October 2011 Car Rental Rates

So my last post was actually a reduction from yesterday. I just tried a few contract codes again today, and my rate came down! Yay!

I'm now at $173.37, almost $25 less than yesterday. Not a huge difference, but every little bit helps. Again, National EA reservation, Sept 29 - Oct 10 (12 days).

So maybe today is a good day to do some modifying!

What National code are you using? I have the $35 coupon, but the code I use for 10/1-10/11 the rate still comes up as $600.xx for midsize.

No, but I am curious as all get out!!!! Now I am valiantly searching to see if I can get something under $200 at Alamo! How many days is your rental for?

Never mind, I found the code. Unfortunately, because I am renting over Columbus Day weekend, these codes give me a rate of $263. If I were to rent a week earlier, the same codes give me a rate of $69. GRRRRRRR>>>>>>> Interestingly, although I can use the coupon over Columbus Day weekend, the Alamo site won't give me any BJ's membership discount at all!

Hello!!

I was wondering if someone could help point me in the right direction. We are hoping to do a 1 way rental from MCO to FLL. Picking up maybe at Disney? on 10/20 and returning on 10/23....any ideas or tips? We typically like to use National, and are EI members. We could pick the car up earlier if it was cheaper to do so. Its just DH and I, so dont need a big car or van or anything ( :

I just found the source of the $35 code. It's American airlines so I guess that puts me out (Southwest). That's okay, the hunt is still on!!! I just saw last minute rates were showing as $100. That's more to my liking.

I am actually watching Alamo's Hot Deal's hoping that when my dates comes up I can get a really good rate. Right now a SUV for a week is costing me $500 and I see Hot Deal rates of $155 for the week Hoping pixie dust passes my way.....

Same here. But I actually do have a reservation for an SUV through Budget for $291....not so bad, I guess. But....still hoping for a better deal or a better deal for a minivan.
