October 2012 Code Watch!!!

I just called and they said my dates were still blacked out, the 11th through the 16th :( oh how I hope they open them up

Those dates have been blacked out for years and people have had to pay rack rate for everything. So I doubt they will be opening it up this year.

Well, it is okay to be hopeful. I am too!

Soooo, long time lurker here. Looking for the ways I can do Disney on a dime. Not getting easy, as disney seems to want to charge on everything, which is why my last 3 trips I have rented houses off property (but those were large family trips).

Now with a 2 and 5 year old, we are doing a 5 night trip this October staying at AoA Cars suite (Oct 19-23), and I can't get a single break on the hotel other than the standard AAA 10% off rate.

So here's the point of confusion. I have my park tickets already paid for through my work (we get at 20% discount when bought in advance) but I wondering if it's a better deal to get a package and include the FD. My gut is telling me Tickets are a better deal than FD.

So far I got Flights covered by my wife and I each getting a Southwest Credit card with points after the first purchase that got 4 free tickets.

I REALLY want to stay at the contemporary, as it's the one monorail hotel I haven't had the chance to stay at, but only expensive suites are left there. I was hoping to find a discount come out that drops that cost, but I'm not too optimistic.

i would suggest you go onto the disney site and key in for your time of stay with tickets. take that price and see what the difference is between that and your already booked stay and the cost of your tickets through your empoyer. if you subtract the two it will give you a very close idea of what the dinning plan is costing you. keep in mind that the hotel your staying in is a value resort and you only get the quick service plan. you can upgrade for a small amount more.
the other thing i would suggest is just call disneys booking dept and get the price from them and then do your subtracting. that way you will know exactly what the cost difference is and you will be able to figure out if its a better deal or not.
ether way, its all in the math. good luck.

I did some of the math, but going with that I also lose the 10% AAA room discount as well, AND booking the package means that I really don't have an option to change if a nice GP room only deal comes up. (I think)

You can apply a room code to a current package, but you would give up free dining or any other discount (no stacking allowed). Room codes can be applied to both room only reservations and package reservations.

Just called Disney Booking to see if I had any PINs associated to my account. I got a very Nice "Yes...20% off room only"
SWEET!!

"oh, but you had to use it by June 23"
Bogus!

Has anyone heard any rumors about October discounts?

No and I am getting so bummed out about it

I want to move to a deluxe like I have the past few years (with the discount of course) and just for kicks I searched my dates Oct 18-28 and there is nothing in the Epcot area at all. Do you think they hold rooms back for the discount release?

Really wish the WDW site would search for rooms within your date range, such a pain to keep changing the dates by 1 or 2 days and researching. This is why calling is sooo much easier

I usually get an October room only discount code about this time every year. As of yet, I have seen nothing....has anyone who "usually" gets a pin code seen one? Thanks!

Hey Nicki, we're going from the 27-30 and there are rooms around Epcot (without any discount obviously) right now.

We're currently booked at the Swan, but if the discount is right, we'd prefer to move to a Disney Resort.

We have gone several times before in Oct and always with a pin we received. This year so far... Nada. But waiting hopefully..... If nothing comes out or we receive then we will just pay rack rate though id rather not!

Might finally meet you!

The goal is to not change resorts during the week, I prefer to stay in one resort the entire time but if I have to well then I might just do it. Playing with the first few days at the POFQ and then hopefully move to an Epcot resort (or Todd's choice is Poly again)

Thinking discounts were going to be super slim for the fall and winter, I traded in Starwoods points and booked our 3 night Dec trip at the Dolphin...cant wait! A free stay is so much better than waiting for Dec discounts LOL!

Yay! Got a reservation for the Wishes Dessert Party on 10/20. All my flights, tickets, and ADRs are done. One item left:

ROOM ONLY DISCOUNT!

C'mon Disney...you can do it!

Any rumors or anything in when room only discounts might come out ? Even a good idea or anything:confused3
