October 2011 Code Watch

SJS, I do think a GP rate will come out. I think too many people heard stuff about the middle of the month and I think it's going to happen!! Someone on another thread was mentioning GP rates usually follow close behind an AP rate so...... pixiedust: to you!!

Yesterday was an ordeal. After two phone calls and two hours on hold I got through for the CM to tell me my dates were blacked out (this was before they were up on the website). I was so disappointed. Then within minutes it's on WDW AND my dates are included. Back on hold for another 25 mins or so. I am not complaining because like I said in the end I got it and will save but I haven't seen many say they didn't get what they wanted (even people that called today) so I'm still unsure what my rush was:rotfl:

I checked on AP for my dates today. No WL availability. So no AP, no FD, only chance left is GP. No way I'm paying rack.

Well that sorta shoots the AP idea for us too, since we are booked at WL and I am not sure if DH would want to change resorts again, he loves WL so much

That was some bad customer service with CM telling people the wrong dates yesterday. Disney definately lacks in CM informational training.

Yes, surely bad customer service. You know I wonder how people that don't know about the Dis get anything in WDW?? Without arming yourself with the knowledge you learn on here you would get shafted.

At first I was on hold for about 40 mins and it was SILENT, I was going to hang up but others on here had the same thing so I knew it wasn't just me. Then the dates lots of people on here getting conflicting answers so I knew something was up and of course I found out here first that 1 - it was up on WDW and 2 - them telling people 10/30 - 11/5 was incorrect. I'm sure many others that are not aware of the dis just said O darn and either changed dates or travel arrangements etc.

Even the whole thing with the ticket situation, every CM you ask will give you a different answer on if you can pick your park tickets up before your package starts.

THANKFUL FOR THE DIS!!!:worship:

Do you think anything would apply to BC? I'm doubtful since it's all booked up over our dates. Poo!

I saw someone post that there was no availablilty with the AP discount at BC or YC but they were able to get BW.

Last year I called about booking one of the value villas at AKL, I had two different CM tell me there was no such thing :rotfl: Third time was the charm when I called I was able to book it. Now at the first hint of the CM being clueless I just say thank you and hang up and call back

you are so right about the DIS the information here is great

I called today and got the FD for OCt 23-29 at CBR. I think I had one of the really good CMs as she already knew that there was availabilty for the FD at CBR and set it all up quickly. She even transferred my building requests and linked the 2 reservations together without me asking- she told me as she was doing it! SO I have my 2 res- one for the 22nd and then the FD package. :cool1:

Thanks to all of you who have been answering my questions the last few weeks!

Just made my phone call yesterday evening and after only a 14 minute hold was answered by a very friendly CM that made my upgrade to FD within just a few minutes. Oct. 23-29. Can't wait. Ready or not Disney here we come.

If there's nothing available for your dates under the AP rate, it is unlikely (although I do wish everyone pixiedust:) that there will be availability under a GP rate. The discounts are released to increase occupancy; if there's limited availability they don't need to increase occupancy.

For my dates (blackout for free dining), only the WL, SSR and Kidani were available on the AP rate - no other deluxes. Only the pirate rooms at CBR were available - no other mods.

If you look at your dates and there's nothing at rack rate at the resort you want, why would they need to discount something that doesn't exist?

Yep. I called yesterday to check on POFQ to see if there were any AAA discounted rooms opened up. CM was shocked to see that POFQ is basically unavailable for 10/18-10/24. There were two adjoining kings, but no rooms with double queens. She just kept saying "I don't understand...what is going on that week?" So, I guess we'll be paying rack if we stay on. :headache:

I'll betcha that's the resort where all the golfers are staying. :) On a serious note, isn't POFQ the smallest resort? And it's so quaint, I bet people just love it and it books fast anyway. I thought I read here on the DIS that a lot of times, POFQ is exempt from discounts because it does fill up quite fast with people paying the regular rates.

I did a comparison yesterday to price out AKL vs what we were paying at Shades of Green. Online the days we were staying at AKL would be over 3000. Told my mom whose in charge of rooms and flights to call and see if we can get a better deal. Told her to be super nice (she gets pushy), and the CMs will be super nice to you. They ended up giving us a great deal!

Wouldn't have learned to do it and to research and call around without the help of the Dis!! and hopefully everyone who doesn't read the Dis and paying rack rate isn't like my dad who screams and yells until he gets his discount.... :headache: so embarassing!

Exactly! I had been watching my dates for some time and new there was little to none availability at most of the Deluxes at rack rate for my dates so I had little hope of FD being offered or if it was of there being much available to book.
That being said I am not holding out much hope of my dates having availability(at my current resort of choice) if they do fall under a GP offer but you never know if enough people switch their dates to get FD anything is possible

I noticed people saying "called to see if I had any discounts/pins under my name."

Who/how would I go about calling to check that?

The day that AP discounts & free dining discounts came out, we checked POFQ for our week in October and there were only King Bed rooms available (and even without discounts it's still only Kings available). I think the refurbishment combined with the resort's popularity and small size are going to make future discounts harder to come by, at least until Riverside's refurb is complete.

I just called. I'm having a hard time deciding between Beach Club and Polynesian. The Cm told me there were no discounts under our name, but they would be releasing some sort of discount this month for our dates Oct 22-28. She also said both of these resorts had plenty of availability for these dates. She said if I went ahead and booked the rate could be adjusted when a discount came out if I called back and applied it. I didn't book because I cannot decide.

Free dining discount just came out. Not sure if there will be another one coming.

I guess that's confirmation that a GP discount is indeed coming out this Aug!

What I did was call the disney reservations number... (407) 939-7675 unsure if this is the right number but ask if you do.
Even if they don't have pins out... my mom still got a 40% off deal.. dunno if was cuz its her and my dad's anniversary but its worth a shot, just ask nicely!

hope you get one! You totally deserve it! ( I work at an Air Force base :) )
