blood Prince tonight!:)
My BF wants to start watching the movies (doesn't want to do all that reading) so I went over to his house today and we watched HP and The Sorcerer's Stone. It had been many years since I saw it so it was fun watching it again. I might have seen the second one but I know I've never watched the 3rd, or 4th and the 5th is coming out sometime this year, which is perfect since I just finished reading that book.

Good for you! Actually the 5th movie is being released in July two weeks before the book. July is going to be such a great HP month this year!

Hope you enjoy HBP - it's a great read!

Evening Brenda.

Are you getting excited for Baseball season?

Ours starts tomorrow, but I have faith that it will be terrrible. :sad2:

Sure, I show up and everyone disappears.

I'm starting to feel that no one wants to talk to me.

With this post, I'm only 4 away from 700 on this thread, so maybe I'll just put 4 more up and then leave you.

I have 768 on the repo thread, but haven't posted there in seveal days. Maybe I'll try to get to that level. That's only about 5 full pages. :scared1:

So, for all you US Konked Kruisers, when do you have spring/Easter break?

Is it the week before or the week after Easter? Or did you have a week in March and nothing next weekend?

Only one more to go.

DS is off this Friday and the following week. Almost had a problem with daycare for that time.

We wanted to put him in one of the local Park & Rec programs, but they only had openings on the two Fridays. We took those (Mad Science - rockets and space - and the Zoo). Two of the other days (Mon & Tues) we have him in the YMCA camp. I'll stay home with him on the other 2 days.

O.K. This is post 700 for me on this board.

Since no one wants to talk, I'll sign off now. Maybe I'll come back tomorrow.

Our home opener is on ESPN2 right now against the Mets. It was really cool to see all the pre-game festivities and the raising of the World Championship Pennant - but the old evening game ESPN curse is still in place and the Mets are winning 5-1.

Oh well, can't win 'em all.

I was trying not to watch the DCL special on the travel channel tonight...makes me sad. :sad1:

Sorry to hear about the Cards' game.

I had the DCL thing on in hopes to get Suz to change her mind. DS was getting excited over it. But then I could talk to him about Legoland and Disneyland and he'd want to do that as well.

Man, to win the lottery would be great. We could do both. Not enough time or money though.

My kids are going back tomorrow after having been off for two weeks......No time off for Easter. The school calendar here in Monterey County operates on a modified year round schedule. They go for 1 quarter (9 weeks long), then off for two weeks. So they were off for two weeks in October and December and March. We are now starting the last quarter!!
Then Virginia here we come!!

We are spending our entire summer in Louisiana....yes, that is good, and yes, that is bad!

Y'all have a great night!

Linda, your 40th birthday plans sound wonderful! I want to come!:)

Thanks................... I wish all of you could come! At times you guys here feel so much like my mates ( it that a bit slushy?) just we spend so long on here chatting.... you have become my friends already. :grouphug:

I will take LOTS of pictures..... not sure after some "fizz" what the quality of the photos will be like.. Warning i often cut peoples head off ! :rotfl:

Most schools Jeff have the week before and the week after Easter. Thats nice, but I like Paiges school idea of taking it every 9 weeks, so that we could go away, when others are at school. The TA put up the prices soooo much in school holidays. The family we met on the 4 night crusie, home schooled and I could see that being a massive advantage. Wayne and I could home school Elouise till she was about 6, then we would get stuck !

Why are the Oct hours out yet???? :confused3 Im waiting !

off to make breakfast.............. thought an early bump was in order!:rotfl2:

Hi, y'all. Emily's birthday is May 21 (she'll be 14)

Mines the day before...we could be twins :rotfl: :rotfl:

Brenda, Just finished HP and the Order of the Phoenix, starting the Half Blood Prince tonight!:)

Just finished Half Blood Prince last week. 2nd time around for me, refreshing my memory and getting ready for the last book.

Good for you! Actually the 5th movie is being released in July two weeks before the book. July is going to be such a great HP month this year!

Good news, can't wait, although the books are better than the movies. We saw the last one at City Walk and at the very end..two guys at the front piped up and said 'Is that it???' along with groans from the rest of the audience. It was a bit of a let down. Watched Chamber of Secrets again the other day, it was being aired again on TV.

O.K. This is post 700 for me on this board.

Where do you get all this information/data???

Have a good day everyone

Heather
