I can't believe the teacher said that to you. I take my kids out of school every year for a couple of days here and there to make our weekend trips a little longer. And they are in high school. But this will be the first time I take them out for a whole week. I've been pretty lucky so far though because they are pretty healthy throughout the school year so they don't really miss very much school all together.

Their teacher will just have to get over it. Family time is just to important.

She should be grateful you're letting her know in advance so that arrangemants can be made in case they do miss something.

Hi everyone, been super busy here!!! Just checking in to say goodbye. Heading off to Cabo San Lucas tomorrow morning for a week. I have to work all day and finish packing, yikes!!!!!!!!!!

My dd is also eagerly awaiting HSM2, she sent me an e-mail invite to watch it with her from DisneyChannel.com. Very cute!

Just saw your post from a few weeks ago...Wow...what a small world....we left on 8/6 for a week in Cabo!!! We got back on Monday the 12th and we ate at the Office as well!!!

My camera broke mid-trip and I lost all my pics, but my friend had taken mostly the same pics as I so it worked out...where did you guys stay!! We had a blast...we went ATV'ing out in the desert and a sunset cruise out to the arch. We stayed at Dreams at Los Cabos (about 15 minutes) out of Cabo toward San Jose.

One day we drove up the coast and went and had drinks at the infamous Hotel California (from the Eagle's song).

Had the obligatory drink at Cabo Wabo and Squid Roe

Also had some excitment as we watched a water taxi (we were supposed to board the next one) sink with its pasengers.....luckily on one was injured but it was a scary site...

Wow, what a small world!!! That is scary pics of that water taxi, what happened to it???????? They look so small out in that choppy water. I'm not sure if you read or not, but we took a large sailboat out to the arch and well past, and well, my dd and I got seasick, not a good feeling!

What day did you eat at the office? We were there on Saturday the 11th. Walked past Squid Roe several times, but did not go in, the family at at LaPalapa right behind it. Didn't to go Cabo Wabo, but I did bring home a bottle from their gift shop (made a margarita last night with it). Didn't really taste any different than cheap tequila to me LOL, but the bottle is pretty.

Just checking in! The boys are back in school...as are the sisters of the baby I watch....so it's been a quiet week at "work", but it's been CRAZY around the house! I have not found that routine yet. That morning and evening groove that makes life SO much easier! LOL Good Luck to all the Kindergarteners, and New Middle and High School kids!! It's an exciting and scary time! As for pulling the kids....we have done it twice now, and wouldn't you know it, that would be the years someone would be sick! Colton was sick the year of the first trip with stomach stuff, so he ended up missing enough days through the year that the board of Education sent us the lovely...Your child has missed too many days. if he misses any more you'll be fined $50 per missed day or serve jail time! Then last year, Connor got the Chicken Pox...after he'd be vaccinated, but he still had to stay home! So, again, the BOE sent us the lovely letter! LOL I just ignore it and if they have a fit, I'm throwing down the "lifes too short, spending time with family is more important post 9/11 card." If they don't like it...tough! Also, both kids did a report on the Mayan Ruines, made up all the work before our return AND made excellent grades! I don't want to hear it! It's not like I kept them home for "mental health days" or to help me make Meth! Geeze! Okay, I'll step down off my soapbox now!! Love those babies and ENJOY your family time!!!

Allen, looks like an awesome cruise!! I wish we could find a deal on something like that.....BUT, I understand having to save for 2 cruises in one year! Wow....you better think about saving dollar bills instead of nickles and dimes!

Welcome to all the new cruisers! What fun we are going to have! Was listening to a CD compilation that was given to us by a cruise friend on the last cruise! "Hey! Hey Baby! Ooh! Ah! I wanna know, if you'll be my girl!"

No plans for the weekend...well, except going up to Steve's Parent's home for dinner tomorrow, but that's about it. (it's a 2 hour drive and Steve has to work, so I am taking the boys)

Got satellite TV this summer. Now we can watch all the Cleveland Indians baseball games! (We were both born and raised in Cleveland and moved to WV in 1992 after we were married. But you knew that, right?) They are now 5 games ahead of Detroit...YEAH! off to watch the rest of the game!

Wishing I was on Castaway Cay with a Konk Kooler in one hand and a book in the other!

Hello everyone!!! We just booked this cruise a couple days ago and now I have been hooked to this computer learning as much as I can about Disney cruising. We have cruised quite a few times on other lines, but this is our first Disney!!! Sooooo excited! We have 2 boys that will be 7 and 5 when we set sail! This will be their first cruise ever! Just wanted to stop in and say "hi" and hopefully get a chance to "meet" you all some more over the next 13 months! Jenny

So glad you are joining us! This is our first disney cruise too and I have to tell you, I am super excited!! You picked a great time to go. There are a lot of great people on this thread that are going.

Sounds like you had a rough time those two times you took your kids out of school. But I really love your outlook on it all. I guess the board of education can be pretty uptight. I'm glad everthing worked out though.

Hopefully soon you can get back into a routine that is not so hectic. Good luck!!

Knock on wood, both of my kids have been very healthy the last few years. But, December of 2003, I took them out for 5 and 1/2 days, at the beginning of December. Alexa got sick in the car on the way home from the airport when we came back, and ended up missing the next week of school. The following two weeks were winter break, so she ended up missing the entire month of December! Luckily it was only 2nd grade!

I just got back from our 3rd viewing of Hairspray with my dd! I think we have gone nuts. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie 3 times in the theater, it must have been back in Junior High! I just love this movie, makes you smile through the whole darn thing.

I love that movie!! I have only seen it once. I don't know if I will be able to go back and see in the theatre, but I will definitely buy it when it comes out on video. All of us left that theatre with big smiles on our faces. It was great!

Hot as Hades!!!! The day we were at the office (I think it was Sunday, the 12th) we were literally dripping....even though we were on the beach, but was so hot and humid...I felt bad for the servers at the office...all they do is trudge though the sand and move umbrellas around all day!!!

The day the water taxi sank was Tuesday or Wednesday.....you can see how rough the water was....well the waves were crashing on the shore and the water taxi was coming in to the beach to pick up people....we kept saying to ourselves that the waves looked too big and they were....they started washing over the engine but the boat was still picking people up....after everyone was on (and it was difficult for them to climb on) and taxi tried to back out and get past the waves but waves then started coming over the boat...it filled with water pretty quickly and when it was half way down it started to turn over....everyone wound up in the water and they started throwing life rings and preserves from the shore to the people in the water....we felt so bad because the people lost their cameras and wallets and personal belongings....some people got stuck in the waves trying to get back to shore and some made it on the other boat that came to help....one poor woman had to be towed by jet-ski back to shore. We were due to take the next water taxi and we opted out!!! Went to get our money back and luckily they cancelled the rest of the excursions that day. Good idea!!

My camera broke right after that....the shutter button just popped off and flew behind the dashboard of the rental car...never to be seen again... so I could not take any more pics and then when we got home all my pics mysteriously disappeared off the memory stick...very strange!!!

Sony wanted $181 for me to send it back to them to get fixed but hubby found the part online for $30 and sent away for it....it came and he fixed it!!!

Sorry to hear you and DD got so seasick....we went on a catamaran out to the arch that was a booze cruise but we had a lot of fun.....sunset at the arch was just beautiful!!!

I also brought home a bottle from Cabo Wabo....didn't open it yet to try!!!
