October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

Well my honey (homew3) and I also had to grab a Palo dinner date that we were not planning and No bruch, but we found a way around that....We were UPGRADED TO A SUITE today.:goodvibes Sorry about screaming.....just super excited. So I think we might have a better chance to get in a bruch at Palo now. Waiting for the concierge to call so we can tell them everything we would like to do......never thought I'd be saying that. Hope everyone gets what they want.:thumbsup2

Congrats on your upgrade!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Sorry we won't be neighbors and having coffee on the verandah but hey! A suite..lucky you guys!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Congrats on the upgrade! We are still sitting on our "Guaranteed" room (We booked a Cat 12 cause we are cheap :) ). I can't help myself but check the reservation daily to see if we have been assigned a cabin. We did the same thing last year and got upgraded to a 10. I'm hoping for a 9 this year - I've never had an outside cabin before.

Jason.

Ok, now that I have caught my breath, in retrospect, My honeys Palo brunch is going to cost me $1500.....oh well. Just this morning I could even spell conserge let alone say it....:rotfl2: Two of the three girls are having birthdays that week, they will be happy:bday: And hey, there is plenty of room on this veranda for everyone apoohfn!

Dreams Unlimited has my state room number listed. Does this mean it is guaranteed? Does anyone else have a room number?

a Guaranteed room means you *don't* have a stateroom number, only that you are guaranteed a room in that category or higher. We have a Cat 12 GTY - which means basically we can be assigned any cabin Disney decides they want to give us. You usually book a GTY room when there aren't any staterooms available in that category when you book, but one might open up later.

In our case, we booked 4 people into a category 12. However, there are no category 12 staterooms that fit 4 people (they all only hold 3). So we will get at the very least a Cat 11, while only having to pay the Cat 12 price.

We did the same thing last year, and got upgraded to a Cat 10 room. Of course, it was a Cat 10 room right below the nightclub - but the rhythmic thumping of the music actually helped put us to sleep at night.

Jason.

Good Morning, Cruisers,

I have only had brunch at Palo's. Last year on the 11 night Wonder, we had dinner ressies at Palo's but cancelled them. I am sure some happy cruisers were glad we did so they could enjoy the Palo dining experience.

Ugh. I just heard the 7 day forecast for Baltimore and it is going to be hot, hot, hot, along with humid, humid, humid. Mid 90's during the day and 70's at night. I live in a very old house and we have window units which are never as good as central a/c.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Liz

When I booked thru DU, they gave me a stateroom number right away so yes, it is guaranteed.

Goofy ~ We have a verandah, too but it would've been fun to have been neighbors:) Maybe we can stop by to see the suite & check out how the rich & famous live - haha!

Ok for those who have numbers I have staterooms 8036

Edited to add: I just checked the DCL web site and there are NO remaining Palos reservations open. NONE!:scared1:

Deck 8, Bevtoy - I love Deck 8.

We also did a Cat 12 gty. No room number yet either. Would love a bump up, but hey, I just happy to cruise again almost 2 years. (Talk about major cruise withdrawl.)

Geez, I hadn't realize how long I was on "a break" until I just typed it. Oh well, got go back on a cruise so I can do my "job" better.

Apoohfn
We would love to show all our friends the suite we cant afford:lmao:
but of course there will be a "peek at the suite" fee. Im sure you understand..... just kidding. We will be in 8022. Sure do hope we get brunch at Palos although it hasnt been confirmed yet. If so, we plan on stealing some of the food and selling it on ebay to pay for the room.........:headache: :sad2: :rotfl: :sad1:

So....how much are tickets to the cruise meet at your place? :lmao::rotfl2:

:rolleyes2 Ok, Honey (homew3) says I am embarassing her. Truth is, were filthy rich. Well, my name Is goofy12 isn't it? There will be no charge for the "take a peek at the suite tour" but donations will be gladly accepted.

Can someone tell us about Martini Tasting. We've heard about it and it sounds like fun. What kinds, how many and where?

I have been reading on cruisecritic about this pirate boat excursion, it sounds like alot of fun, has anyone done it? Is anyone else planning on doing it in St. Martin?

Just checking in to see if all my fellow Minnesotans are all ok. For those that don't know, a major bridge over the Mississippi collapsed today at 6:05 pm. It's very sad, our phone has been ringing all night, people checking to see if DH made it home alright, which he did.

First...congrats on a sweet (suite) upgrade...ENJOY!!

I wish I could speak with experience on Martini Tasting....but....I'll let Brenda (Oyboyshi) tell us from her Oct 2005 Eastern trip report -

Once the obligatory safety drill is over (thank you US Coast Guard for looking out for us little people!) we are faced with a dilemma: Sailaway party with 2,000 of our newest friends and neighbors or baseball game? We are confident that the Redbirds will rebound from their unfortunate Thursday night loss and we know where our priorities are...Diversions it is. Table for two, please, next to the big sunny porthole window and could we go ahead and try that martini flight I've heard so much about?

For $15 you too can try the martini flight... five miniature martinis that are still big enough in size that you can easily share them with someone you love. They were all very tasty indeed, and dear reader, I don't know if it is possible for you to end up more annoyed with me than I am with myself right now...but I lost the sheet that described each drink. From what I remember there was an Appletini (too sweet - Jason had to finish that one), a Citrontini (mmm...just the right balance of sweet and sour), a Cosmopolitan (always a safe choice), a Blue something-or-other (it was made with blue curaco and it was actually pretty good but I have no idea what it was called), and a chocolate martini...defies all possible description other than glass-licking good...go get your own and grab another for me while you're at it.

If you like her description on this topic...you should read her entire trip report posted on our Yahoo Groups web site - under files. I admire her writing skill. You may have seen some of her other 'writing classics'...on the trip reports boards.

Sorry to impose here everyone. Just want to make sure my Minnesota friend Jen and her family are ok. Hopefully, they aren't involved in any way with today's bridge collapse.

(Hi Kev!!)

Thanks so much Nancy for the concern. We are safe , but a little too close to home! My sister & my hubby use that bridge to & from work everyday. Cell phone & our home line circuit(s) were jammed & it took me forever to get ahold of them. Actually my sister called me, but when I finally got through to my hubby he had lost track of time & didn't even know what happened. My prayers go out to the families that are involved. It's so, so sad!

jen-n-greg, I'm glad that you & yours are safe! :grouphug:

Please resume to your regularly scheduled DISing now.:upsidedow

For the DISer tag game, if 30 people play are we divided into 3 groups? What I am trying to figure out is how many surprises I need to bring for other players.
