October 17, 2009 Western

I am so jealous of all those who are ready to go or on their way. I still have two full days of work left (yuck).

Don't worry, there are still a bunch of us not leaving until Friday. It's cold and drizzly here. It only makes a person happier to be gone in a couple days.

I have to drop my cat off at my mom's tonight, I am hoping to cram in a mani/pedi or at least a pedi on my lunch hour, and no, I am not done packing :scared1:!!
I managed to squeeze in a manicure/pedicure while the kids were at chorus practice today. I went to the nail salon right near the practice because I knew I only had an hour. I was going to get my legs waxed but there wasn't enough time. In fact there really wasn't enough time for both a manicure and a pedicure. While I was having the pedicure, another nail tech was doing my manicure. Sounds like it should have been a lovely relaxing experience, right? It wasn't. The nail tech doing my pedicure was filing the tips of my toes along with the nails of my toes. I'm surprised there was no blood draw when she trimmed my cuticles, either. At least the actual painting of the toe nails was painless. While she's working on my toes, she's talking on the phone with a prospective employer looking for someone to fill a spot in their marketing department. I was secretly praying she would get the job so no one else would be subjected to the pedicure torture I was getting. Remember that root canal I had last month, this "pampering" hurt ten times as much.

Yikes! I hope you didn't tip her well or at all. If she just wasn't good at her job that's one thing, but the rude phone call is something else entirely.

I'm so jealous of everyone's TRs! I still have to do a short business trip to the Bay Area tomorrow, then we are outta here!!

I'm now officially packed. Going through my list as I write to make sure I didn't forget anything. Work and life has been so crazy this week! I don't know what I'm going to feel when I finally step on the ship! :upsidedow

Good Night and I look forward to reading more adventures tomorrow!

Travel safely tomorrow, at least it should not be raining.

I think I am all set. Bags packed and I weighed mine on the bathroom scale yesterday 42.5 lbs. Guess I cannot add anything else. I just have some things to throw in the carry on and I am set.

I have a few magnets I made for my door, but I am thinking of running to Home Depot tomorrow to get a few of their paint ship Mickey heads to spruce up the door a bit more.

We are scheduled for Main seating, but I would rather have 2nd seating. So my mom is going to work on changing us when we get on board. She is a travel agent and has been on well over 50 cruises to pretty much everywhere in her career. This is her 1st Disney cruise though.

I think I am going to try and get a ressie for High Tea at Palo's for myself. It was too late to book Palo's when we booked 2 weeks ago. I love tea and think the High Tea time sounds fun. Is anyone else doing this? What days is the tea time served on?

Okay, guess I should try and get a good night sleep before my last day of prepping and stressing.

LOL, I still tipped her fairly. I felt bad for her. It's one thing to be bad at your job, but I think this young lady is bad at both her jobs. I could tell from how she handled herself on the phone, that call was one of many dead ends.

Have a good day at work!

Well we made it to Ridgeland South Carolina and ate at one of our favorite restaurants, Jaspar's Porch. Excellent home cooked southern cooking.

We left at 6:00 AM and got to drive to 4 states of rain (WV, VA, NC, and SC). At least it wasn't a heavy downpour, just a fairly steady rain most of the day. We got here in 12 hours which is pretty good time.

Looking forward to getting a good night's sleep and heading out for the final 4 to 5 hour drive to WDW. Hopefully the rain will be past us by tomorrow.

See you all on board!

I hope you get a clear day! We're driving from western Maryland Friday morning at 4am. The plan is to be in South Carolina for an early dinner so DH can get his southern cooking fix. I read about a place in Santee that sounds good.

Hopefully I wont forget to bring anything important. We're leaving tomorrow... yayy :cool1:

I just talked to my friend who just came from the western cruise Sept 5, she said that we have to pay for all alcohol drink, including wine even at Palo, formal dinner and everything. Is that true? anyone know? I thought that at dinner and palo, there will be no extra charge for alcohol drink?

Thankss

The Captain's Gala has free cocktails in the grand atrium. Palo brunch includes one free champagne. Otherwise all alcohol is at a charge. Believe me when I say that they would lose money badly if they gave free alcohol at meals! Soda and juice is free at all meals, or at the deck 9 drink station - if you order soda at a bar or from room service you pay for it. Hope this helps clarify!

To those already in Florida, how's the weather? I hope you are all well and having a good time.

We are experiencing the gloomiest of chilly, rainy, windy fall days. The low for today is 39 degrees!

We had to switch our trip to Kennedy Space Center to the day we get off the ship instead of the day before we get on it. It's not what we wanted but it's necessary if we're going to be able to go at all.

Leaving in two hours for the rain cold miserable day heading for a little Pixie Dust -- we are busting at the seams to leave actually are counting down the minutes now, hoping that I will be able to at least listen to the game in the car tonight-- Let Go PHILLIES! Looing forward watching the game in Key West on Sunday. See everyone there --.

YIKES! I am glad you survived. I went to a place close to my office, which I had never been to before, but I faired pretty well. It was painless.

You are to be congratulated, packing warrior! I am usually patting myself on the back BIGTIME if my bag is that light.

This is probably why no one "goes missing" off the Disney ships!:lmao:

The weather here today in Florida is beautiful. Right now it is 86 degrees. Should be in the 70's on Saturday.

we had snow last night here in québec :scared1: (just a few snowflakes...) but STILL I am ready for florida weather!!! :yay:

Thank you to everyone for the welcome to the board - even at the last minute! I hope everyone who is heading down already have a blast!

I am not sure if I introduced everyone with me:

Krisann (me) aka - Mom

Ashlyn - DD14

Aaron - DS 12

This is our 4th cruise and we have the 2010 EB TA booked also.

Also joining us will be my author assistant, Cassandra - this is her first cruise ever!

The kids and I live in Jackson, TN and we homeschool the kids. My hubby works in Iraq and will not be joining us :(. Cassandra lives in a small town outside of Jackson.

We are flying in from Memphis to MCO on Friday, staying at the MCO Embassy Suites and taking the shuttle to port on Saturday morning.

I am planning on coming to the DIS Meet at 3 - I kinda feel like a party crasher coming in this late! I am trying to read all the posts in this thread tonight to get to know everyone.

I am back off to finish up packing and finishing up the kids FE things! So much to do in so little time!

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes!

Krisann

Welcome Krisann,

I read that you wanted to do FEs but it was too late. What is your cabin number? I should have extra stuff to give away so if you hang it, I will fill it!

Well, maybe I can win the award for the last one ready? I think it's all packed. Let me rephrase...I'm all packed, hopefully nothing was forgotten. We'll leave for the airport tomorrow at 9, flight at 11:40, we'll be on the ground at MCO around 2. Then it's off to a little DD, and dinner at O'hana. If anyone reads this, safe travels, see you onboard!!

I think I beat you on this one! Everything is in my bedroom - all clothes, shoes, toilitries, etc, but nothing packed. We leave at 3:45 tomorrow, so once the kids leave for school, I will lay out each person's stuff one by one & double check everything's there before putting into the suitcases. It's sooo much easier to do when no one is here in my way!

I was too busy watching the Phillies win tonight to finish packing:banana:

Ok, we are finally packed, I'm safely home from my trip to the Bay Area and my DH is safely home from his baseball tourney in AZ. The van picks us up at 4am to head to the airport. So I'd better get some zzzzz's!!!

See you all soon!

I was too busy watching the Phillies win tonight to finish packing:banana:

They got lucky. Pitching is what wins championships. The Phillies do not have stable enough pitching to beat my Dodgers. Overall we have a better staff. I think our 5 days off killed us.

It is 3:40am and only have 90 miles from Disney enjoyed listening to the Phillies beat the dodgers ride was easier than expected not a much rain met nice family At the rest stop on their way to Disney too. See you all on Saturday everyone have a sAfe trip
