October 16th, 2022 - 5-Night Halloween on the High Seas Cruise from New York (Bermuda)

I'm curious if Bermuda would accept this information from a cruise line. Or is Bermuda requiring that the information come directly from the passenger?

Either way I'm not looking forward to completing yet another form of documentation and incurring yet another additional cost.>:(
According to the email it’s going through the Quarantine Authority in Bermuda and their requirements are fully independent of any cruise line. We have to bring the approval with us to embarkation, and I’d imagine they’ll disallow any who don’t get the approval.
Also they’re not making allowances for 90 day recovery like Disney is, and boosters are not required to be considered fully vaccinated.

UPDATE: 8/15/2022

Hi everyone you all probably received this email already but just incase here is a copy of it. Yes we each have to complete and pay for the Bermuda Travel Authorization form. You have to have a printed or digital copy to show Disney Cruise Line when we check in at the port on our embarkation day. They will not be accepting 90 Day recovery. Everyone has to submit a negative COVID test.

According to the Bermuda TA site we can apply for the travel authorization up to 30 days prior, and we only need to show proof of vaccination along with the $40 fee. They’ll be relying on the cruise line to check negative test status. Also the travel site makes it clear that it’s for all cruise ship passengers, regardless if they disembark in Bermuda or not.
Seems to me this really is just a $40 travel tax to help recover their lost tourism revenue over the course of the pandemic, as there is zero legitimate reason why they can’t get our vaccine status along with the negative test status from Disney.

I kind of understand if it is a "$40 travel tax". I hate paying extra but those folks must have surely suffered financially during the pandemic.

This is an improvement. Previously Bermuda Travel Authority sent an email after you began the process which you had to respond to and upload test results and wait for another approval. When we cruised earlier this year, I received 3 of 4 approvals, but had to call and sit on hold to have the last one processed. One less step is great.

Informational Update:

Not sure if everyone knows but Bermuda is in a different time zone so we will be moving our clocks ahead 1hr before bed our first night. You should be receiving a little note in your room from housekeeping to remind you of this change. So be sure your watches and iphones are showing the correct time when you start day 2 of our cruise.

UPDATE: 8/17/2022

Looks like Bermuda has changed their requirements again effective August 22, 2022. If I am reading this correctly it looks like we will have to test on our embarkation day to meet their new requirements. I wonder what Disney will tell us we will have to do now. It would be nice if they could offer free testing for everyone on embarkation day or they can might find a new destination to port at.

Below is a screenshot from Bermuda’s website.

Looks like they’ve removed the lines regarding Fully Vaccinated passengers, on the Travel Authorization gov.bm site. Thankfully! 😅

Yep! They have removed the sentence about Vaccinated Travellers.

Just so I understand (I miss a lot it seems), Fully Vaccinated passenger will NOT need to test? The pre-boarding test will be enough?

Yep! And the pro-tip I learned here is to get a televisit appointment with Onpoint for $17(pp) and use one of the free rapid tests that USPS has been sending out, within 2 days of embarkation.

I was planning on going to my local pharmacy in NYC to get the test. They provide the test for free as do pop-up sites which are on almost every corner in midtown Manhattan lately. They promised 24-hour turnaround. I was going to get tested on Thursday, get results on Friday, sail on Saturday.

Will that work?

That’s cool they still have the corner stalls setup. Saw that in December when I was up there and couldn’t help but smile! Should do, as long as they send you digital test results that you can then upload to the safe passage site.
And yeah I was thinking about possibly doing the CVS PCR route again, but wanted to make sure the results were back in time. Last time I went it took a solid 2 days and I’d hate to miss boarding time because of it. I may make a Onpoint appointment for the morning of just in case.

I've never done a fish exchange can you explain it!

Also I'm sorry to ask but to make everything super simple two adults who have been fully vaccinated can get a test from Walgreens in an hour or two right?

What do I do about my young son who's only 2 and unvaccinated? I'm afraid 2 days prior isn't enough to do much in time with getting an appropriate test

Fish Extender link to help know what it is. Just check first posting for more info if you like to join.

We plan to do CVS for their rapid test (results within hours) for our testing the Friday before we sail.

For the under 3 might have to try your pediatrician. Have them witness an at home test then have them provide a copy of the negative test saying they witness it to upload to safe passage. Not to sure. I believe you can also do the virtual at home tests at that age but have to look into it.

(Added) just checked and eMed says they do virtual testing for age 2.
Qoute from their Q&A section:
Tests for anyone between the age of 2 and 14 requires an adult to perform the sample collection under the observation of an eMed Telehealth Proctor.

If you happen to have an airport near you with testing they usually offer to do every age.
