October 2011 Car Rental Rates

Try contract code 5504500. I found that gave me a mid-size emerald aisle for $157 for 9 days starting 9/25.

Gave it a try, it's giving me the same rate as my Amex code. I actually tried a bunch from a list I have, and the majority of them gave me that rate.

I'll keep trying, since it seems that the lowest rates are for the week or two before my dates right now. If it doesn't go down, I'm ok with that rate.

go back thru the last few pages of the thread, several have been listed you need to plug them in for your dates to see if they'll work

even though i was tired after driving back from Cedar Point;) i made sure to check my rental car ressies

my alamo droppped again:) to $159xx for 8 days, midsize beginning 10/1 (7014667 - insiders - & ad2359fdf - american airlines). This is approx $30 less than i paid last year same time span for FS with national. my national res that hasn't changed in ages is now over $100 more, still hoping it drops though

Do I have to have an American Airlines coupon to present to use AD2359FDF?

That's awesome :thumbsup2 ... our Alamo rental is $366xx for 10 days, midsize beginning 10/5 (using same codes). And you're right, our National rental is about $100 more than that  I really really hope the rates go down

oh my:scared1:, maybe this week they'll drop. Alamo was high until last week for my res beginning on 10/1

it does reference the AA corporate id but i believe u can mix corp ids & coupons with Alamo currently?:confused3

ps wouldn't hurt to sign up (free) to get join American Advantage

Thanks!! I have an AAdvantage number but wasnt able to find that coupon anywhere! I've added my AA number to my Alamo account so hopefully that will be all it takes!!

Again - thanks so much Keishashadow!

The National rate has actually increased over the last few days by $100 or so from my $156. Interesting.

FWIW - my Autoslash reservation was reduced another $30 automatically. So they have me boooked with Dollar 10/22-10/28 for 208.96 for Intermediate

Still too high for me to keep; but I'll let them thme keep looking. In theory, I like them doing the work. In actuality, I keep checking anyways.:rotfl:

I got a full size rental from Budget on Priceline the other day for 10/8 - 10/16
I bid $12/day and got it on the first try, total $169.64. Hope this helps someone :)

I have been bidding for a car through Priceline for over a week now for our trip 10/7-10/11, bidding anywhere between $15 and $20 a day and coming up with nothing. I think it's the Friday night pick-up that's killing me, and the real killer is that we don't arrive at MCO until 11:30pm... practically Saturday!

Here is a trick that sometimes works. Book your car rental on expedia.ca, the Canadian version of Expedia. For some reason rental rates are a lot cheaper through Canadian websites even when the rental is in the US and even if you are a US resident. I learned this trick from this link on HotelDealsRevealed.com: http://www.hoteldealsrevealed.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=215&t=196&p=940&hilit=car+rental#p940

Speaking of car rentals in October, I am renting a car for 5 nights out of SFO in October and got an insanely cheap rate from Expedia.ca that was much, much cheaper than anyone else (and no, I am in no way affiliated with Expedia).

Let me know if this works for you.

Do you have a backup reservation? Car Rental Savers: http://www.carrentalsavers.com/florida-car-rental.html shows a Full Size car for $24 per day plus taxes ($157 with everything). It's not a horrible price and it's a place to start.

I named my own price on priceline yesterday and got a mini van for $20 per day plus tax.

Car rental is crazy!!:headache: After watching my itinerary for awhile, last night I posted the first posting on this page, right after trying both Orbitz and Priceline, with no luck... same price online as it has been (around $200 for a midsize), and no luck with Priceline:mad:. This morning I checked Orbitz and found I can get a midsize for $24.36 a day, so I booked a midsize at Dollar for $138. :confused3I know it's still expensive, compared to booking for a week, but I can LIVE with this ressie. I'll keep trying, but now I can stop whining!:goodvibes

I bid/won Priceline a week and a half ago. Full size $12/day for 8 days w/ Avis. My total was $170.92. Guess the taxes/fees change.

Either way, I think that price is a pretty good deal. Our reservation includes Columbus Day weekend. Perhaps the rates will come down in the next week or two, but I don't think it will go too much lower. September rentals are geting AWESOME rates, but September is very different from October (hotel rates for October higher than September)

Alamo rates for my week came down again today Oct 9-16th... Midsize down to $154.81, ID 7014667 and coupon ad2359fdf. Could be cheaper but I have a $30 extra day charge because it's an am pickup and afternoon dropoff.

FWIW, my AutoSlash reservation with Thrifty for 10/2 - 14 for a compact went from $330 to $264. Good price but still not as quite as good as my Alamo reservation for $259 that I made many months ago.
