Speaking of Nancy, where is that girl??? Haven't seen her around here much! :worried:

I think they had some family issues with an aunt of Chuck's who's been very ill. I PMd her yesterday but still haven't heard back.

We're thinking about you Fancy-Schmancy Nancy! :grouphug: :grouphug:

Well lots of :grouphug: for Nancy & Chuck!!!!!!!!!

DYERNEEDS... its a play on our last name. youve heard the term "in dire need of something" or in "dire straights" well our last name is pronounced the same hence dyerneeds... as in we are in dyerneed (dire need) of a disney vacation.
we actually have two of those bricks at wdw with our name on them. we happened to be there the first day they went on sale in 1994 so we got two of them. one on each side of the grey bricks in the middle. whenever we go to wdw we take a toothbrush to our bricks to clean them up.
one year robin and i laid down on the ground with our faces next to the bricks and had a picture taken. a cast member came by and thought we were crazy. he was right.

Cass--I just had a look at your new pics of your little princess. She's so beautiful! Everytime you show some of the pics, it brings back memories of when my kids were little. It won't be long before you are taking her picture on her first day of school.

Thanks for sharing them. They brought a smile to my face and I laughed out loud for a few of them, too.:)

Hey guys, we put some distance between us and #17, but I don't think we're going to hold for too long. However, they sail on 5/14 so we should be able to catch them if we fall behind and pull away while they are sailing.

On the #15 front, we're just over 350 away.

Thank you so much for the welcome - we are all very excited about the trip. I am a little nervous about the late seating for dinner but I am trying not to worry about it.

I hope people dont mind but I will probably ask lots of questions once we finally book (probably this coming weekend, we will do it). Looking at a Category 4 as there are 5 of us.

Talk to you soon
Jessalynn

My family is new to the post too, this is our first cruise. I have a B/12, G/8. We like you are very excited about the cruise. We have late seating for dinner also.

Hey Janice - us newbies will have to help each other when we get lost on the ship.

OK so here goes with some questions and hopefully I will get a few responses with answers.

1. Dining - i am confused how late is the 2nd seating - some places say its 8pm and others say its 830pm - does any one know which it is?

2. Dining - do we get to choose which order we go to the restaurants or are we assigned? Which order is best?

3. Navigators - do we get a whole week in advance so we can play our whole week - or just 1 day at a time?

4. Activities - does anyone know the Kim Possible activities normally run? If my daugther doesnt see Kim then I am afraid her cries will send us completely off course (she has good lungs - thank God she is a good kid and doesnt use them often)

5. Activities - do the Oceaneer lab etc run activities while we are at Port?

6. Breakfast - is there only 1 choice for breakfast - Topsiders - everyone seems to talk about Topsiders only. Can you eat Breakfast at Lumieres?

7. Family Stateroom - I know they say it can accomodate 5 people - but has anyone done it? does it work with all the luggage? can 5 people get ready?

Thanks - I appreciate all the help!

Don't worry about getting lost. We (I mean they) will help you around.

I will answer some of your questions in red below.

APL is at 5:30 & 8:00
PLA is at 5:45 & 8:15
LAP is at 6:00 & 8:30

2. Dining - do we get to choose which order we go to the restaurants or are we assigned? Which order is best?

You can REQUEST a certain rotation, but nothing is Guaranteed. As for best, it comes down to preference. If you want a certain time, request based on above. If you want to be in a certain restaurant 3 times as opposed to 2, request the rotation that puts that restaurant first.

I chose based on where I like to be on certain nights. I like L first for any formal or semi-formal night. My second choice for those nights is A. I like to be in P for Pirate night because it is the Tropical restaurant. On the Western, I would choose APL. You get L for both Semi and Formal nights and P for Pirate night. On the Eastern, I choose PLA.

3. Navigators - do we get a whole week in advance so we can play our whole week - or just 1 day at a time?

The Navigators only come out the night before. However, you can see copies of ones from prior cruises to get a feel of what is going on. Go to www.castawayclub.com to view previous Navigators (this link may not show up. If so, I will repost in a different format so you can get to that website).

4. Activities - does anyone know the Kim Possible activities normally run? If my daugther doesnt see Kim then I am afraid her cries will send us completely off course (she has good lungs - thank God she is a good kid and doesnt use them often)

I don't recall any KP activities on the boat. If they add them, that would be new. DS is into KP as well.

5. Activities - do the Oceaneer lab etc run activities while we are at Port?

Yes, they are open when in a port of call. They are not open when we are in Port Canaveral. You can drop your kids if you want to go ashore alone.

6. Breakfast - is there only 1 choice for breakfast - Topsiders - everyone seems to talk about Topsiders only. Can you eat Breakfast at Lumieres?

Topsiders is the buffet breakfast. It is open early and you can get a bite early in the day. You can also sit outside. They have sit down in Lumiere's (not sure if it is everyday though). Parrot Cay has the character breakfast on the sea days (and Key West). You go to that based on your dining rotation. You will get tickets. It is usually the morning after you have Animator's Palate. Lastly, you can always do room service.

7. Family Stateroom - I know they say it can accomodate 5 people - but has anyone done it? does it work with all the luggage? can 5 people get ready?

Can't answer this. I do know it has a larger steamer trunk in it (double wide). Where most people put their suitcases is underneath the bed. I'll let someone else comment on how crowded it is.

Thanks - I appreciate all the help!

1. 8:00, 8:15 and 8:30--staggered so everyone is not showing up at the same time and dinner can be served hot.

2. You are assigned. You can request but will not know until you cruise. Each family has their own opinion on the order to request.....

3. Navs--one at the beginning giving you a general overview of activities then one each night for the next day's activities specifically.

4. Not sure about Kim.

5. Yes, the clubs operate while we are in port.

6. I think one of the main restaurants offer breakfast in addition to Topsiders. Not sure which one.

7. We did a cat 4--we are 5 in the family. The kids were 13, 10, and 6. Worked out great. There is a curtain to separate the room, so we closed it to make two rooms to give the DD13 privacy to get dressed. The rest of us didn't care if the rest of the family saw us in our "drawers"....:rotfl:

Hope this helps and welcome again.

Paige

Can someone verify that Pirate night is on Tuesday? Didn't it used to be on Wednesday?

And is Palo open on the last night--CC night?

And...when we make Palo ressies online, can we only make 1 ressie, i.e., dinner OR brunch, but not both?

1) Yes, Palo is open on Friday evening.

2) You can make 1 dinner, 1 brunch, and 1 tea reservation at Palo on-line. Be sure to have some extra shrimp and champagne for me!!

Hi kids!!

I'm back. Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do too. About 10 pages worth!

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for Chuck's aunt, but the poor girl is still hanging on. She's just not ready yet I guess. :sad2:

I've been pretty busy at work too. Tomorrow the boss, his daughter, and our book-keeper all leave for Florida!! The next week it'll be like I'm getting a paid vacation, but I'll be at work instead!!:lmao: I'll be plenty busy, but, I won't have the pressure of someone looking over my shoulder all day long to make sure I'm working hard.

So, I see we have a few new DISers on board. Welcome to AverysMommy and her family. We're a crazy bunch all-right!:scared: We have plenty of people here who will be happy to answer all your questions. Has anyone told Jesslynn about the Yahoo group?

Cass, glad you have a "neighbor" now. Maybe by the time we cruise, we'll have more of our Canadian friends cruising with us. BTW..."Uncle" Chuck and
"Aunt" Nancy will be holding out for a big old hug and kiss from their new little niece.:cutie:

Brenda, glad you got tagged! ENJOY!! :dance3:

Karen, Linda, Jeff, Brenda and Paige..thanks for the concern on my wearabouts. Like Linda says, we are just like family on this thread, (except we like each other :lmao: ).

Heather, thanks for clarifying the GOS. I was always wondering. Mine's rather boring..just like Jeff's. cntkg1 is just our initials with a one on the end.

I think AFEG will be back on Friday again. I read something from him on Brenda's Argle.

I better go back and re-read the last 10 pages because I just know I forgot something here.

Talk to you soon everyone..real soon!

It was on Wednesday when we went in January. It was the night we left Cozumel.

On castawayclub.com they have a nav from Feb 24 7 day western....It's on Tuesday.....DRAT! I wanted it to be on Wednesday.:headache:
