Just went to a college planning session with my son's school college planning advisor.
Very helpful, Very scary too! Thinking of all this stuff.
I'm so glad that my son switched to a small private school this past year. I know that his old school was too huge to have this type of personalized attention.
This whole process though....it's gotten me stressed just thinking of all the forms, deadlines, testing, college touring, interviews.....

Somehow my son seems to be so casual and unaffected by it all. I wish I was as calm and sedated as him...although I know if I was like him I'd get nothing accomplished at all. My anxieties keep me going:rotfl:

Anyone else going through this headache? Or been there done that?
How about Nancy? Or Robin?

Also just read on the Passporter boards that Disney has updated its Disney Dreams show with new characters and songs and has changed it's sailaway party:

News from Press release.........
Applause, Applause! ‘Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic’
And New Sail-Away Party ‘Wow’ Guests On Disney Magic and Disney Wonder

CELEBRATION, Fla. -- Snow falls in Walt Disney Theatre. Lasers generate sparkling pixie-dust trails. New Disney character performers take a bow. And the deck-party fun ramps up several notches. It's part of a flurry of onboard fun that will debut this spring on both Disney Cruise Line ships.

One of the most popular, long-running shows on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, "Disney Dreams," will display new dazzle as "Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic" with elaborately enhanced special effects, animation and new scenic elements. As a bonus, two beloved character cast members -- Timon and Pumbaa of Disney's classic film "The Lion King" -- make their first-ever appearance on a Disney Cruise Line ship. The revitalized show will debut on the Disney Wonder March 21, 2007, and will be unveiled on the Disney Magic just in time for the ship's inaugural season in the Mediterranean this May.

At the opulent Walt Disney Theatre, the enhanced "Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic," tells the story of a young girl who learns about the power of dreams. New laser effects allow Tinkerbell to "sprinkle" the theater with sparkling pixie-dust trails, and fresh animated video footage brings the show to life like never before. During a scene from the classic film "Beauty and the Beast," "snow" literally falls upon the audience. When Cinderella takes the stage, special pyrotechnic effects add glitter to her sartorial transformation from rags to ball gown. And Timon and Pumbaa appear for a musical medley of "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matata" from "The Lion King."

Additional musical numbers during the 55-minute performance include: "You Can Fly!" "A Whole New World," "Prince Ali," "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "So This Is Love," "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea" and "Beauty and the Beast." (Featured on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder)

"We're committed to refreshing onboard entertainment and adding new theatrical surprises for our guests," says Jim Urry, director of entertainment for Disney Cruise Line. "Fans of our original 'Disney Dreams' show will be blown away by the enhancements."

Also beginning this summer, guests on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will find a greatly enhanced Sail-Away Party, featuring new music, interactive dances and appearances by the world-famous Disney characters on the upper decks. Taking full advantage of the Ariel Vision jumbo screens recently added to both ships, new visual elements are planned for the show and guests attending the party may find themselves dancing on the "big screen." The party culminates with the sounding of the signature Disney Cruise Line "When You Wish Upon a Star" horn, signaling the official start of the ultimate cruise vacation.

Thought I would share the latest news from DCL.

The improvements sound fun, thanks for sharing! We were a bit disappointed with the sail away party on the Wonder. it was like a cheap tacky disco, with the DJ shouting down the mike all the time.... " Scream the Disney Womder! " It was fun to see the characters dance, but it wasnt so much a party, and as "family" as we expected. Not sure if this was cos I read so much on these boards, i expected more.???

I WISH they would add some STEEL DRUMS etc we are on holiday to the caribbean after all.................. If I want to listen to the Back street boys on CD I can do that at home !

Karen I think you are talking about stairmasters...at least that is what they were called when I used to go to a gym...about 8 years ago:guilty:
I thought when you were talking about eliptical machines that they were like stair masters. So what's an eliptical?
Sadly, I don't go to a gym....no money left after paying for this cruise!
So I have to force myself to do old fashioned exercising at home although I do own a Bowflex.....I just have to actually use it!:rotfl:

No its not a stairmaster - a stairmaster is just 2 platforms that raise and lower. Its difficult ot explain but here goes...

It looks like half a set of stairs (5 steps), you climb to the top and press the start button and speed. The stairs start moving like an escalator. You have to keep climbing or you fall off the bottom step. I hadnt seen them til I went to this gym.
An eliptical is a cross trainer type machine. 2 platforms for your feet and 2 poles to hold onto. it has a sort of cycle motion but standing up. Any wiser?:confused3 - probably not after that bad description:lmao:

I like the look of the bowflex too - is it any good? I'm terrible for buying exercise dvd's and videos - I must have about 30!- They only work if you do them;)

Anyway... I'm still being good - skinless chicken breast with veg for dinner with gravy.

We were a little disappointed in the sail away on the Magic in January. But I think it was mostly because the band was awful. We had N'Twine. If any of you had them, you would rather have the Backstreet Boys on CD. :sad2:

I'm looking forward to the changes. We only went the first cruise to the shows. Never repeated any of them on subsequent cruises. The next time we cruise, at I will be going to them. If Suz and DS don't, then fine with them.

You know, a cheaper solution to the gym would be to go to the mall with the local teenagers and just go up the down escalators. :rotfl2: Then you can get your running in when the security guards show up. :lmao:

My family was hoping to do parasailing, but had seen that the parasailing was cancelled. Is that the only place that offers parasailing?

You should be able to find an outfit in Cozumel for sure. Not sure if they have it through DCL.

I would also think that you could find it on KW and GC.

Thanks, I may check some of those places myself. If anyone has used a outfit in any of the other stops, it would be nice to know of a good place.

Janice

Good news about the sailaway party  but bad news about the parasailing:sad1: . I was going to have a go:scared1: - figured it would be the nearest I'd get to Tinkebell's zipline off the castle.

Has everyone decided on their trips etc yet?

We will mostly have a wonder round the local shops and then a nice beach at each port, then a nice restaurant for lunch.

Rum Point looks idyllic, and theres loads of beaches to choose from at Cozumel. We might stay away from the one with the trampolines etc cos it looks rammed and very busy on every photo I have ever seen, plus from other posts it sounds like most things are in quite deep water and too hard for the littler kids.

One thing I MUST do is have a massage on the beach:cloud9: (maybe even on every beach:cloud9: )

We quite fancy the pirate ship adventure thingy with Disney, but thats probably the only organised thing we'll do.

Key West has electric cars - they sound like fun to explore. You can hire them by the hour I think.

Anyway,... I've just typed as things have popped into my head so it probably deosnt make much sense:lmao:

Jeff - I could hang round with the youths in the local mall but knowing my luck I'd get arrested for loitering:rotfl2:

A chinese man rings his work and says "I not feelin good...I not come in work"...

His boss replies... "when I am ill I go home and sh*g the wife, you should try it"...

The chinese man turns up for work the next day feeling fine..

The Boss says " See I told you!"

The chinese man replies "you right Boss.....and your house is very nice!"

Karen,

I would opt for Chakanaab (sp?) then. Haven't been to that park since the hurricane, but when we were there, they had a nice little cove with a beach that you could go to. They also have a reef right out from the park that you can snorkel to.

They have 2 restaurants if I remember correctly. Also, a nature trail and mini golf.

I think a couple of DISers (Nancy?) were thinking of going there for the Dolphin Swim. They also have Snuba on that side as well.

Not one from the first grade class there, but funny none the less.

Here's a childish one:

Why does a chicken coop have 2 doors?

Because if it had 4, it would be a chicken sedan.

Thank you, I'm here all week.

Is it a long way though if we just want the beach? I'm not good with fish - they petrify me, so I wont be snorkeling looking at them, but hubby and Ellis love snorkelling. None of us fancy dolphin encounters. I'll have a look at the website - thank you:thumbsup2 .

Oh by the way everyone,......I've been over to the 27th Oct thread and they havent seen Chris either:confused3 - I reckon all that talk of a photo has got him booked into a beauty spa for a week, being waxed, plucked, dyed and pampered ready for his photo shoot:rotfl: He'll look like Mr UK when he finally posts that photo:lmao:

Hallelujah Linda!! They had them on our cruise in Oct 05 but have since let them go. I was part of a thread a while back who pleaded with Disney to get them back on the ship. We all sent them emails hoping it would change their minds, but it was a no-go. Funny, we all got the same email response from DCL.

I'm terrible for buying exercise dvd's and videos - I must have about 30!- They only work if you do them;)

What? What do you mean you have to use them?:lmao: :lmao:

Looks like you've been to Mayfair lately Jeff.:rolleyes1

I want to do the parasailing more than anything. So we'll have to find it elsewhere.
Also going to do Captain Marvins Stingray City again....loved that too!

What is Rum point? And the trampoline thing?

Key wes we were going to do catamaran racing last cruise but with the storm damage back in Nov, 2005, they cancelled. They also rerouted Cozumel....too much damage again. So we missed our dolphin excursion.
We'll try to do that one again. And someone on here mentioned a place to look at not run by Disney, that had more interaction with the dolphins....
but I'm also looking forward to the beaches on Cozumel, the drinking and the massages too! Don't think we can afford them all though.

Key west seemed to be a lot of shopping and drinking going on...not much else, but we might have missed a lot because a lot was shut down due to flooding.

We did go to Hemingway House, because I LOVE CATS!!!!!SO SORRY KAREN......(Now, please don't go shooting those ones outside your door....I'm sure that they're very sorry:guilty: )
(and that would be my animal I am most like also but more of a high strung Siamese that talks too much!:lmao: )

Anyway...Hemingway House was ok.... my son and a girl he met on our cruise though the house and tour was a tad bit boring. But we loved visiting and petting all the cats living on the premises. They say that all the polydactyl (sp?)...multi-toed cats originated from Ernest Hemingway....somehow he had some that bred many times over (must have been like rabbits:lmao: )
So even though we enjoyed that can't say that we'd bother to do it again.

Karen you probably wouldn't do this one at all would you???? Or would you go there with some kind of mission and a vengence???:rotfl2:

Good one Karen!

Been there, done that. TWICE. We got lucky as our kids went to a small Catholic High School and the counselors took care of most of it for us. Heck, that hefty tuition better buy us something.

My family was hoping to do parasailing, but had seen that the parasailing was cancelled. Is that the only place that offers parasailing?

Janice

Janice, glad you came back to us. Do you still need that invitation to the Yahoo group? Just PM me with your email address and I'll get the invite out to you.

Or worse. But then again, you'd have to be a school teacher here in the US. :scared1: :sad2:

OUCH!!!:headache:

Got it hand it to the boss. Most people don't want to sh*g anyone when they're sick!
