October 2011 Car Rental Rates

popcorn::
Car rental is crazy!!:headache: After watching my itinerary for awhile, last night I posted the first posting on this page, right after trying both Orbitz and Priceline, with no luck... same price online as it has been (around $200 for a midsize), and no luck with Priceline:mad:. This morning I checked Orbitz and found I can get a midsize for $24.36 a day, so I booked a midsize at Dollar for $138. :confused3I know it's still expensive, compared to booking for a week, but I can LIVE with this ressie. I'll keep trying, but now I can stop whining!:goodvibes

Crazy good;) by obsessively:rolleyes1 checking rates i've found over the years it's consistently one of the few components of a trip I can save hundreds of $s (toward the next one;))

national has yet to budge:confused3but my 8 day Alamo res dropped another $16 overnight, now $143xx for mid-size. Hoping it'll keep dropping so I can segue up to a standard/FS that we're used to renting.

It's been a long time since I rented with Alamo, anybody know what is typically found on the MCO mid-size aisle?

Alamo rates for my week came down again today Oct 9-16th... Midsize down to $154.81, ID 7014667 and coupon ad2359fdf. Could be cheaper but I have a $30 extra day charge because it's an am pickup and afternoon dropoff.

Thanks very much for this post...I modified my fullsize and saved $100 with the coupon and taking off my prior ID corp...although that ID rate is "sold out." :cool1:

I have been bidding for a car through Priceline for over a week now for our trip 10/7-10/11, bidding anywhere between $15 and $20 a day and coming up with nothing. I think it's the Friday night pick-up that's killing me, and the real killer is that we don't arrive at MCO until 11:30pm... practically Saturday!
Why not just rent the car starting Saturday at, say 12:30am, or just after midnight? By the time you disembark, get your baggage and get to the car rental agency, it will probably be Saturday anyway.

Alamo and Natinoal (and Enterprise) are the same company, so you should get basically the same type of thing you would get from National - Impalas, Malibus, Altimas, etc.

Following keishashadow's advice, i checked again on my 10/4-10/11 alamo standard size rental and it dropped by $36. Down to $182 for a 1 week, 1 hour rental. Keep dropping!

This response was on the "What's on the EA?" thread from a National/Alamo/Enterprise employee:

Toyota Corolla, sometimes Ford Fusions, Chevy HHR's, Volkswagon Beetles, and similar.

Keep in mind, that Alamo, National and Enterprise share cars, by that I mean, they all come from the same place, cleaned the same way and assigned as they come in from being serviced and cleaned. So, a midsize in Alamo will be similar on the EA, but, you do have a chance to get a full size. Personally, I would stick with the EA reservation. So much quicker than standing in the Alamo line at the counter and it has been busy!!! The 2012's are coming in now and there is a good chance you will get a new car with very low miles on it......no guarantees however. :)

I was able to get our rental with Alamo down to $136 with taxes/fees for 10/3-7 (5 days no sat night) I used a free day coupon we earned so I had to call to have them modify the reservation for me.

The weekly rate is $145.14 minus the Insiders discount of 20% ($29.03) (using Contract I.D. 7014667) minus the free day ($23.22) = $92.89/week plus taxes/fees = $136.94

The rates dropped since yesterday so I thought I'd mention it.

Thanks for the info!

I plugged it in for Alamo for my dates of 10/6-14 and I got $621.14!!! :scared1:

Yea, not booking that one. :lmao:

The best I found so far is Budget for $267, not using a coupon since they have blacked-out all days for columus day weekend. Dollar was comparable, about $20 higher. But both of this have the big flashing signs fo the toll fees. I think I'm going around that by just getting my own SunPass. Has anyone done this?

Howeve,r my favorite car rental place is usually Alamo.

Hi all,

Just got Alamo, Standard for 10/4-10/11 (7 days, 1 hour) for $213 using the insiders id 7014667 and the entertainment book $30 off. Alamo does not have a standard selection at MCO, so it's essentially a full-size.

Will keep on the codes for the next couple of weeks. Glad to join the hunt.

My Alamo full size $260 just came down to $229 inc taxes. Used Insiders code 7014667 and $30 off coupon from Mousesavers. I just realized there is more than one Insiders code. 7014667 code says good til end of Sept but it worked for our dates Oct 6-13.

I plugged in my dates for 10/6-14 and got a compact for almost $621!!!

I accidentily booked it, but will now cancel very quickly. :rotfl:

My dates 10/1-10/11

Used 7014667 and coupon # AD2359FDF now my rate is down to $218.xx for a mid sized car.

I had Dollar booked for $258 and a previous Alamo reservation for $400.

Now to just verify I can use those codes...

that's what populates the MCO Exec Aisle MCO when i visit, doubtful they're on the midsize aisle.

TU, i'd be happy to find any of the cars u posted for Alamo. As stated it's been a few years since i rented from Alamo @ MCO but it always seemed that National had 'nicer' cars...one of the reasons we switched over allegiance but it's hard to stay loyal when difference is over $100 for sister rental companies.;)

Plus, according to this employee, Alamo and National now actually share the fleet at MCO so the cars are really the same thing.

Not to get your hopes up, but last time we rented from Alamo, we took a mini van off the midsize aisle. We gotten mid size SUV's too

Good luck!

I just plugged your dates in and I got a rate of $211.04 noon to noon... Make sure your insider information is plugged in (last name and id#), and also pickup and drop off time can make a difference... I tried to switch mine to a half hour and my rate nearly doubled so try fooling around with pickup and dropoff times

hope that helps!

Anyone have any idea why the ID everyone is using (7014667) for Alamo won't work for my dates? Keeps saying all cars are sold out. :confused3

Going 10/15-10/24. Tried changing times and everything with every code I can find and my rates aren't dropping. No luck yet.

I think that is a special code for a higher discount. It probably expires prior to your dates (which are my dates too). Just checked and it expires Sept. 26th.

could be:confused3only vehicles i've paid any attention to the last few years @ MCO have been on the Emerald & Executive Aisle. The Ex A used to have some sweet cars, last year or so mostly impalas & chargers. Emerald lots of avengers (which i own & like but rentals are good chance to test drive that next car kwim?)

Nice, why rent from National then. :)

to keep said Executive status, which permits booking @ midsize to get a fullsize and quicker free days but when the price is so much more (and it's a personal rental) hard to justify

that specific insider code was supposed to expire end of sept, i posted few pages back it just recently started working for my dates early Oct. There are tons of codes out there, you can do a search here or google. Depending on your comfort level, make sure you're eligible to produce necessary ID to back up using an affinity code you may stumble across in a search.

lastly, be aware codes & coupons are capacity controlled.

:cool1::cool1:
The car I booked yesterday is UP to $167 today; glad I jumped on the ressie yesterday morning, even though I really didn't have time to do the booking. I am one happy camper today:thumbsup2

I took that off of reading the "What's On the EA" thread, but people have been posting both EA and ExA results, so I may have read it wrong. All I know is that I'm hoping to grab an Altima, if there are any on the EA.

Also, I just got a $35 off coupon through National, so my EA reservation is now down to $197.69 taxes/fees included, Sept 29 - Oct 10 (12 days).

We got a mid-size SUV in the mid-size aisle last time as well.
